Richest Man: It All Started With My Rebate System-Chapter 4: Best Day Ever!
Steven smacked his lips in satisfaction as he finished the last slice of pizza. He had never really liked pizza, but maybe because of how hungry he was—his eyes were getting blurry before the order arrived—or because of the flood of happiness he was still feeling, he quite enjoyed it.
He stood up from the bed and took the dirty dish to the sink to wash it. As he washed the dish, he thought of testing the system more, to be even more sure about it and to see how the rebate multiplication effect worked.
The description had said that he could trigger between a 1.5x to 10x rebate on money he spent, and he had spent $28, triggered a 3x rebate, and received $84.
Now, he wanted to see if he would trigger the same rebate multiplication number, higher or lower. And to do that, he had to spend more.
The first attempt had already proved that the system was real, so he wasn’t that worried that he would lose money, but he wasn’t entirely without worry.
As for the expenses he would be making this time, he would be buying groceries. It was the only thing he knew he could afford with less than $300, and it was practical too.
While he did have bills he had to pay and his rent was due, those would have to wait as he didn’t have enough money for them. Especially the rent.
After Steven was done with the dish, he picked up his phone and left his apartment to go to the grocery store.
The closest supermarket was a few minutes away from his place, so he could walk the distance.
On the way, Steven kept thinking about the system and the absurdity surrounding it. He still couldn’t believe that he had gotten something like that.
He had always considered himself the unluckiest person in the world. But thinking about it now, he couldn’t help but feel that the reason for his terrible luck was all because of this.
Naturally, there was the familiar small voice of doom at the back of his head, telling him that everything was a lie and that he would be very disappointed when he checked out at the grocery store.
But Steven wasn’t really worried. Disappointment or not, he would take things as he saw them.
He arrived at the grocery store a few minutes later and started shopping for the things he would need.
The grocery shopping had actually been his initial plan after quitting, as he had planned to shop and stock the house with the food and ingredients he would need in the coming days. It was the best choice that gave higher chances of surviving.
But now, he might no longer need to worry about surviving, and he could finally live life without worrying or being anxious about his financial situation.
After Steven was done shopping, he walked to the counter. He had made sure to choose only things he knew he would need, as he had no plans of being wasteful.
At the counter, the cashier checked out his items and it was time to make the payment.
"Are you going to surprise me once more?" Steven exhaled slowly and made the payment, placing his phone’s screen on the payment point. He heard the familiar beep from the machine, indicating that the payment had been processed.
The next moment, the screen appeared again with the same familiar message from earlier.
[You spent $295.62. A 5x rebate was triggered.]
[You received $1,478.10. The money has been sent to your account.]
Steven received the debit and credit alerts simultaneously, and he glanced at his new account balance, which was now $1,485.48.
This was a massive jump from his previous account balance of $303!
Steven felt so giddy inside. He had confirmed for the last time that the screen was real and that he could really receive cash rewards for spending money. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He really wanted to scream out in happiness, but he controlled himself, not wanting to attract unnecessary attention to himself.
He picked up his packaged purchase, thanked the cashier, and left the grocery store.
Standing outside the store, Steven looked up to the sky, and a big, bright smile cut across his face. He chuckled to himself when he thought of his account balance and started walking home.
On his way, Steven decided that it was time to pay all of his bills and his credit card debt. That way, he wouldn’t have to worry about anything even if something happened.
Without hesitation, he opened his banking app and transferred the house rent to his landlord.
[You spent $680. A 1.5x rebate was triggered.]
[You received $1,020. The money has been sent to your account.]
Sweet, Steven smiled.
The rebate triggered was low, but his money was nearly doubled and returned to him, and his account balance had increased to $1,800+.
The sound of his phone ringing broke him out of his reverie.
He looked at the screen and saw that it was his landlord. He smiled and answered the call. He could already guess why the man was calling.
"Hello, sir," he said.
"Hello, Steven. I just received the credit notification. It’s good you paid your rent earlier this time. I was about to come see you tomorrow. I understand that things aren’t easy for you and it’s the same for all of us. So, take care of yourself and don’t push yourself too hard, kid," the man said, then ended the call.
Steven grinned when he heard this. The reason for the call was really as he had thought—a confirmation from the landlord and, in his own way, a sign that he cared.
I’m equally glad that I’ve taken care of the rent. I now have one less thing to worry about.
Steven didn’t delay. He made the other payments, paying his utility bills and his credit card debt.
[You spent $180. A 1.5x rebate was triggered.]
[You received $270. The money has been sent to your account.]
[You spent $800. A 2x rebate was triggered.]
[You received $1,600. The money has been sent to your account.]
The grin on Steven’s face widened as he read the messages. He had never heard anything so beautiful.
He checked his account balance and saw that he now had $2,715.48. Less than an hour ago, he had only $247. Now he had more than two grand!
The whole thing felt surreal, and Steven knew it would take him a while to get used to it. He had run multiple tests by paying off his bills and debt, and now he was not only free of the financial weight that had been pressing down on his shoulder, but he also had a decent amount of cash in his account.
This is the best day ever! He screamed internally, pumping his fist in victory, into the air.
