Rogue Villain-Chapter 377: Final Preparations
Willow wasn’t powerful enough to lie to the Elders. The part about the Alchemaze’s owner helping her was true. With that being the case, Willow instantly shot to the number one position.
However, the fact that she had used the Alchemaze’s owner to slaughter everyone else, including their companions, forced the Elders to reconsider. It wasn’t disallowed. But the ruthlessness and the fact that someone else had done it for her spoke against Willow being the Spokesperson.
So, when Willow revealed that she hadn’t asked the Alchemaze’s owner to kill anyone, just hold them hostage, there was no longer any doubt.
If Willow didn’t become the Spokesperson, no one did.
The fact that Willow had given the Elders of the Forest of Eternity an ultimatum was proof enough that she deserved the position.
By leveraging her connections and own skills in confrontation, Willow had arranged a situation where the Elders had no choice but to agree to her succession as Spokesperson.
After that, it was just a series of ceremonies, rituals, and traditions before Willow was officially the Spokesperson of Eternity. She acquired the Trees of Eternity Manual and unrestricted access to all of Arbora and elven property. She was the ruler of all elves.
However, other than cleaning up her own mess and helping Ackster, she didn’t have much interest in actually dictating over the elves. So, as soon as the ceremonies were finished and she inherited the position and the power that came with it, she got started.
Willow hadn’t heard anything from Ackster and the others yet, so she began by rooting out the family that abused her ever since she was born just because some old elf said she was cursed and fated to bring about her family’s disaster.
Weird how things like that work.
But after that, Wilma dropped by on Ackster’s bird, which seemed more restless than usual. She chatted for a bit before handing over a diagram to Willow and taking off again.
Wilma also delivered similar but different diagrams to Karandiel, Shanshi, Kargas, Mara, Makkel, Mastrax, and a few other places where they had outsourced help to reliable assistance.
After that, everyone prepared themselves.
No one knew yet what exactly they were preparing for. But all of them knew it was going to be a tough battle. Based on how rushed Ackster was, it also didn’t seem like they had a lot of time to prepare.
Wilma, Karandiel, Mara, Kargas, Makkel, Mastrax, and Shanshi did their best to prepare and grow stronger as quickly and as much as possible in the short time they had left.
For some of them, there wasn’t much they could do other than hone their abilities. But some of them prepared trump cards that would hopefully be enough to flip the situation on its head and save everyone should they need it.
Some of them were also more desperate for strength than others, who were almost taking it too easy in comparison, though that was mostly Shanshi.
Time passed by as everyone anxiously did what they could to strengthen themselves while keeping an eye on the world and their preparations. After all, according to Ackster, their hard work would be for naught if The Hero caught on to them before it was ready.
Fortunately, The Calamity had finally started acting. Seeds of Calamity sprung up all over the world and started wreaking havoc, destroying settlements and countries.
Countless people died.
People knew The Hero was active and doing his best to save the world. But since The Calamity had been biding its time, people had forgotten how easy it was to get rid of civilization.
The Calamity was a Calamity for a reason. It was an existence that could bring about the world’s end if The Hero wasn’t up to the task.
All over the world, people who weren’t prepared for it and people who had prepared for it succumbed to the mindless slaughter of the beings overtaken by the Seeds of Calamity. Ordinary beasts and powerful monsters used power that transcended what they usually had to lay waste to their surroundings.
If the beasts and monsters were lucky, adventurers, knights, combatants, or The Hero put them down before the Seed burned through and devoured their life force.
However, the number of people who could fight against the Seeds of Calamity was too small when compared to the number of the Seeds. And the world was too big for The Hero to cover it all.
Secret organizations crept out of the woodwork to protect themselves and their secrets or because The Calamity had slipped a Seed into them. But even organizations that had stayed secret since the previous Cycle fell at the hands of The Calamity.
The worst of it all was the fact that The Calamity set its plans in motion at once all over the world. No one was ready, and even the ones that were weren’t ready for a global extermination attempt.
However, since the cause was clear, so was the solution.
All they needed to do to end the planet-wide extinction threat was to get rid of The Calamity.
As The Hero, it rested on his shoulders. Everyone knew what had to be done, but only one person could do it.
But first, they had to find The Calamity. Until they did, there wasn’t much The Hero and his companions could do other than continue getting rid of the most dangerous Seeds of Calamity that threatened entire countries on their own.
However, with the entire world facing the threat of destruction, cooperation between nations and organizations worked like a well-oiled machine, especially with the Guild’s assistance, and it didn’t take more than a few days before they tracked the location of The Calamity.
Millions—tens of millions—people of intelligent races had died during those days.
The number of lives in total that were forfeited due to The Calamity couldn’t be counted.
With such a burdensome and ever-increasing number hanging above his head, The Hero wasted no time.
It was time to put an end to this.
