Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 111: Li Yunjia’s Superpower
Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Li Yunjia’s Superpower
"Let’s go back and check then." Lu Zhen had also been preoccupied with finding a place to train that he forgot about the crystal cores.
If those things could help them improve as Leng Pan had mentioned, then they couldn’t waste such good and useful resources.
Walking back to where the bodies of the zombies were sprawled out, Leng Pan didn’t want to start prodding the brains of such disgusting creatures.
She thought she would vomit before finding what she was looking for. So, she used her water element to melt the flash on the heads and brains of the zombies the way she had done during the fight.
She was glad that she had discovered such a useful skill. She didn’t need to do too much to access the inside of the skull of these zombies.
As the first zombie melted, she moved to the next and the next after that. Within a few minutes, all the zombies had the inside of their skulls displayed for everyone to see.
Unfortunately, not all the zombies had crystal cores. Out of the dozens of zombies they had killed, only twenty had crystal cores.
This discovery both disappointed and encouraged them.
"At least we now know that they have started developing crystal cores. It’s still early, only the beginning of the apocalypse, the evolvement of the zombies hasn’t been completed yet. So, it’s normal that most of them still retain their human form." Lu Zhen comforted Leng Pan when he saw how disappointed she looked.
"Mmm....I understand. I just thought we would find more. That way we could take some home for the others to absorb. And, wait....I forgot to ask mom again what her superpower was." Leng Pan remembered only now that during breakfast, she had forgotten to ask about her mother-in-law’s superpower.
From the green glow surrounding her aunt, she could determine that she had awakened the wood element. But she couldn’t do the same with her mother-in-law.
How could she forget that?
"We’ll ask tonight, don’t worry." Lu Zhen said as he bent over to start picking up the crystal cores to hide the smile on his lips.
If his wife found out that he was laughing at her, he would be in trouble.
Leng Pan could only agree to ask that evening. After all, dwelling on it now wouldn’t help anyway.
The Li Yunjia they were talking about was currently sitting in her bedroom with a confused expression.
She had awakened a superpower the previous day but she still couldn’t understand what it was all about.
When she closed her eyes, she saw herself standing in an expanse of white ice and snow. She tried to recall if she had ever been to such a place, but she couldn’t remember.
It was as if she was standing in the deepest part of the north pole. The cold was bitting and even wearing the usual winter clothes didn’t help.
Wearing those winter clothes felt as if she was naked. She had no choice but to open her eyes and exit that place.
Even though she was still sitting in her bedroom and the sun outside was shining, she could still feel the lingering cold in the depths of her bones.
She wondered what kind of superpower this was. She had not mentioned it to anyone because she didn’t to worry them, but she knew that she couldn’t hide it for long.
Moreover, considering that her son and daughter-in-law seemed to know what was happening and they knew before it even began, they might be able to tell what was happening to her.
So, it was better to stop hiding it.
The reason she was apprehensive about telling them was because she would become weak without even the strength to lift a finger after every use of her superpower.
She was afraid that this was a side effect that could be fatal and didn’t want to worry the kids.
However, she also understood that her son wasn’t someone who would sit and wait for death. If there was something wrong, he would try to find a solution.
She laid down in the bed to rest when the door was knocked on. Without even the strength to lift a finger, how could she have any to walk and open the door?
She could only ignore it.
However, whoever was knocking was persistent. Seeing that his mother was not opening the door and worried that something had happened to her, Lu Tao pushed the door open and walked inside.
The room was brightly lit with the curtains wide open and the morning sunlight streaming inside and illuminating every corner of the room.
His mother was lying on the queen size bed looking weak. He was so scared that he froze on the spot. Then as if a button was switched on, he ran towards the bed at a speed that would put Usain Bolt to shame.
Li Yunjia felt helpless seeing her son like this. There was nothing wrong with her, just tired.
"Mom, what happened to you? I’ll take you to the hospital. Hang in there." He mumbled as he tried to lift his mother and carry her outside.
He had even forgotten that they couldn’t go outside, let alone take someone to the hospital. What kind of confusion was this? Even Li Yunjia without strength chuckled.
Hearing the faint sound of the chuckle from his mother, Lu Tao came back to his senses and realized that he was so worried that he forgot about the apocalypse.
He stopped the motion of picking his mother up and instead covered her with a blanket.
"What happened to you? Do you need any medicine?" He finally calmed down enough to ask.
If his mother still had the mind to laugh at him, then her situation wasn’t as serious as it seemed.
"I just used too much energy and ran out of strength." Li Yunjia used the little strength she had to reply to her son.
She didn’t want him to worry so much. So, she told the truth.
"The superpower you awakened?" Lu Tao asked and seeing his mother nod, he thought of something and got up.
"Wait a moment." He said then dashed out the door.
Li Yunjia wondered where the boy had run off to. She hoped that he didn’t go to disturb her brother and sister-in-law because then more people would start to worry for nothing.
She could tell that there was nothing wrong with her body. Even the chill that had penetrated her bones while using her superpower had disappeared.
She felt completely normal, just tired and that was nothing a little rest and sleep couldn’t fix.
