Reincarnation Of The Strongest Spirit Master-Chapter 1487: It’s… A Trap World!!
Bernard was generous and kind enough to explain the sequence of events, but as the story unfolded, William suddenly stopped walking. He stood frozen in the middle of the blue mist, a look of absolute horror washing over his face.
"What’s wrong?!" Seeing the youngster—whom they had intended to safeguard on their leader’s orders—show such a face made the entire vanguard go vigilant. Weapons were levelled, and eyes scanned the fog.
"What do you know, William?" Bernard asked, his voice dropping to a low, serious tone. He was smart enough to realise that William’s reaction was born from a specific recognition.
"It’s... A trap world, then..." William’s eyes moved frantically, scanning the horizon where the endless Scarlet Bears continued to swarm.
Since the moment he had arrived, he had believed this world was built solely to facilitate the destruction of lower realms like his own. But he now realised he had drastically underestimated the scope of the Mystic Arts monsters’ scheme.
This world wasn’t just a breeding ground for a planetary invasion—it was a cage designed to catch a force as terrifying as the Blue Purgators.
"Of course it’s a trap world, the commander just said the dark masters led us here..." one of the masters in Bernard’s group muttered, thinking William hadn’t been paying attention. He spoke harshly, trying to snap the talented youngster back to reality.
"No, no, you don’t understand," William said, shaking his head slowly, yet he didn’t move an inch. His voice was hollow. "This world isn’t just a trap to hold you. This world is designed to be the place where the Blue Purgators die before the Great War even begins. It’s meant to kill you before that time comes..."
"What time?" Bernard asked, his brow furrowed in genuine confusion. He was a seasoned commander, yet he felt entirely lost as he tried to decipher William’s words.
"The time to fight the Fox monster, of course!"
William didn’t bother with flowery language or subtle hints; he threw the truth directly into their faces. "I bet you were in the middle of organising a grand resistance force against that bastard. That’s exactly why those monsters—the owners of this realm—decided to pull you off the entire board! You weren’t just a threat; you were the main obstacle!"
When those words left William’s lips, the atmosphere within the blue mist shifted instantly. The casual, albeit weary, expressions of the one hundred masters hardened into looks of deathly seriousness.
They exchanged silent, sharp glances, their hands tightening on the hilts of their weapons. That collective silence was all the confirmation William needed; his wild guess had struck the centre of the bullseye.
"And even if that were true," Bernard said, his voice dropping to a cautious whisper, unsure of how much he should divulge to a stranger claiming to come from a lower realm, "what if we are building a force to take down that monster? That doesn’t change our current predicament. We are still here, and he is still there."
"It does!" William’s tone suddenly elevated, vibrating with an intensity that made the surrounding blue mist ripple. "It changes everything! The monsters aren’t working alone; they are already in a tacit understanding with that Fox!"
His words didn’t seem to make immediate sense to these higher-realm masters. They looked at him as if he were speaking a forgotten tongue. But William didn’t care.
He knew that no matter how much he explained the intricacies of the Fox’s alliance with the Mystic Art monsters, they wouldn’t fully grasp the depth of the conspiracy yet. However, for William, everything had finally clicked into place.
His master’s undying grudge against the Fox monster, the high-level contacts she had once hinted at, the vast and mysterious knowledge she had bestowed upon him—it all pointed toward a singular, shocking fact. His master had been a part of this very group, the Blue Purgators, before they had vanished from the records of history!
"That explains everything then..." William muttered, ignoring the weird, suspicious gazes he was attracting from every man in the unit. "And it changes the priority of this entire war!"
He turned his eyes toward the blue mist emanating from the special stones held by the masters. He looked at the shimmering particles with a new level of recognition. "This is the legendary protective Blue Spore Origin, right?"
"Yes," Bernard replied, now seriously considering the possibility that William had fallen on his head during his travels and had several loose screws. "It is our lifeline. Now, why don’t we stop this useless talk and head back to our Floating Castle? There, you can rest, and we can regroup to return and exterminate these bears properly."
"No. We need to do something far more important than that," William interrupted, his voice like cold iron. To the horror of the vanguard, William took a step forward and walked right out of the protective blue mist.
This mist was legendary for a reason; it was a lethal toxin to any creature possessing a darkness-element spirit. It was the only reason the Scarlet Bears, despite their millions, couldn’t touch the masters inside the cloud.
Watching the youngster they had come to rescue simply stroll out into the open air gave them an instant scare. A single thought flashed through a hundred minds at once: This kid is absolutely insane.
"Wait! Come back here!" Bernard shouted, reaching out. "There is nothing more precious than preserving your life! You’re walking to your death!"
Bernard still viewed William as a talented but naive young master who had been lucky with his spirit puppets but was dangerously ignorant of the world’s true lethality. "Come back here and let’s return to the castle!"
"No."
Bernard tried to grab William by the arm to pull him back, but the moment his fingers brushed William’s sleeve, he felt a surge of strength that defied all logic. William didn’t just resist; he activated his spirit.
In a flash of blinding light, William’s form shifted, his aura manifesting into the shape of a multi-tailed fox, sending a shockwave of power that forced the vanguard back.
