Chapter 135: Their anxiety

Already back at the hospital, Valerie entered the treatment room where Damian was. The woman walked towards the sofa with lazy steps, even throwing her bag there and then sitting with a frown.

"My love, what’s wrong?" Damian asked, lying on the bed.

"My suspicions were correct. Probably Samuel is behind the attack on you... Maybe he’s the one who ordered it," Valerie replied wearily.

Damian furrowed his brow. "But how could he do that? He’s in prison, right? Did he instruct someone to..."

"He’s been released." Valerie interrupted Damian, looking at him with a surprised expression. "And you’ll be shocked to know who’s responsible for his release."

"Who?"

"Hannah."

Damian was immediately stunned, his mind drifting to Hannah, recalling the moment when Hannah told him that she had a relationship with Samuel, which began after they went to Korea with Valerie and Daniel to receive an award after winning a writing contest.

"I don’t understand why she would do this. Why would she release Samuel when she knows that he’s our enemy and very dangerous for us? She even released him, probably with the money we gave her before she left." Valerie wondered with a sad look. "I really can’t understand her motives..."

"Maybe she did it because she cares for Samuel," Damian replied with a worried look.

"What?"

"She and Samuel had a relationship. Maybe you didn’t know because she was embarrassed to tell you... But she told me," Damian explained, instantly making Valerie curious enough to approach him.

Valerie sat on the chair and looked at Damian seriously, as if not believing what she had just heard.

"What are you saying? Is that true?"

Damian nodded.

"Oh my God..." Valerie was stunned, now thinking about why Hannah would want to release Samuel, perhaps because she loved him and couldn’t bear to see him in prison. But considering her closeness to Hans, even often saying that she hated Samuel, suddenly made her doubt if she loved him.

"It happened a few months ago... She admitted it when we returned from Korea... after you received the award," Damian explained.

"Honey..." Valerie furrowed her brow. "But this feels so strange because before she left us, she was so close to Hans. But suddenly when we returned here, she wanted to resign and cancel her plans to date him. She couldn’t have intentionally played with Hans... I’m sure there’s something behind all of this... Maybe Samuel did something to her to the point where she had no choice but to quit her job here and then release Samuel." She said with a worried look, suddenly concerned about Hannah.

Damian just remained silent, pondering Hannah’s motives.

"Samuel is a dangerous man... I’m worried that if he takes advantage of Hannah or even harms her!" Valerie expressed her increasing fear. "Honey, I think I should check on her... What if Samuel still has evil intentions... and he’s ambitious to be free because he wants to harm you? And that also means he could harm Hannah, or even me and Daniel too!"

"Don’t worry... We’ll do something for our safety." Damian reached out and grabbed Valerie’s hand, holding it. "Now let the police handle everything, let them sort it out, let them try to catch Samuel again... We just need to be careful but not too scared... It will only make us feel constantly threatened and unable to enjoy the beauty of life. And most importantly, it’s about our baby..." He said calmly.

Valerie just remained silent, slowly nodding her head.

"Come here..."

"What?"

"Lie down next to me, I want to hug you," Damian requested.

Valerie immediately got on the bed and lay down next to Damian carefully, trying not to bump her still sore stomach. She shifted her position and hugged her husband, their faces so close and making her smile.

"Now tell me, what do you miss the most from the things we often do," Damian teased.

"Cuddling," Valerie replied.

"Just that?"

Valerie smiled shyly, then bit her lower lip.

Damian smiled again as if he already knew what Valerie wanted the most.

"I promise when I recover, I’ll always be there for you. I’ll even hand over work matters to my father and my brother," he said.

"That would bother them," Valerie replied anxiously.

"Of course not, they’ll understand our situation."

Valerie sighed, looking at Damian’s bare chest, her attention focused on the bandage on his stomach.

"I thought after we got married and no longer conflicted with Karina and Samuel was in jail, we wouldn’t encounter new problems. But it turns out the new problem is getting more complicated, and this is surprising," she said, remembering Hannah. "I never expected her to have a relationship with Samuel when she knew that previously he was the one who wanted me!" She continued with a serious look.

Damian just remained silent.

