Reincarnation - The Divine Doctor and Stay-at-home Dad-Chapter 39
Chapter 39 The Divine Mercenaries
In the yard of the Sanatorium of Jiangnan Military Force, an old man was doing morning exercise in his practice uniform. He was performing his punching skills, bringing up wind. Nobody could tell that he was over seventy years old.
After that, Nalan Jie made a close posture. He picked up the cold tea Nalan Wushuang brought to him, and drank them all.
“Grandpa, you’re recovering really quickly,” said Nalan Wushuang.
“I should thank the little magic doctor. I am more than recovering, and I feel like I am twenty years younger!”
“Well, that big fraud did have nice medical skills.”
Nalan Wushuang nodded and said. After Qin Haodong’s treatment, she felt much better than before. Her menstruation became regular, and she felt warm inside now, instead of feeling cold like before.
While the two was talking, the guard introduced a lame person in.
The lame person was in his thirties and looked tough. But his right could no longer support walking and was even twisted. With the cane in his hand, he limped all the way to Nanlan Jie.
“Axe, why are you here?”
“Our big brother, Saber, is dying.”
The lame person said with grief over his face.
Nalan Jie’s expression change drastically. “How? He was just fine a few days ago.”
“His condition worsened last night, and now he’s in a coma. You may not be able to see him one last time if you don’t hurry!”
“Then hurry, let’s go!”
Said Nalan Jie as he passed the teacup to Nalan Wushuang. Then he hurried to go outside.
“Grandpa, why are you going?” Nalan Wushuang asked.
“To see Saber for the last time.”
“Grandpa, how did you forget that thing has changed? Doctor Qin may be able to save Saber’s life!”
“That’s right! How can I forget that little magic doctor?” Nalan Jie said to her, “Maybe this is not the end of Saber’s life. Just call the little magic doctor and ask him to come at any cost.”
“I will call right now,” said Nalan Wushuang. Then she took out her phone and dialed Qin Haodong’s number.
As Qin Haodong picked up his phone, he heard the worried voice of Nalan Wushuang coming from the other side, saying, “We’ve got a patient and we really need your help!”
Qin Haodong felt the nervousness of Nalan Wushuang, and he said, “Come and pick me up, I’m in Jinagnan Hospital now.”
“Wait for me at the gate. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
After that, Nalan Wushuang hanged up the phone immediately.
Qin Haodong unwrapped himself from the bandage. He put up the clothes Lin Momo prepared for him and left the ward.
A red Maserati drove to him as when he made his way to the hospital gate.
“Get in!” Nalan Wushuang yelled eagerly.
Qin Haodong opened the door and sat in the car. Nalan Wushuang hit the gas heavily, and then the Maserati darted forward like a shooting arrow.
“Why are you in the hospital? Making diagnose for someone?” asked Nalan Wushuang.
“Not diagnosing someone this time. I am here to be diagnosed.”
Qin Haodong told how he had been injured last night briefly.
Nalan asked in surprise, “Why are you acting like a normal person? You were badly injured!”
Qin Haodong smiled and said, “I recover quicker than normal people because I am a doctor.”
“I don’t know where you learned your medical skills, but it’s marvelous.”
Nalan Wushuang drove faster and faster as she talked. She was a nice driver, driving in 80 kilometers per hour in the downtown area.
“Nice drive!”
Said Qin Haodong.
“Of course, I am the Car Goddess in Jiangnan City!”
Nalan said with pride at her mouth corner.
“You don’t say!”
“Trust me.”
It looked like Nalan Wushuang was going to prove herself with the truth. She drove faster and faster, reaching 200 kilometers per hour soon after they were out of town.
“What’s the rush? Who’s the patient?” asked Qin Haodong.
“Have heard of the Divine Mercenaries?”
Nalan Wushuang was driving and talking.
“No!”
Qin Haodong shook his head. He was just a senior college student. He knew nothing about mercenaries.
Nalan Wushuang said, “The Divine Mercenaries was once the third powerful mercenary group in the world, and they definitely had the power to be the most powerful one, but they hid parts of their power to keep a low profile.”
Qin Haodong listened quietly. He knew Nalan Wushuang was more than telling him a story of the mercenaries.
Nalan Wushuang continued, “And the one you’re treating today, is one of the Divine Mercenaries.”
Qin Haodong asked, “How could he get injured if the Divine Mercenaries is so powerful? And I guess you’re talking about more than one patient, right?”
Nalan Wushuang said, “Just keep all I tell you today in secret. Actually, the Divine Mercenaries differs from other groups, because it has the Nation of Huaxia as its backstage supporter.”
“What does that mean?” asked Qin Haodong.
“Nowadays, underground competition among countries is getting fierce, and Huaxia is also involved. Sometimes governments found things tricky to handle, and that was why the Divine Mercenaries was formed up.
