Chapter 12 - 11: Prince Alastor

"What nonsense?" Hael was shocked by his strange behavior. He refused all his false allegations. "She is the one who saved Stella. You were just behind her. Did you not see?."

Caelestis gently placed Stella on the cold floor, and then walked to Eleanore. "You were the one who suggested that I propose Stella here. It's a given. This was all planned." He pulled Eleanore out of her brother's protective arm, clenching tightly on her wounded arm.

She hissed in pain. "Caelestis, I—"

"It was all a lie. I should have never believed you when you said you were going to stop stalking me. You said you were over me but look at what you did! You pathetic liar!" He roared, creating a strong string of chaos in Eleanore's ears.

"Ahh!" She let out in pain.

"Caelestis!" Hael jumped in between them. "Let her go!" He tried to gently set her free from Caelestis' grasps.

"No!" Caelestis looked at Hael with his sharp, scarlet eyes, filled with blood lust. "What if something were to happen to Stella because of your stupid sister?"

He turned back to Eleanore. "When are you going to grow up, huh?! Tell me!!" He barked at her face.

"Ahh!"

"Grand Duke—" Flora tried to speak but her voice went unheard.

That's when the crown prince entered the scene to investigate the incident and chaos that had taken place in his birthday banquet.

"Greetings Crown prince." A noble said, who was then followed by others except, Caelestis, Eleanore and Hael.

"Grand Duke Lancaster, let go of Lady Eleanore Sinclair. You can't blame the injured." Alastor said.

Caelestis' shocked by the words that flew out of the crown prince's mouth, shifted his gaze from Eleanore's face to her right arm. His hand that had clenched on the part below the wound, was completely drenched in blood. Eleanore's blood.

Instantly, his gaze shifted back to her face. She looked weak. Her face had turned pale and she was barely standing.

His grip loosened and she fell but was caught midair by Alastor from behind. "Lady Eleanore, are you all right?" He asked. His face was just a few centimeters away from hers.

Eleanore turned to look at his charming eyes, she wanted to reply but found it difficult from all the screaming and shouting she had heard from Caelestis. Alastor looked up at Caelestis with eyes full of rage.

"Grand Duke Caelestis Lancaster, did you see Lady Eleanore push her?" He asked, letting Eleanore rest on his firm shoulder.

"No! But I am sure she did—"

"We are not interested in your theories. Grand Duke. Did you see her or not?" He asked again.

"No, I was right behind her. I saw her helping Stella." Caelestis lowered his head in shame, when realization hit him.

"Crown Prince, I—" Flora came forward to say what she had been wanting to say from the moment she had arrived on the balcony. "Eleanore was on the balcony on the floor below, the whole time. I left her there to use the powder room, where I met Baroness Stella, then when I reached the balcony below this one. I saw Eleanore running out of there. She also asked me to call her brother. Probably she heard someone attacking Stella because her balcony was right below this one."

"Thank you, Lady Flora." Alastor turned back to Caelestis, shot one last dreadful glare, before picking Eleanore up in his arms.

He stood up from the ground, with Eleanore lying exhausted in his arms. "We will investigate this matter further. Lady Flora Damere's statement proves that it was not done by Lady Eleanore Sinclair. For now, we must tend to the wounded." He declared and then left the balcony, followed by many others.

Hael placed his hand on Caelestis' shoulder and said, "Calm down buddy. Take care of Stella and please mind your words next time when it comes to my sister. I won't be this forgiving next time." He left the balcony, leaving Caelestis alone with Stella, in that lonely balcony.

It was a long day, Eleanore was on her way back home after working all day at that heinous, toxic office. She picked up the grocery her mother had asked for. The two large bags filled with those groceries had occupied both her hands. She was tired and was feeling hot from the heat that the sun above emitted.

Yet she was happy. Happy to be home in the next five minutes and eat her mother's warm cooked food. Today her mother was going to make her her favorite dinner and she couldn't wait to devour it.

When she reached near her building compound, she found that there was a strange commotion among the people of the society building. Instead of getting her nose into their conversation, Eleanore chose to continue home and hug her dear mother, her only family with love and warmth.

When the elevator opened on her floor, she found her neighbor standing at the door of her apartment, staring inside her apartment. Their eyes wandered around to catch a glimpse of who knows what.

'Did mother perhaps call them for a chat? If so, then why are they standing outside? And why are there so many people here? Some of them don't even live on this floor. Is this a kitty part or something?'

When Eleanore stepped out of the elevator, she started forward toward her apartment. Everyone present there turned their gazes to her. Their eyes welled up with tears of remorse and compassion.

For a while Eleanore froze in her place. Unaware of how to act in this situation. Her lips parted unknowingly. "What's wrong?" She asked, wearing a huge smile on her lips.

Her smile faded away, when no one replied to her. They all remained quiet, fearing that if they opened their mouths, they would start bawling instantly.

Just then a cop came out of her apartment with tons of questions for her neighbors. Eleanore was stunned, she had no idea what was going on. 'Why is there a cop at my home and why is everyone looking at me as if they were going to cry at any second? What's going on?'

Her questions continued to rise, but none of them got an answer in return. Eleanore took it upon herself to find out what was wrong. With heavy, cautious feet, she made her way toward the main entrance of the apartment.

Her neighbors simply cleared the way for her. They all held their heart when she peeped inside. A few more cops were there. Three of them were sitting together covering a person. Her eyes wandered around. The house was in a complete chaos. The glass table was broken, the beautiful vase that her mother had brought was broken and shattered on the ground.

When Eleanore's eyes had scanned the environment, fear had enveloped her heart. 'What happened over here?' She didn't want to draw any conclusions yet. Her mind was going wild imaginations but she held onto it, stopping it from having any scary thoughts.

But all her convincing was useless, when she spotted a golden ring in the finger of the hand of the person, whose body was covered by the three cops. Eleanore recognized that ring immediately. That ring held a special meaning. It was her first gift for her mother, from her first hard earned salary.

She still remembered how happy her mother was that day. 'But how did it land here on this body? Is that- No! That can't be. Never.' She was in denial, until one of the cops covering the corpse's face left his position, revealing the face of the person who had died in her apartment.

It wasn't very difficult to estimate who the dead body belonged to. After All, that dead body was in her house, under her roof and she had only one family in this wide world. But she chose to deny all those facts. It is possible that the body belonged to someone else and her mother was simply on a stroll.

She lied to heart, but lies always reveal themselves, whether sooner or later. This one revealed itself immediately.

The stream of tears that she had held back in her aching throat, rushed their way out, when she accepted the truth. Her hands and legs lost strength, she fell on her knees and the vegetables fell on the floor beneath her, dancing sadly in her sorrow.

"Ma!" A painful scream left her throat.
