Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 172Book 3, : Carrying Out The Task
A little past 2 p.m., the armored car stopped in front of a villa with a garden.
Chen Chuan got out and went over to take a look. It was a four-story villa with a spacious courtyard, a detached garage, and a rooftop terrace along with a loft.
Since the security system had already verified Chen Chuan as the owner, the person in charge of the villa opened the gates for him.
Chen Chuan walked in through the front door. After looking around, he motioned for the guard to not follow him. The man bowed to him before leaving and shutting the door gently behind himself.
The villa was already furnished and decorated, so Chen Chuan didn’t have to spend any time buying furniture. The place was styled in a lively, minimalist manner. The lighting was great as well, so the villa was pleasant to the eye, and Chen Chuan decided not to change much.
Since it was a house for a martial artist, the most important area was the one where he could practice. There was a five-hundred-square-meter training room on the third floor with the layout almost identical to the one in the university.
This wasn’t actually big for a Third Limit martial artist, but more like a standard training room. It was enough for an indoor training room, though. After all, Chen Chuan had a wide courtyard and an even larger backyard outside.
Aside from bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and other functional rooms, there was also a storage room for medicine, and another one for weapons. These two places had been specially modified and fortified, and Chen Chuan was quite pleased with them, especially the weapons storage room. He could put the weapons he had collected there.
There was also a basement under the villa that had a spot for him to put a domain interference entity. He could even put a resonator hideout there. Meng Lai had considered all possible functions he may want when setting up the place.
Chen Chuan came out after surveying the place and went to the garage, only to find that it wasn’t empty. There was an Evervictor inside, which was a mid-range car produced by Fenghai.
It was a huge car with a tall chassis, high-performance engine, and wide interior. Some biomaterials were used to make its casing, and it could repair itself to a certain degree.
Two banners were attached to the car’s roof. Running down the center was a colorful mane resembling that of a horse. When the car was driven at high speed, the mane would dance at the back. Not only would it be incredibly eye-catching, but it would also look cool, as if the car was storming through the road. Some martial artists loved this car for it.
Chen Chuan didn’t like it himself, but he didn’t mind keeping it as part of his collection.
Aside from the villa, Border Fusion had also assigned four housekeepers and two maintenance workers for him, along with five patrol guards. They were in charge of taking care of the villa. The company was also the one paying them, so Chen Chuan didn’t have to bother about that. Of course, if he didn’t need them, he could just send them away.
After checking out the place, Chen Chuan found himself pleased with the villa, but he didn’t stay for long. He got into the car and headed to the Resolution Department.
Once there, he handed over the letter Meng Shu had given. Wu Quan acted swiftly. After exchanging a few words with him, he started making arrangements to arrest the other party involved in the trade.
When Chen Chuan left, he received a message telling him that Officer Qiu of the review board was looking for him, so he went to the reception room. Officer Qiu first asked him a few questions before using a device to perform a simple check on him. It was mainly to observe whether Chen Chuan had been corroded and corrupted by the existence from the other world.
This was part of the procedure, because even if a Third Limit martial artist opened themselves up for corruption, their bodies and minds wouldn’t deteriorate much after a short time.
Officer Qiu then said that since it had been a short while since Chen Chuan had been promoted, it wouldn’t happen again right away. However, the achievement of locating Meng Huang’s trading partner would be credited to him during his next promotion.
Chen Chuan didn’t mind that. After all, Third Limit martial artists had a certain status, and before reaching ranks that would actually give them substantial power, all the ranks below it were just meaningless embellishments. While they meant a higher salary, Chen Chuan was already getting salaries from two different employers, and he had just received a substantial bonus, so he didn’t care much about not getting promoted for now.
Officer Qiu then smiled and said, “There’s something else. We learned something from Xu Xianwen’s head.
“We were looking for evidence and clues that would be beneficial for us to accuse Meng Huang of collaborating with an existence from the other world, but Xu Xianwen didn’t know anything of use. Instead, we found some personal things.”
He tapped his Realm Pass and sent a map over. “This place might be where his hideout is. It’s an underwater cave. Right now, we don’t have anyone suitable to search through the place. If you’re free, could you take a look? Perhaps there’s something valuable there.
“Xu Xianwen’s case is closed, and his file has been archived. I don’t think anyone will ask about it anymore. No matter what you find, you don’t need to report it to the higher-ups.”
Chen Chuan immediately understood what Officer Qiu was trying to say. It was impossible for the department to not have anyone suitable to search the place. It was just an excuse. The department just wanted to give him the right to deal with the hideout.
After all, he had killed Xu Xianwen all by himself. His successful vanquishing of the existence from the other world also led to the department tacitly agreeing that everything related to this case was his spoils. In other words, they were rewarding him in a really roundabout way.
