Running A Cemetery in North America-Chapter 424 - 295: Undersea Grotto Heaven
Under Lin Wan’s reassurance, the order within the submarine was quickly restored.
The pilot re-engaged the controls and continued along the original route.
With the precise route provided by Zhou Mangmang, the submarine soon entered the South Pacific waters.
In this vast ocean, without GPS or the guidance of someone like Zhou Mangmang with Tomb Guardian abilities, locating a city accurately would be incredibly difficult.
Even with Zhou Mangmang’s help, finding the existence of the undersea city wasn’t that easy.
According to Zhou Mangmang’s findings, that undersea city didn’t exist in the real world but was located in a separate mythical realm (洞天).
What is a mythical realm?
It’s the place where immortals once resided.
In mythical legends, it’s often mentioned that certain immortals, certain Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, lived in places like Wutai Mountain, Kunlun Mountain, Putuo Mountain, and the South Sea.
However, when modern people search for them, they find no trace of the immortals having lived there.
It’s not that those traces have been erased, but because the places where immortals and Bodhisattvas lived, although located in those areas, are independent.
Even if mortals arrive, they cannot enter, seeing none of its true appearance. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
And that undersea city is located in such a mythical realm; entering it isn’t that simple.
Firstly, this realm was certainly sealed by many immortals back then, preventing the supernatural beings (邪魔) trapped inside from escaping.
Finding a way to enter without breaking the seal became a crucial problem.
Secondly, the supernatural beings inside the undersea city, though sealed, must have grown incredibly powerful over the years.
Maybe it cannot leave, but if someone goes in to confront it, they’ll undoubtedly face enormous unknown danger.
At night, the South Pacific.
Near the island of Bunape, the submarine slowly emerged from beneath the water’s surface.
As the hatch opened, Sun Yan, Zhou Mangmang, Lin Wan, and others climbed out of the submarine.
"Is this it? But there’s nothing here," Lin Wan asked questioningly.
"The mythical realm isn’t visible to the naked eye by nature. There’s a seal here; we can only enter when the seal naturally opens," Zhou Mangmang said, gazing at the black, deep sea.
"Can’t we just open the seal directly?"
"That’s too risky. If we’re not capable of dealing with that supernatural being, randomly opening the seal and releasing it will only bring destruction to this world, wasting all the effort the immortals once put into trapping it here," Zhou Mangmang firmly replied, shaking her head.
"Then when will the seal naturally open?" Sun Yan asked.
"According to the water race here last time, during a full moon night, the seal of the mythical realm will weaken. It should be related to moon phases; let’s wait a bit longer," Zhou Mangmang sat down in the submarine. With a snap of her fingers, a large number of fish immediately gathered, surrounding the submarine entirely.
Seeing Zhou Mangmang’s ability to summon fish, Sun Yan was intrigued, reached out and picked up an octopus from the sea.
"It said it saw a creature with eyes on its chest coming to this place and summoned the undersea city last time," Zhou Mangmang said, looking at the octopus in Sun Yan’s hand.
"You can communicate with the water race? It must have seen our fellow Zhu Tianlin last time," Sun Yan mused. "The supernatural being that occupied Brother Zhu’s body is indeed related to this place. It was him who summoned that undersea city last time."
"It said the creatures living in that city are extremely terrifying and dangerous. If we enter, we might die," Zhou Mangmang said seriously and earnestly.
Upon hearing this, Sun Yan and Lin Wan fell silent.
A few seconds later, Sun Yan spoke first: "After all, it’s a Six-Star Task; life-threatening danger is normal. Besides, we’re not acting alone this time. Isn’t the entire Grand Sacrificial Society’s Tomb Guardians coming to help? As long as we work together, there shouldn’t be any problem. After all, many Tomb Guardians with powerful graveyard protections are coming, and some may even have the Three Pristine Ones or Tathagata Buddha as their guardians. If the Tongtian Sect Leader appears, we might not even need to make a move."
"You really think big, let’s hope so," Zhou Mangmang said, gazing at the star-filled sky.
The next day.
On the calm sea, the submarine floated on the surface.
Occasionally, a few birds flew across the sky, while Sun Yan, Zhou Mangmang, and Lin Wan were immersed in a serene fishing atmosphere.
Suddenly, a massive shadow approached from the depths below the sea.
Bang!
With a sudden eruption, a jet of water soared from beneath the surface, crashing down with a massive splash.
There appeared a blue whale visible to the three of them, standing on whose head were three oddly dressed men and women.
"Zhou Mangmang, you’re here early,"
one of the men, with three strands of beard, said with a hearty laugh, noticing Zhou Mangmang fishing.
"Mr. Li Sr., you’re the one late. Your Tomb Guardian is the South Sea Dragon King, yet you arrived later than me," Zhou Mangmang replied with a calm expression.
It seemed she was already familiar with him.
"South Sea Dragon King?" Sun Yan curiously looked at the man standing on the whale’s head.
The man appeared to be in his fifties or sixties, with a muscular build and sleeveless outfit, looking quite spry.
He was entirely different from the robed Tomb Guardians Sun Yan had seen at the Grand Sacrificial Society before.
"East Sea Dragon King, South Sea Dragon King, West Sea Dragon King, North Sea Dragon King; two have already appeared, so we might see the other two as well. It’s quite exciting," Lin Wan said with a smile.
The appearance of this Six-Star Task meant a large number of Tomb Guardians would gather here.
It would become the biggest offline meeting since the Grand Sacrificial Society’s inception, revealing many powerful Tomb Guardian protections.
Calling it a celestial gathering wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
Even if Sun Yan had three Graveyard Guardians, he might not have enough to show for it if such a scene unfolded.
Though his three Guardian Gods were skilled in magical combat, they were considered young in the Immortal Realm’s hierarchy.
There were many more powerful and ancient immortals.
"What’s the rush? The seal opens in a day; I’m pacing myself. Arriving early just means waiting,"
The blue whale approached, and the three people on it quickly jumped off, steadily landing on the submarine’s surface.
"Elder Tian Di, nice to meet you two fellow practitioners. These are my two disciples, not Tomb Guardians,"
The man clasped his hands and smiled at Sun Yan and Lin Wan.
"Nice to meet you," Sun Yan and Lin Wan immediately returned the gesture upon seeing this.
"Haha, the Six-Star Task appearing now is quite fitting. Our Grand Sacrificial Society hasn’t mobilized this many people in years. It’s a great chance to meet many new fellow practitioners."
As soon as Elder Tian Di disembarked, the blue whale immediately submerged itself, quickly disappearing.
It seemed quite fearful of this area, having an innate dread.
"This Six-Star Task is no simple matter. Have you negotiated with your two Graveyard Guardians yet? Don’t let anything go wrong," Zhou Mangmang said with a mischievous smile.
"Rest assured, for this task, I’ve invested heavily, and there won’t be any issues,"
Elder Tian Di made an OK gesture: "The esteemed being from my home is coming well-fed and will definitely show respect."
"Oh, then I look forward to seeing its performance," Zhou Mangmang said, surprised.
Seeing the two talk like riddles, Sun Yan quickly whispered, "Who else, besides the South Sea Dragon King, is this person’s Graveyard Guardian? It sounds impressive."
"It’s indeed impressive; you’ll definitely recognize it—Marshal Tianpeng, Zhu Bajie,"