"I don’t mean she’s not worthy to be with Samuel after he liked me, but this is strange," Valerie said again, shaking her head. "How could she have a relationship with him when before she knew that he was obsessed with me, even doing everything to get me, including breaking our relationship... how could she accept the love of a man like that? She deserves better, Hans is an example!"

"Love is blind and full of foolishness, someone can still fall in love with a person who looks so bad regardless of the consequences," Damian replied, then focused on Valerie’s eyes. "Like you, you still love me even though I’m so bad... I’m so stupid... Maybe that’s how Hannah feels about Samuel."

Valerie immediately kissed Damian’s jawline while smiling.

"You can’t compare yourself to Samuel... You’re very different. You’re just a little annoying, while he’s full of deceit and evil. Of course, I would choose the slightly annoying but good, rather than full of deceit and evil," she said.

Damian smiled, blushing, feeling truly loved.

"I love you, Daddy!" Valerie whispered.

"Love you, Mommy," Damian replied then kissed Valerie’s lips gently.

Valerie responded gently, closing her eyes, but slowly feeling Damian’s hand slipping under her clothes, making her immediately attend to the kiss.

"Please don’t!" she warned, laughing.

"I want you so much," Damian whispered shyly.

"I know, but we can’t do it, not even for the next few weeks!"

"It will be very difficult."

"You can do it..." Valerie caressed Damian’s jawline again.

"My missile will explode!" Damian whispered anxiously.

"It won’t happen if you stop constantly thinking about sex."

"You don’t know." Damian shook his head. "When a man wants to make love but tries to forget it and succeeds... But when he falls asleep and his body still hasn’t gotten the satisfaction he needs, dreamland will bring him into sexual things... It will make a man ejaculate... It happened to me when I often missed you but couldn’t make love to you... And it will make me feel very bad."

Valerie immediately bit her lower lip, looking at Damian with doubt.

"Maybe we can find that solution when you leave the hospital," she said with a smile. "I’ll do my best for you," she continued, then kissed his lips again.

Damian just remained silent resignedly, letting Valerie kiss him, which only made him want her more but couldn’t do.

...

Arizona...

Hannah was cooking in her minimalist kitchen, which had a monochrome theme and was filled with basic cooking utensils. She placed the small round and flat-shaped cookie dough on the tray, then put it into the oven, pressed the button to set the baking duration, and pressed the cook button.

"This is all I can make for lunch," she said anxiously, remembering there was no more food stock left.

Suddenly, a sound diverted her attention. She immediately left the kitchen for the living room and opened the front door.

"Police," she said when she found two guests were police officers in black uniforms.

"Mrs. Hannah Weasley, we would like to meet with your husband," said the police officer with short hair.

"Um..." Hannah swallowed her saliva, suddenly feeling nervous. "He, he’s not here... He’s at work."

"Oh... Can you know his workplace address?"

"He works at Quinn Company, a property company as a marketing manager... But maybe he’ll be back for lunch soon, so you can wait for him," Hannah explained fearfully.

"Alright..."

Hannah welcomed the two police officers to enter and sit on the sofa, then she sat on another sofa and looked at them with curiosity.

"May I ask what you’re looking for my husband?" she asked.

"It’s not something serious, it’s just about his permission to stay in this city," the police officer replied calmly.

"But hasn’t my husband already got permission? There shouldn’t be any problem."

"There’s no problem, we just need to check because he was previously a prisoner on parole... He hasn’t been fully released, I mean he has to undergo frequent checks every few weeks to make sure he’s not doing anything bad again," the police officer explained again, without mentioning what happened to Damian. ’I can’t tell the truth, she might contact her husband and her husband will flee if he’s the mastermind behind the attack on Damian,’ he thought anxiously.

"Can we borrow your phone?" the other police officer asked.

"Um..." Hannah immediately took her phone from her black pants pocket. "But why do you want to borrow it?" she asked as she handed over her phone.

"It’s okay, we just want to place it here," the police officer replied, then took Hannah’s phone and placed it on the table. "Please don’t inform your husband about our presence here..."

Hannah nodded with a growing sense of fear if the police’s arrival meant to arrest Samuel again.

’What do they want? Could they possibly be trying to arrest Samuel again? But why?’
