Reincarnation Of The Strongest Spirit Master-Chapter 1381: The Scary Monsters!
William didn’t forget to leave this clear instruction before heading out, sending it using his spirit telepathy.
"This way," William already asked Lara about the right portal to take, and she simply sent someone to accompany and lead him towards that place.
The first spot William picked was the area with a big dried up basin and lots of valleys. He knew the place wasn’t just suitable to hide a grand army of tens of thousands of masters, but it was also suitable for laying down lots of defensive and offensive formations.
"I bet you expect lots of enemies out there," the moment the two of them passed through the portal, they appeared at a town with lots of masters fighting on its walls, "but not at the town we travelled to, right?"
"Follow me," William didn’t respond to Becky’s words for a few minutes. He simply spanned his spirit sense and found out everything related to the current situation of this town.
The town seemed to be led by one of the newly appointed army leaders from his guild. Yet that master seemed to be either killed or missing, as the enemies were surrounding the town, with few masters left on the walls to defend it.
"Something feels off here," Becky was the first to express her doubts, "I can’t see who is leading the masters here, it’s as if..."
"He is either killed or away," William reached the same conclusion, "in either case, he shouldn’t leave the town with a portal linked to Lara’s city unguarded. I need you to go back, inform Lara about this situation, and she knows what to do."
"Right now?!" Becky couldn’t help but scream in panic, "I want to watch!"
"Then hurry up," William changed into his monster form, "or else you’ll miss all the fun!"
"Screw you!" Becky was enraged! She waited all this time to see how these monsters would fight. And when she finally got the chance, William gave her the order and she had to move away, "he asked me to deliver the message, not for myself to go to tell her," as she didn’t want to retreat, she picked a group of young masters close to the portal, told them about what William wanted, and saw these to the portal.
"Now, it’s time for me to feast my eyes on the great show!" She was reassured the moment the masters went through the portal. They doubted her at first, before she pointed towards the direction where William was fighting. And before they left, she heard a summary of what actually happened here.
The enemy seemed to have lured the army leader and most of his forces away! They feigned a strong attack a few days ago, before they retreated all of a sudden last night, ending up with the army leader giving them a chase. Yet in the morning, the left garrison was surprised by the enemy attack, and was trying to buy themselves enough time till their leader would return.
Becky could tell the enemy had set their eyes on this town, coveted the portal linked to it. Having access to the portal meant they gained a footing in Lara’s city, the main base of operation for William’s side!
The danger involved in this possibility was massive! And Becky couldn’t tell if this was a singular event or a grand scheme in play. She knew that was why William’s first order was to strictly send her back to warn Lara. They needed to know if this situation was happening elsewhere, and on top of that, they needed to guard against it.
"It’s show time," as she did her part, she waited and watched from a distance. William didn’t hesitate to throw himself at the walls, where brutal fighting erupted everywhere!
The walls were this close to falling into the enemy’s grasp, if not for the timely arrival and intervention from William. Yet the town was so massive, and the walls stretched for a long distance, that he couldn’t possibly cover by himself.
As she expected and hoped for, the monsters finally came into play! William didn’t use all the monsters in one go, or else it’d be overkill! He sent five monsters to different parts of the walls, while he sent another five and set them loose at the enemy forces surrounding the town!
There were at least ten thousand masters surrounding the town, with close to that number fighting their way on the walls. As for the town’s defending masters, Becky could tell they didn’t exceed three thousand at most!
That clear disparity between both sides alarmed William and made him consider such a scenario being played out at other places and the risks involved in this. Lara’s city acted as the main base of operation for the war, yet there were no defences laid around the portal, not enough masters stationed to defend the city if it got attacked from the inside!
William landed over the enemy like he was a fierce lion. The enemies tried to stop him, but all in vain, while the defending masters instantly recognised him, shouted his name!
"Long live Fox Guild master!" The shout started from a few, then spread all over the town. The masters defending the town were fewer in number, but when their morale got reignited, they looked like ferocious beasts!
And yet, the main beasts came from William’s ten monsters, which attacked at the same time, both on the walls and on the ground, making a great and scary impact in both sides’ spirits!
The monsters William made were giant in size, yet when they joined the fight, it felt like their bodies kept swelling with more enemies they killed! In front of Becky’s spirit sense, the monsters sucked the blood from all the enemies they killed, and slowly grew in vigour, strength, and size!
"They... They are growing like... Like they are kids!!!" This realisation hit Becky like thunder! She placed many expectations on these monsters, yet she never expected them to be just kids!
