Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 43: Suddenly Confessed To
In class, Master Miejue announced the list of students participating in the Lin Corporation research project, immediately sparking a heated discussion throughout the room.
Everyone knew about the situation with Xue Yang and Chen Ying. The boys wondered if the campus belle, Chen Ying, would regret having rejected Xue Yang now that he had the opportunity to work at the Lin Corporation.
The girls were all envious. Some were even scheming quietly. Since the great campus belle Chen Ying doesn’t want Xue Yang, maybe we can make a move. There are plenty of excellent guys at Yanbei University, but high-quality ones are far too rare. Snagging one is a victory.
When class finally ended, Cui Hao started pestering Xue Yang again.
Xue Yang couldn’t be bothered with him and went to the library to research the Lin Corporation. Although the corporation was deeply integrated into everyone’s lives, to truly understand it, he had to start from the beginning.
"Xue Yang, you’re really pushing yourself, huh? Already starting your research."
"Yeah. I want to get into the Lin Corporation."
"I get it. For ordinary people like us, it’s a shortcut to changing our fate. Alright, I’ll bite the bullet and go all in with you."
Cui Hao spoke with righteous conviction, but his true thoughts were different. I wonder if the next time I meet that goddess, she might think more highly of me if she knew I was with the Lin Corporation.
Xue Yang glanced up at him. The look sent a shiver down Cui Hao’s spine, as if he’d been targeted by a large predator, and a bone-deep chill washed over him.
This guy... after changing his style, even his aura is different. Could it really be that clothes make the man? Cui Hao was already wondering if he should change his own style too. Change myself quietly, then stun everyone! The thought alone is exhilarating.
Grinning foolishly, Cui Hao looked up and saw Xue Yang’s cold gaze. His smile instantly froze on his face.
"Don’t look at me like that. Okay... I also want to get into the Lin Corporation myself. If we could work with them, my family wouldn’t have to worry about the future."
It was a golden goose. Who wouldn’t want to get their hands on it? Even a small piece of it, a mere speck of gold dust, would be enough for an ordinary person to live a life free of worry.
Xue Yang lowered his head and continued reviewing the materials.
Just then, a female voice spoke up beside them. "Xue Yang, excuse me, are you free after class tonight? I managed to get two movie tickets, and I wanted to ask you... if you’d... like to go to the movies." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Xue Yang looked up to see a girl standing before him, clutching two movie tickets. Her face was flushed, and she couldn’t meet his gaze as she stammered out her question. The girl wore a white floral dress and had straight hair with thick, blunt bangs framing her oval face. She looked quite cute. Behind her, four other girls stood, seemingly cheering her on.
Xue Yang was speechless.
What is happening? Why is someone suddenly confessing to me!? He had never experienced anything like this before and was momentarily stunned.
At the critical moment, Cui Hao stepped between them, snatched the movie tickets from the girl’s hand, and said with a grin, "Hey there, he doesn’t like movies, but I do. I’ll go with you."
The girl was stunned to see Cui Hao take her tickets. She cast a pleading look toward Xue Yang, but he didn’t look at her.
Realizing this was his way of rejecting her, the girl dejectedly took the tickets back from Cui Hao. "Maybe next time!"
With that, she fled as if escaping, looking visibly heartbroken. A public confession from a girl ending in rejection... it would probably be a long time before anyone else bothered Xue Yang again.
"Hey, don’t run off!"
Cui Hao turned to Xue Yang, laughing. "You already have a girlfriend, so don’t go messing with other girls. Next time something like this happens, just leave it to me."
"Don’t you have a target already?"
"You mean that fairy?"
Xue Yang glanced at him again, and Cui Hao quickly corrected himself. "Oh, you mean the other one. She’s like bland food—a pity to throw away. But right now, my heart and eyes are only for my fairy. There’s no room for anyone else. I’m planning to cultivate my character for now."
"I’d advise you to forget her."
"Why should I?"
"Because she’s not for you."
"..."
Damn! Did you have to be so cruel?

After Xue Yang left for class, Lin Xi lay in bed for a while longer before getting up and turning on her computer. She should have received a response for the manuscript she submitted last week.
She opened her email and, sure enough, there was a reply from the editor: "Hello, the premise is solid. It’s very original and appealing, and your writing is quite good. Please add me on QQ to discuss the contract."
Lin Xi immediately used Xue Yang’s QQ account to add the editor. Soon, the editor accepted her friend request.
Lin Xi got straight to the point.
Lin Xi: "Hello, I’m Surrounded by Mist. Can I start publishing Chapters right away?"
Editor: "Yes, you can. For the upcoming storyline, I suggest adding some emotional descriptions to draw the readers in. The effect will be much better."
Lin Xi: "Okay, got it. Thank you!"
He seems like a pretty good editor, even offering advice. However, this presented Lin Xi with a difficult problem. When it came to the quality of her writing, she was confident. But emotional descriptions... I’ve never been in a relationship, so how am I supposed to write about feelings? The reason I avoided the emotional aspect was that it’s my weak point, so I just decided not to write about it at all. But the main plot of this novel is a romance. If the emotional descriptions aren’t good, it’ll really suffer.
I won’t publish anything yet. I’ll just wait for Xue Yang to come back and ask him. In Lin Xi’s mind, Xue Yang had become an all-capable person. Whenever she faced a problem she couldn’t solve, he was the one to turn to.
Having missed three days of classes, Lin Xi had to hurry and catch up. Outside, the ice and snow persisted. Inside, a young woman was diligently chasing her dreams.
At the university, Xue Yang spent all his time outside of class in the library, even taking his meals there. After his afternoon classes ended, he brought the materials he needed to review back home to continue.
Lin Xi, who was studying in her room, heard Xue Yang return and immediately put down her pen and ran out.
"Xue Yang, you’re back!"
"You shouldn’t run so fast. You’re still not over your cold."
"I haven’t had a fever all day. I’m almost better."
Xue Yang took off his coat, set down his materials, and touched her forehead. He confirmed she no longer had a fever. Seeing that her face was no longer deathly pale, he could tell she was indeed better, just a bit weak.
"Why did you bring so much stuff back?"
"My professor asked me to work on a project with her. These are all materials about the Lin Corporation."
Lin Xi paused, then asked again, "The Lin Corporation?"
"Yeah, the Lin Corporation. What’s wrong?"
