Richest Man: It All Started With My Rebate System-Chapter 5: It Just Keeps Getting Better
The first thing Steven did when he got home was arrange the groceries he bought into their appropriate places in the kitchen.
His empty cabinets now stocked with newly bought condiments, his refrigerator now full with fresh produce.
He bought enough groceries to last him a week at minimum. Buying more than that would have been a waste.
After he was done with that, he went to the bed and collapsed on it, with the smile still on his face.
His day, which had been going terribly, had experienced a massive turnaround and was now the best day of his life.
The physical and mental drain he had been feeling earlier was gone, replaced by happiness and restless energy.
What Steven wanted to do right now was spend more money and grow his account balance even further.
While he had paid all of his bills, there were a ton of things he could spend money on, especially now that he had a decent amount in his account.
He turned to look at his phone and decided that he should change it. The phone had been through thick and thin with him, and it was time to finally let it go.
Also, he planned to get himself a couple of new clothes. He was getting money now, so he should change his appearance and present himself better.
His financial situation two hours ago and now were completely different. Before, he was a young man struggling to make ends meet on his meagre salary, while working for an abusive boss. But now, he was more than that, and he was never going back to where he was. Ever.
"Before I go shopping, I should take a shower and put on something clean," he muttered, as he sprang up from the bed and walked to the bathroom.
He stepped out of the bathroom a few minutes later, drying his body. He picked up a fresh set of clothes from his bag and got dressed.
After he was done, he picked up his phone from the bed and left the apartment.
His first destination was the nearest phone store, a couple of blocks away and accessible on foot.

Fifteen minutes later, he stopped in front of a glass-fronted store whose interior was visible from outside.
The store was the kind of place where one could get all kinds of devices, from phones to laptops, to consoles, graphics cards, and even complete PC setups.
In other words, it was a gadget supermarket.
Steven walked in and made his way to the counter where the phones were on display. He browsed through the selection available and saw the familiar names.
There were a lot of choices for him to pick from, but he could only take one. While he could buy two or as many as he wanted, it wasn’t practical, as he could only use one at a time and he wasn’t someone who used his phone much.
After a full minute of contemplation, he finally made a decision and chose a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, one of the most expensive phones on display.
He called one of the staff over and gestured toward the phone.
"Hey, I want this one."
The lady walked over to him with a bright smile on her face.
"Hi. I see you’ve made your choice. Excellent choice. That would be $1,650," she said, in the most professional voice she could muster. "Are you paying in full, or would you like to hear about our instalment payment plan?"
"I’ll be paying in full," Steven replied simply.
The lady nodded and brought up the point of sale machine.
Steven placed his phone on it and heard the familiar beep.
The lady smiled and started packaging the phone for him.
Meanwhile, Steven’s attention was on the system screen.
[You spent $1,650. A 1.5x rebate was triggered.]
[You received $2,475. The money has been sent to your account.]
The lowest multiplier was triggered. But it’s still an increase nonetheless, Steven grinned in satisfaction.
"Here’s your package, sir," the staff said, pulling Steven out of his thoughts.
"Thank you," Steven said, collecting the packaged phone from her.
He smiled to himself, pleased with his choice. He nodded once at her and left the store, making his way to the clothing store.
The clothing store was a bit far from the gadget store, but not by much. It was also equally large, and it was a place he would never have dared to go before, because shopping there even once would have wiped out his entire monthly budget. They had very eye-catching clothes.
It would take him about twenty minutes to walk there, and that was exactly what he intended to do.

Twenty minutes later, Steven walked into the store. He looked around, taking in the interior, before walking deeper inside to start making his selections.
He first went to the section lined with racks of t-shirts and started picking the ones he liked.
After he was done, he moved to the pants section, then he moved the jackets, underwears and sneakers.
He had a large collection to choose from, so he took his time, with an intention to choose the best. He wasn’t in a hurry or anything.
Twenty-five minutes later, he walked to the counter with a carefully selected pile. The size of the pile drew a few looks.
He placed the pile on the counter and the cashier smiled. She nodded at him and started scanning and packaging the clothes.
It took her a few minutes before she was done.
"That would be $895," she said with a small smile.
Steven nodded and placed his phone on the POS. A second later, he heard the beep.
[You spent $895. A 1.5x rebate was triggered.]
[You received $1,342.50. The money has been sent to your account.]
The lowest multiplier was triggered again. I guess the rebate multiplier is randomised and what gets triggered is based on luck. Seems like I’ll still be at the mercy of my terrible luck.
Steven wasn’t bothered by it. Lowest multiplier or not, his balance was increasing.
He grinned and turned to the cashier, who held out ten receipts to him. He collected them, picked up the bags, and left the store.
Standing outside and looking at the bags in his hands, Steven decided to call for a cab.
As he waited, he checked his account balance and saw that it had grown to $4,882.98.
"It just keeps getting better," he muttered to himself.
The cab arrived a couple minutes later and Steven got in with his things. The driver drove off immediately.
