Chapter 307: Chapter 305: The First Appearance of the Capitalist

The car drove smoothly along the wide road.

When Sun Yufei had been with them earlier, the atmosphere was fine. Now that it was just the two of them—a man and a woman—it became a bit awkward to start a conversation. However, since one of them had a girlfriend and the other saw Xue Yang as just a kid, they gradually relaxed.

"Senior Sister, are you interested in transferring to the sales department to become the sales manager?"

Ever since Wu Meiju was dealt with, Trendy Apparel Company had been lacking a leader. He had been observing others in the company and considered hiring someone new. He also thought about grooming Xing Xing, but she lacked the ambition for it. As for hiring externally, he abandoned that idea after careful consideration.

The thought of having Zhang Yao take over sales had been circling in Xue Yang’s mind for many days, but it was only today that he finally resolved to ask her.

Zhang Yao was a bit surprised. "Do you think I’m a good fit for sales, Junior?"

Xue Yang didn’t answer directly, instead tossing the question back at her. "So, are you willing or not, Senior Sister?"

"To be honest, transferring to the sales department would be a big challenge for me. Since I graduated from college, I’ve been working almost exclusively in procurement, and it took a lot of hard work to finally master it."

The unspoken message was that she wasn’t keen on switching to sales. She knew how incredibly difficult it had been to climb to her current position. If she transferred to the sales department and failed, how would she face herself?

"Opportunities don’t just go to those who are prepared; they also go to those who are versatile. Since you’ve done so well in procurement, Senior Sister, you can definitely succeed in sales, too."

That sales pitch had the distinct air of a capitalist.

Zhang Yao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "President Xue, tell me, why did you think of asking me to move to the sales department?"

Xue Yang held the steering wheel with both hands, his gaze fixed on the road ahead. The streetlights had just flickered on, and the silhouettes of tall buildings wavered in the night. Twinkling neon signs decorated the streets, making them seem like a dreamlike fantasy. Perhaps this is why it’s so easy to lose yourself in a big city?

"Because I have faith in you, Senior Sister."

He had faith that she wouldn’t let herself get the short end of the stick.

Zhang Yao understood what Xue Yang meant by "faith." In truth, this was all thanks to her company being Trendy Apparel, with its connections to the Si Family. If she had been at a company without such a deep background, the consequences would have been hard to predict.

"Then what about the procurement department?"

"What do you think of Wei Shuyu, Senior Sister?"

Zhang Yao pondered for a moment. Wei Shuyu was a university student who had recently been in charge of the company’s post in Yanbei. She was a very responsible girl with a persistent passion for apparel. Most importantly, she was a junior and in desperate need of an internship.

However, remembering the earnest way she had asked about Jennifer’s designs, Zhang Yao smiled and said honestly, "President Xue, I think she’s more interested in design."

Xue Yang nodded. "I thought so, too. That’s why I’m planning to ask Classmate Sun tomorrow if she’s interested in apparel."

"Isn’t Yufei’s major foreign languages?"

"A background in foreign languages doesn’t conflict with procurement."

It was only a matter of time before Trendy Apparel Company started exporting. Besides, some fabrics did need to be imported. Although Sun Yufei had a fiery temper, her problem-solving skills had merit. Regarding the promotional photo incident, if she hadn’t run into Su Jianqiang, her handling of it would have been considered perfect for a freshman.

Now that Xue Yang was in a different position, his perspective on people had changed. Naturally, he wanted to pull talented people to his side. After all, why let good fortune fall into an outsider’s hands?

Zhang Yao relented. "You’ve already planned out the entire path, Junior. It seems pointless for me to refuse."

Xue Yang just smiled and said, "You can still refuse, Senior Sister."

Zhang Yao looked at Xue Yang from the back seat. Although she couldn’t see his expression clearly, she could tell from his profile that he was smiling slightly. It was a sincere smile. If she were to refuse him now, he would certainly find someone else for the sales manager position. Still, he would probably be disappointed... For no particular reason, she didn’t want to disappoint him, so she agreed.

I’ll just treat it as another opportunity. I’m still young, so learning more can only be a good thing.

After dropping Zhang Yao off at her apartment building, Xue Yang drove toward his rental.

The next day, before Xue Yang could go look for Sun Yufei, she found him first.

When Xue Yang saw Sun Yufei bringing him breakfast, he was taken aback. "Classmate Sun, is there something you need?"

Sun Yufei didn’t beat around the bush. "President," she asked, "can I come to Trendy Apparel Company to learn?"

Xue Yang raised an eyebrow slightly. What is this? Speak of the devil?

"Why the sudden interest in learning at Trendy Apparel?" he asked.

"Because I want to become someone like Senior Sister Zhang." Who wouldn’t admire such a cool and capable woman?

"That’s a fine goal. Alright. She still visits the fashion department from time to time. The next time she’s here, I’ll have her find you."

"Thank you, Council President! No, I should say President Xue now. I’ll work hard."

Not expecting it to go so smoothly, Sun Yufei walked away with a spring in her step, looking like a girl in the first flush of love.

At least, that’s what Cui Hao thought. Ever since getting dead drunk at the gathering, he had slept for an entire day in the dormitory to recover. Even so, he still felt awful.

"Damn it, I’m never drinking again."

"I hope you stick to your word."

Hearing the voice, Cui Hao snapped back to reality. Seeing Xue Yang, he asked, "What’s with Sun Yufei? She seems like a different person."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Then why don’t you go ask her yourself?"

"No way. If she beats me up, who can I even complain to? By the way, I didn’t do anything outrageous after I got drunk last night, did I?"

Cui Hao had blacked out the previous night and couldn’t remember a thing.

"You did."

Cui Hao’s face turned pale. "What did I do?"

Xue Yang said with a serious expression, "You stripped naked and ran around campus shouting, ’I’m a giant moron!’"

"!!!!!"

After her morning classes, Sun Yufei made a beeline for the Qiangsheng Printing Factory.

Although they had repeatedly assured her that there would be no mistakes, Sun Yufei was worried. Since the job was being done for free, she feared that cheap goods meant poor quality and decided to go supervise in person every day.

After a night of rest, Su Jianqiang was just sore all over; he had no serious injuries. It was only then that he realized Sun Yufei hadn’t been trying to seriously injure him, but just wanted him to experience some physical suffering. It was precisely because of this that Su Jianqiang became even more terrified of her. If I actually went for an injury report, it would be useless. The hearts of women are the most venomous; the ancients certainly weren’t lying about that.

Just then, the front desk received a call from security, notifying them that Sun Yufei had arrived.