Once Chen Chuan put away the map, he said goodbye to Officer Qiu and walked out of the place. In the car, he took a look at the map. It was located near a subterranean river. Based on the analysis, it was connected to Blue Reed Lake, which meant that Xu Xianwen had been trying to go to his hideout that day.
Alright. When he was free, he was going to check it out.
Chen Chuan asked the driver to send him back to Martial Valor University. Since he was just taking a break and the operation hadn’t come to a complete close yet, he didn’t get Dawncall back from Tan Zhi, but he did ask him to keep taking care of it. Tan Zhi told him not to worry. Since Dawncall was smart, he didn’t need any effort to take care of it.
After thanking Tan Zhi, Chen Chuan promised to treat him to a meal some day and ended the call. Then, he went to the living room, picked up his phone, and called his family.
Due to the unique nature of his operation, he had been staying at Motie Mountain and could only ask Gao Ming to send telegrams back on his behalf. But no matter what, his family would only feel at ease after he called them.

While Chen Chuan was talking to his family, Big Sis Huan stood in front of a screen in one of Ferris Wheel’s meeting rooms. She was contacting all the members of her group with her Realm Pass while she brought out pictures of people to display on the screen.
“These are the targets Wu Qi has deemed a threat to the company,” she said and swiped at the screen. Three people’s photos were enlarged for easier view.
“Wu Qi believes that these three need to be killed first. I don’t care how it came to this conclusion. Since the higher-ups believe in its analysis, we just need to carry out their orders. The first is this one,” she said and enlarged the picture of a woman in her twenties. She had dyed red hair and wore a white one-piece dress that made her look cute and innocent.
“Deng Xin, Huihean. She was once the assistant of the company’s intelligent officer. Later on, due to a series of problems in the company, she left.
“She’s not strong and hardly practiced any martial arts, but her current boyfriend, Tonai, is a Third Limit martial artist. He’s an important member of the Elephant Gang.
“This means that if we want to take her out, we’ll have to go up against the Elephant Gang.”
She swiped the screen. “The second one is Lei Guangcheng. He’s the director of the Cult Investigation Bureau of some peripheral city. News has it that he’ll be working in Central City next year as the vice director of the Cult Investigation Bureau.”
One of the members gasped in surprise. “If he managed to get transferred to Central City from some peripheral city, it means that he’s amazing. Either he’s from a powerful family, or he’s that skilled.”
Big Sis Huan then brought up the picture of the last person. It was Chen Chuan. She said, “As for this one, I believe he doesn’t need much of an intro. You should have seen his fight against Wei Wusheng.
“He’s a law enforcer from the Resolution Department and a student of Martial Valor University. Right now, he’s also Border Fusion’s security advisor. This kid is really capable.”
She looked around. “Any suggestions as to who we should take out first?”
“We don’t have any suggestions. We’ll do whatever you say,” one of the members said. The others agreed with it.
“I’ll pick, then.” Big Sis Huan acted decisively. She looked at Chen Chuan, and with a flick of her wrist, swiped away the other two’s photos.
“Our first target will be this kid.”
“This is just a random question. I’m not challenging your choice here, but why are we starting with him? The other two seem like easier targets,” someone said in puzzlement.
“Because one of them isn’t in Central City, and the other is heavily protected. They’re not easy targets, while this kid is often wandering outside and doesn’t even have any protection.
“Also, he’s only eighteen years old, which means that he’s undergoing a period of rapid growth. If we target the other two first, we’ll need some time to plan and execute. Once we’re done with them, three months might have already gone by. By then, the kid would have gotten much stronger, making it even harder to kill him.
“I’m not trying to be an alarmist here, but I believe that the Viper Order failed because they misjudged his strength and didn’t think he was a dangerous threat.
“Analysts, before we carry out the operation, I need detailed information about him. The more complete it is, the better. Even if it’s information from ten years ago, dig it out. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
“We need to treat him as a proper threat and be at the top of our game against him. Remember, he’s an enemy who took out the Viper Order by himself!”
Big Sis Huan rapped her knuckles against the table.
“Understood!” the group answered grimly.
Setting everything else aside, they knew that the Viper Order was not weak. If the Viper Order were to work together, even they would have had to be careful against them. Xu Xianwen was the most dangerous. He was the definition of a powerful martial artist, and he was also incredibly resilient. Even so, he didn’t manage to shake off Chen Chuan and died in his hands.
They definitely had to be extra serious when going up against someone this strong.
But killing someone was different from fighting them head-on. No matter how strong a person was, they still had a weakness. They would come up with a detailed plan and patiently wait for a chance. Once they were certain they could kill him, they would make their move.