After the establishment, the Divine Mercenaries accepted small missions as excuse, and they were actually doing special missions assigned by the government. They’ve dedicated their lives and made great contributions to Huaxia.
After that, Nalan Wushuang continued, “But one year ago, the background of the Divine Mercenaries was leaked out, and their secrets were exposed to the hostile forces of Huaxia.”
“The Divine Mercenaries had no idea about the leak. They accepted a mission which was not that difficult but was actually a trap of the Japanese. Two of the eight members were killed and the other six were injured. They survived but was disabled.”
The saddest part was that the government felt it convenient to help them because of their special identification, so my father retired from the army and accepted them personally as the representative of the Nalan family.
“And even that has to be done privately. My grandfather built a house behind the sanatorium, and the six survived members from the Divine Mercenaries were healed and rested here.”
The captain of the Divine Mercenaries was the most injured one. He had been lying in bed for a whole year, and last night his condition worsened, now he’s dying.”
Qin Haodong was touched. Nobody knew what the Divine Mercenaries had done, but they were national heroes. He admired Nalan Jie most because he was willing to retire from the high position for the Divine Mercenaries.
“Take it easy. I can cure them as long as they’re still breathing.”
Nalan Wushuang said, “Thank you, on behalf of the Divine Mercenaries.”
Twenty minutes later, the Maserati bypassed the military sanatorium, and arrived at a small valley behind.
On the hill side sat a large house covered with tiles. Nalan Jie’s Audi A6 with the military number plate was parked there.
The two got off the car. Qin Haodong followed Nalan Wushuang. She pushed the door open and went inside.
When they entered the house, Qin Haodong saw Nalan Jie standing in the house, and a lame man relying on his cane. At the opposite side there were five cachexia men, two sitting on wheelchairs, and three lying in bed.
These people looked sick but intensively murderous, because they had once survived mountains of corpse and sea of blood.
In the bed in the middle of the room, a skinny man was lying. His eyes were closed, his face was panic. He must be Saber, captain of the Divine Mercenaries, in accordance with what Nalan Wushuang had mentioned.
Qin Haodong could feel Saber’s life was draining. He wouldn’t be able to live long if not treated in time.
The lame one looked at Qin Haodong when he entered, like a hungry wolf checking on its prey.
Nalan Jie’s face was full of joy when he saw Qin Haodong. He hurried and said, “Little magic doctor, Saber is the national hero of Huaxia, you have to help him.”
“I know!” Qin Haodong said as he stepped forward to the bedside of Saber. Then he reached out to feel Saber’s pulse.
The lame one eased down when he knew Qin Haodong was the doctor Nalan Jie had mentioned. But soon he was suspicious again, because he couldn’t believe the young man could cure Saber.
He kept silent due to his trust in Nalan Jie, standing and watching.
A while later, Qin Haodong stopped feeling the pulse, and checked Saber’s injuries.
“Little magic doctor, how is he? Is there any chance?”
Although Nalan Jie knew how marvelous Qin Haodong’s medical skills could be, he thought Saber was too sick to be saved. His breath was getting weaker and weaker, and now he was at the last gasp.
Qin Haodong stood up and said, “I can help him, but it may take a lot.”
The lame one dropped his cane and kneeled down before Qin Haodong as he heard that. He promised with excitement. “Our life, the six of us from the Divine Mercenaries, will all be yours as long as you can save Saber.”
Qin Haodong pulled the lame one off the ground and said, “I was here because of my respect for you, and I don’t need other things.”
After that, he took out the needles from his pocket and began his treatment.
Saber’s injury was complicated. The veins in his organs had been injured in varying degrees, and an unknown toxin was in his body. Moreover, there was a streak of the Sword Qi hidden in his dantian.
Qin Haodong could tell that the master of the sword was smart because he could’ve killed Saber, but instead, he chose to torture Saber to death in such a cruel way.
Saber might be a warrior, but he couldn’t use the Genuine Qi to cure himself as long as the Sword Qi was suppressing him. The only thing he could do was to wait and die.
“How vicious!”
Qin Haodong swore silently and pierced the silver needle into Saber’s dantian.
He was using the needles in a particular way this time. He pierced a circle around dantian, and started to push the Sword Qi into the silver needles with the Green Wood Genuine Qi.
Five minutes later, those silver needles started to vibrate. Then they were shot away, hit the ceiling and collapsed into powders.
“The Sword Qi is so strong!”
Qin Haodong was surprised because those silver needles were actually blown up by the Sword Qi. The cultivation level of the master of the sword was too high. Even Qin Haodong had to hide away should he encounter him.
He wiped the sweat on his forehead. He had overcome the most difficult state, and what was coming next would be easy.
