Chapter 1411: Give Me an Hour!

"We were fighting against masters from the upper world. And they weren’t easy enemies, even up there. The Dark Triad has toppled kingdoms; the fact that we are standing here is a victory in itself."

"Still, this is our home," Berry argued, her voice ringing with a conviction that brooked no dissent. The other girls nodded in fervent agreement, their eyes reflecting the fires still burning in the distance. "We won’t stop until the entire city—no, the entire continent—is ours!"

"I won’t say no to that," William replied, pausing as he felt the heavy weight of the future pressing down on his shoulders. He turned his attention toward the shimmering, jagged tear in reality—the portal that had vomited death into their streets. "But first, I need to visit somewhere."

"What is there?" Anjie asked, turning her head toward the direction William was staring, as did the other girls. Having stood by William since the very start of the city reclamation battle, she had watched his every move.

She vividly recalled him walking directly toward that coordinate before he had crossed paths with Vladimir and ended the man’s life.

"The same as here, I suppose," William said. He wasn’t one hundred percent sure of his guess, yet he was close to certain. The architecture of this invasion was too precise, too deliberate. "And I intend to pay them back in the same way they did to our city."

The air grew cold as the implication of his words sank in. He wasn’t just talking about defence; he was talking about an absolute, devastating counter-invasion.

"Then..." Lara and the other girls instantly grasped his meaning, their spirits surging. "Consider me going with you!"

"Me too!"

"I won’t miss that battle!"

One after another, they expressed their desire to join the fight on the other side of the portal. In fact, every single girl there was ready to jump into the abyss at his side. But William had already made up his mind, his gaze sweeping over the exhausted group.

"I’ll only bring Lara," he said firmly. He then gestured toward the long lines of wounded spirit masters being carried in from all over the city. "But first, we need to heal the wounded. We cannot leave our foundation crumbling while we strike the heart."

"What about us?" Berry asked. Having known William the longest, she understood that once he set his mind on a course of action, there was no changing it. If he said he would only take Lara, then arguing was a waste of breath. She accepted her role, even if her heart yearned to be at his side.

"Like before," William said, his hands moving with fluid grace as he withdrew several glowing bottles from his storage ring. "Lead our masters, hunt down the stragglers, and claim the lands. Claim the continent!"

William’s words were delivered casually, almost as an afterthought, but it was as if he had just issued a death sentence for the continent’s old regime. To an outsider, it would have sounded like the delusions of a madman.

Yet, to those standing there at this moment, nothing felt awkward or out of place. If anything, they felt it was justice—a simple, clean, and inevitable form of retribution for the suffering they had endured under the coalition army of the various kingdoms.

William immediately began the gruelling task of healing the wounded masters, his spirit power flowing into the concoctions to amplify their effects.

Meanwhile, the girls moved out to inform the other army leaders of the new development. Lara remained by his side to rest and recover her strength for the upcoming journey, while in the distance, the roar of battle continued.

At the front lines, Fang was pushing himself to the absolute limit. He was trying his best to crush the endless streams of enemies pouring from the portal like a black tide.

Clang!

No matter how hard he struck, no matter how many he cut down, the enemies replaced their losses in the blink of an eye. Fang started to believe the enemy’s leaders wanted this battle to turn into a grinding slaughterhouse for both sides.

The sheer indifference the enemy showed toward their own casualties was chilling. Fang knew their side was suffering the most; they lacked the numerical advantage to sustain a war of attrition.

"Time to let William know," Fang muttered after a few more hours of relentless fighting. He realised there was no way out of this stalemate except through William’s direct intervention. The more they delayed, the more brave souls fell on their side. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Fang started to grow anxious about the real intentions of the invaders. He had seen how William killed two higher-realm masters in this battle—titans who were supposed to be the strategic pillars of the army.

He had heard from Becky how William had dispatched a third one before even arriving here. And yet, despite losing their top-tier commanders, the enemies didn’t show any sign of breaking apart, acting weak, or becoming disorganised.

If anything, the enemies appeared strictly organised and eerily collected. It was as if the leaders they had lost weren’t their generals at all, but mere pawns in a much larger, much more terrifying game.

Fang was already closely watching what happened at Lara’s side. He heard what William said, and he could tell William had an inkling that there were other leaders, other higher-realm masters, standing on the other side of this portal and orchestrating everything.

Fang wanted to give William more time to prepare, or at least rest. Yet, from the looks of it, the choice was grim: either they moved a large number of their scattered armies here and wasted them in the end, or William would come and pull one of his magical tricks to end the war with their victory.

[I need you to hold up for a few more hours,] William said after listening to Fang’s brief about the current situation. He added, [I’ll head there in an hour at most, but something tells me I will need more time to settle things on the other side of the portal.]
