Return of the Immortal Emperor Daddy-Chapter 212 Scared to Death (5th Update)
Cui Shanhe and Gona’s eyes lit up, as they shared the same thought as Nangong Yi. If they became friends with that person and reached a certain point in their relationship, he would naturally teach them his Unique Skill.
"Young Master Cui, are you certain he’ll attend your family’s banquet?" Gona asked immediately.
"Of course," Cui Shanhe said confidently. "We’ve also invited people from the Ma Family to our banquet. That formidable individual needs to collaborate with the Ma Family on certain matters. When my grandfather heard about it, he decided to act as the intermediary."
Gona and Nangong Yi both nodded, a glimmer of joy appearing in the eyes of the two usually composed young men. They were in awe of the young man’s martial prowess, believing that if they could learn even a thing or two from that powerful individual, their own Martial Path would improve significantly.
Wu Tian, Qin Yuhan, and the others had already come downstairs. Qin Yuhan shot Gona a displeased glance. "What are you doing here?"
Gona, however, was in no mood to deal with her and continued questioning Cui Shanhe. "Tomorrow, I’m going to your family’s banquet."
"I’ll go too," Nangong Yi declared.
Cui Shanhe nodded and smiled. "It won’t just be you two. The Arrow King is in Southern Province investigating the New Holy Land. When he heard that person was coming, he decided to make a detour to see him for himself."
The Arrow King is one of the Seven Saints of Dragon Country, ranked sixth. His archery is so incredibly precise that it’s said even the great General Li Guang, were he alive today, would be no better.
Wu Tian, Qin Yuhan, and their group prepared to leave the hotel to investigate why Xia Qian’s employee had suddenly resigned after getting the medicinal herbs.
But Gona wasn’t about to let them leave so easily. He turned to Cui Shanhe in frustration. "Nangong Yi and I are helpless against this man. We’re counting on you."
"Don’t use force," Nangong Yi added, nodding. "He’s not as simple as he looks. We have to use strategy."
Cui Shanhe scoffed. "Is he really as formidable as you claim? In that case, let me go meet him. By the way, I haven’t asked yet—what’s your love rival’s name?"
Cui Shanhe couldn’t care less about people like Qin Yuhan or Wu Tian. He was only concerned with the scions of the Five Surnames and Seven Families. The Five Surnames and Seven Families revered the Sword Emperor, who had once decreed that their disciples must not kill or scheme against one another. Otherwise, the Sword Emperor’s blade would show no mercy.
"His name is Wu Tian," Gona said coldly.
"Oh, so his name is Wu... what? Wu Tian?"
Once the name sank in, the arrogant expression on Cui Shanhe’s face vanished completely.
At the same time, Xia Qian noticed Cui Shanhe and was taken aback. She remembered that before she came to Yang City, Xiao Liang had specifically told her about the Cui Family of Qinghe and had even shown her photos of some of its members.
BEEP! BEEP! Suddenly, Xia Qian’s phone vibrated. She glanced at it and saw a text message from Xiao Liang.
Xiao Liang knew Wu Tian had brought Qin Yuhan with him to Peng City and was afraid that calling might interrupt them at an inopportune moment. That was why he had texted Xia Qian instead. The message informed her that he had contacted an old friend, Cui Chong. Cui Chong was hosting a banquet, to which he had invited representatives from QQ and WeChat, so Xiao Liang was reminding her to bring Wu Tian along.
"Looks like we’ll be attending the Cui Family’s banquet," Xia Qian said, looking at Wu Tian.
Cui Shanhe, sitting not far away with his group, was overcome with shock. This Wu Tian... he really is *that* Wu Tian.
Gona chuckled mockingly. "So, you have connections to the Cui Family as well."
Xia Qian had lived abroad and recognized Gona by reputation. "None of your business," she snapped.
"Of course, it’s none of my business. It’s just a friendly reminder," Gona said, his tone flat yet arrogant. "A very powerful person will be at the banquet tomorrow. He’s only twenty, but his strength is beyond anything we can imagine. I hope you’ll know to keep your mouths shut, lest you anger him."
"Don’t think I’m overstating things. There are simply beings in this world that I can’t afford to provoke, and neither can you. Understand?"
"Enough!" At that moment, Cui Shanhe shot to his feet, his face stern as he faced Gona. "I don’t have the authority to invite guests to the banquet. Gona, don’t come tomorrow night."
"What?" Gona was dumbfounded. How did things turn out like this? From what Cui Shanhe said earlier, attending the Cui Family banquet shouldn’t have been a problem. Besides, I’m a Rothschild! Cui Shanhe’s refusal won’t affect the strategic cooperation between our families, but how could he be so blatant about snubbing me?
Cui Shanhe had no time to worry about what Gona was thinking. He couldn’t believe it—their rival in love, the man Gona and Nangong Yi were targeting, was the very same expert his father and grandfather had warned him never to offend.
Wu Tian was still unaware of the connection between himself and the Cui Family, but Cui Shanhe already knew who he was. Though Cui Shanhe was an arrogant young man, he deeply respected his father and idolized his grandfather. Whatever my grandfather says is law. If he said Wu Tian was an expert, then it must be true. Cui Shanhe believed it without a shadow of a doubt. He had to go over and explain things to Wu Tian immediately. He couldn’t let Wu Tian think he was in league with Gona and Nangong Yi.
Cui Shanhe’s strange expression was perplexing, especially to Nangong Yi.
Just then, Xia Qian went to Wu Tian’s side and whispered something in his ear. Wu Tian’s expression cleared in understanding, and he glanced at Cui Shanhe with amusement. Cui Shanhe immediately tensed up.
Seeing this, Nangong Yi’s gaze grew even more suspicious.
Wu Tian smiled. "Let’s go. First, we’ll investigate the issue with the herbs."
Qin Yuhan and the others nodded, following Wu Tian out of the hotel.
"My stomach hurts, I need to step out for a minute."
Cui Shanhe blurted out the excuse without a second thought and ran out of the hotel.
Gona furrowed his brow. What on earth is going on with Cui Shanhe? Could it be because of Wu Tian? No! He refused to believe it. Wait a minute... thinking about what Xia Qian said earlier... she must have a connection to the Cui Family. That has to be it. It must be because of her. Gona concluded that this must be the real reason.
"This won’t do. My stomach hurts too, I’m heading out," Nangong Yi said abruptly, frowning. He then made a show of clutching his stomach as he quickly left.
Wu Tian and his group had just walked out of the hotel when Cui Shanhe hurried to catch up, stopping before Wu Tian with a look of utmost respect.
"Mr. Wu Tian, I want to explain something," Cui Shanhe said, panting. He wasn’t physically tired, just mentally and emotionally drained. Gona and Nangong Yi nearly got me killed! How could I not be exhausted?
"Explain what?" Wu Tian asked, his expression calm and his tone playful.
"The Cui Family of Qinghe has business dealings with the Rothschild Family and Nangong Villa, which is why I’m acquainted with Gona and Nangong Yi. But honestly, we’re not close. Please, Mr. Wu Tian, you have to understand," Cui Shanhe said, his expression fraught with anxiety, terrified that Wu Tian would hold this against him.
