Rise of the Chaotic Shadow Emperor-Chapter 43: Confirmation
Chapter 43: Confirmation
'This kid!' Amelia suddenly muttered inside her mind. She gritted her teeth as the one teasing now was Sidius, not the other way around.
"Alright, go ahead and transfer the corpses here," she muttered in defeat, handing out an expansion bag.
Sidius cheerfully followed her instructions, efficiently putting the corpses inside.
While Sidius worked, Amelia silently calculated the price and stated, "Based on the current market price, these corpses amount to 45,200 star coins."
"Alright, transfer me 20,000 star coins. The rest is my debt repayment," Sidius said, handling the expansion bag filled with fiery corpses.
Amelia nodded and took out her phone to complete the transfer.

"Done," she declared.
"I almost forgot, do you have a dagger?"
"A dagger? why do you need another?" Miss Morningsnow asked in confusion.
"Just a precaution," Sidius shrugged.
Miss Morningsnow nodded in response, handling him with a black dagger.
'Good stuff!' Sidius remarked.
"That will be 5,000 star coins," Miss morningsnow spoke with a gestured hand.
"5,000?! You should just rob me!" Sidius complained, however, the serious look on Amelia remained the same.
After transferring the 5,000 star coins, Miss Morning smiled in delight.
"Happy doing business with you!"
Sidius' lips twitched at the sight and made a long sigh.
"Alright, I'll be going first," Sidius stood up.
"It would be bad if the academy found out that a student and a professor were meeting this late at night," he suddenly commented, leaving Amelia momentarily speechless about his confidence.
...
Walking out from the office, Sidius' brows furrowed in concern as his lips tightened into a thin line. The weight of the news clung into him like a shroud.
He grabbed his phone and composed a text to Pliero saying, "Giyacenth Shop, 9:00 PM, no delays."
The Spirit Divine Pill, a whispered legend, held the power to disrupt his plan. However, he still reminded himself.
'High risk, high reward!'
The Pill would be a great tool to increase his pitiful strength that can allow him to earn a significant amount of mana and further his rank.
While in his thoughts, a journey of familiarity led him to the train station.
Yet, it was only some time after the train pulled to a stop in Immussillus City that he sensed something was amiss.
A subtle sound, almost like a whisper, reached his ears.
He was immersed in plotting his strategy when he suddenly found himself in a dimly lit, unfamiliar street. His heightened senses immediately alerted him about the oddity of the situation, and he wasted no time putting them to use.
Swift and silent, he concealed himself using the Tam step until he arrived at the heart of commotion.
There, he identified several men dressed entirely in black.
"Affirmative sir," uttered a shadowy figure, confirming the authenticity of the 'Spirit Divine Pill,' to be auctioned.
Sidius' mind raced with questions as he tried to make sense of the enigmatic group.
'Who are these people?' he pondered. 'They were all wearing concealment items. I can't see through them.'
Amidst his confusion, the man with an air of authority pressed for crucial information.
"Did you uncover who's behind it?"
"Yes sir," came the response, "our leads point to Fragrance Alchemy Hall—"
- WHOOOOOSH!
Before the informant could continue, an arrow sliced through the air.
It was aimed straight at Sidius.
In a heartbeat, Sidius twisted away like a coiled spring, narrowly evading the ambush.
"Impressive reflexes for a rat," a deep, resonant voice echoed from the shadows above.
"I'll be taking this fellow," one of the assassins added.
However, he was stopped by the one with authority.
"No, you stay here and explain later. I'll come and get that rat," the blurry man said in a serious tone, dashing straight in a direction.
Meanwhile, Sidius' who escaped the grasp of death, breathed heavily. His heart pounded intensely as he peered up at the formidable yet invisible opponent.
'A pro!' he silently acknowledges. 'That was definitely a pro!'
Sidius clenched his jaw, frustration forming in his knitted brows as he cursed inwardly.
'Tch. I can't find the guy who shot that arrow. I'm sure he followed me!' he pondered 'Is he lurking, planning another surprise attack?' he added, assessing the gravity of the situation.
'That arrow carries a rare Nullifying Smoke that weakens my senses,' he added. 'He must be a member of the Three great Assassin Associations or an Unorthodox organization.'
"Also, whoever shot that arrow knows how to control his killing intent. It seems like there's really a pro among their ranks," Sidius admitted to himself, with urgency driving his every step.
His instincts screamed at him to escape. The strength of the man is great and he doesn't stand a chance if he confronts him head on.
Sidius finds himself running with all his might using the Tam step. Arrows relentlessly pursued him, along with a formidable aura in pursuit.
Meanwhile, the professional assassin furrowed his brows in confusion. The man he is pursuing was clearly a lower ranked chosen, yet he couldn't land a hit on him.
"I like his movement technique more and more," he added, quickening his pace with a sly grin forming on his face. "I wonder how strong will I be If I take that skill?" he added, followed by a sinister smile.
The figure continued to chase Sidius.
At the same time, the man who interrogated the informant broke through the tension of the group.
"Do you know your sin?"
"S-sir! I really don't know that I was being followed!" the informant pleaded guilty, "I swear to my death!"
"This... Impossible! How can someone of his low rank make it here?! This array only permits D rank and higher!"
"And that Chosen should have an item pass!"
"S-sir! I really don't have any idea!"
Seeing this, the one who seems to have a higher rank than the informant nodded.
The informant broke in delight, but soon dismissed it and turned into the direction where Sidius and the professional assassin fled.
The one who interrogated the informant contemplated further about the situation. An array that only permits high rank chosen was breached by a low rank.
Suddenly an idea came to his mind.
"Could it be..." realization drawn on the man.
The dark attribute illusion array that they had set up is an incomplete high-tier magic array. It had a random opening for people to pass or if someone possessed an exceptional dark elemental mana exceeding the grade of the array's dark element.
"There's no way he has a powerful dark element, so the only explanation is because of his sheer luck," he confidently reasoned, unaware of the true nature of the situation.
"That's it! He must have entered a random opening in the array."
On the other hand, Sidius continued to analyze every aspect of the mysterious surroundings. He maintained a steady pace, constantly observing the seemingly never ending street maze.
"How do I escape this? Wait, how did I enter this formation in the first place?!"
