School Beauty's Invincible Martial Expert-Chapter 516 - 517: Bookworm
Lan Yudie spoke up, "The next semester is about to start. We'll begin our major courses, so it's time to get a computer. After all, we're studying finance, and we have simulation trading courses, so each person will need to have a computer to complement the school's curriculum."
"We all have one," Liu Bin hurriedly said.
"Your computer must be filled with games and movies from the Island Country, right?" Lan Yudie said with a slight smile.
Liu Bin immediately covered his mouth and stopped talking.
Lan Yudie's face blushed slightly, "Don't worry, I won't look at your computer. How many guys have such movies in their computers these days? If someone doesn't, that's what would surprise me."
"Hehe…" Liu Bin laughed awkwardly, seeming a bit embarrassed after Lan Yudie saw through him.
Lan Yudie helped Xiao Han tidy up his desk and made his bed. She then sat down at Xiao Han's desk and carefully flipped through the books on his desk. Xiao Han's desk was the cleanest in the dormitory and the books were arranged very neatly. The books Xiao Han read were largely literature-related. Surprisingly, there wasn't a single finance book on the desk.
"Xiao Han, you're a finance student. Why are you reading literature?" Lan Yudie asked curiously, "Shouldn't there be at least a few finance books on the desk?"
"I'm already a finance student, why should I read finance books?" Xiao Han said with a smile, "Finance is dry enough, so I read literature to enrich my emotional world. Who would read finance books in their spare time!"
"But as a Finance Department student, you should master your professional courses," Lan Yudie hurriedly said.
"Of course, I'll master my major," Xiao Han nodded, then added, "But you can't just study to death. Finance is all about operation and practice. There's very little you can learn in school. The school just teaches you some theoretical knowledge."
"You make a good point!" Lan Yudie was actually persuaded by Xiao Han.
"So, you see…" Xiao Han laughed.
Lan Yudie's lips curved into a smile. She glanced at Xiao Han and then said, "You're right, you make sense. However, since I've made up your bed and tidied your desk, shouldn't you treat me to dinner tonight?"
"Of course!" Xiao Han nodded and asked, "Are you free tonight?"
"Of course I'm free!" Lan Yudie nodded, "As long as you ask me, I'm free anytime!"
On the side, Zhang Dagou and Liu Bin were almost green with envy.
Everyone in the Finance Department knew that Lan Yudie and Xiao Han were a couple. They were relatively low-key, at least in school. Outside school, no one knew the situation.
"If Zhang Feng comes back this afternoon, let's all have a dinner together tonight!" Liu Bin said in a rush.
"OK!" Xiao Han immediately nodded.
"If he doesn't come back, then we won't disturb your candlelight dinner," Liu Bin chuckled.
"You must have plans tonight too, right?" Xiao Han said, smiling at Liu Bin.
"You noticed that?" Liu Bin stared wide-eyed.
"Guan Xiaotong has already accepted your pursuit, can you stop hounding her?" Xiao Han laughed heartily, then said, "From now on, treasure the girl and don't be inconsistent!"
"You're the inconsistent one!" Liu Bin's face turned red. He remembered his own past pursuit of Lan Yudie and how he had since found another girl to be his girlfriend. So, Liu Bin was somewhat embarrassed, his old face turning red.
Zhang Dagou chuckled on the side, "Xiao Han, just leave him be."
That afternoon, Xiao Han read in the dorm, while Liu Bin and Zhang Dagou played games. However, it seemed that both of them had quit League of Legends and were gradually shifting their focus to the mobile game Honor of Kings. The two were typical game enthusiasts, keen on any popular game. If there was a hot game out there, they wouldn't miss it and would join the gaming masses immediately.
The whole afternoon passed without a sign of Zhang Feng.
"Hey, why hasn't Zhang Feng shown up yet?" Liu Bin was getting anxious.
"What are you worried about?" Zhang Dagou asked, "Isn't there still more than an hour left?"
"Damn it, he's usually quite responsive," Liu Bin said irritated, "Why hasn't he come back yet?"
"Who knows!" Zhang Dagou shrugged, "Maybe he encountered some family issues and couldn't leave."
"Right!" Xiao Han suddenly put down the book in his hand and said, "Doesn't he have a sick mother? So, we should be understanding."
Liu Bin had a bad feeling and suggested, "I'll give him a call to see what's going on with him!"

"Sure!" Xiao Han nodded.
Then, Liu Bin started to call Zhang Feng. But the calls went unanswered. After three tries, no one picked up, which left Liu Bin puzzled.
"What's going on?" Liu Bin said, clearly baffled.
"Maybe the phone isn't with him!" Zhang Dagou replied with a sentence.
"Then we'll try calling again later," Liu Bin muttered.
However, by six in the afternoon, no one had answered the phone, and by the last attempt, the phone had even been turned off.
"Fuck, it's turned off!" Liu Bin stared in shock at Zhang Dagou and Liu Bin in the dormitory.
"What... what do we do now?" Zhang Dagou hastily asked.
Xiao Han said quickly, "Let's not panic just yet; let's stay calm for a moment. Maybe Zhang Feng really has something going on, right?"
"Damn, what could that kid be up to?" Zhang Dagou scowled, then said, "At the very least, he should have some common sense, right? You can't just turn off your phone. And, we've been calling him repeatedly. How could he still turn it off?"
"Maybe... the phone ran out of battery," Xiao Han ventured.
This possibility was not out of the question; given Zhang Feng's personality, it was unlikely he would ignore calls. However, it was possible the phone had very little charge to begin with and then ran out of battery after Liu Bin bombarded it with calls.
"He hasn't answered his phone all day; do you think that's possible?" Liu Bin frowned.
Xiao Han was taken aback for a moment, then said, "Let's wait a bit longer. If there's still no response by tomorrow, we'll have to figure something out."
"Right!" Liu Bin nodded.
At that moment, Lan Yudie's message came back. Xiao Han immediately left the dormitory.
The two of them agreed to meet at Hanmen Restaurant.
University Town was not far from Shuimu University, and besides, this place was Xiao Han's property—a prime choice for dining.
Yang Lu had already been transferred back to Linjiang City. Hanmen Restaurant in University Town had a new manager, but the financial work was still under Yang Lu's control. She would come to the provincial city every week to check the financial statements and tally up the week's turnover. Yang Lu didn't trust anyone else with the finance work; even in Linjiang City, she handled it personally and never delegated financial tasks to anyone else.
Xiao Han and Lan Yudie entered the restaurant.
"Xiao Han," Zhao Lizhong greeted.
"Brother Zhao, what brings you here?" Xiao Han was delighted to see Zhao Lizhong, exclaiming, "I didn't expect to run into you in the provincial city!"
"Heh heh..." Zhao Lizhong chuckled, then said, "I've already finished handing over my work in Linjiang City. I've talked it over with a friend from the restaurant industry, asking him to take over my job. Don't worry, I highly acknowledge his abilities. He'll definitely help you capture a good half of the realm for you."
"I definitely trust anyone Brother Zhao trusts," Xiao Han always stuck to the principle of using people without doubt and not employing those he doubted.
Zhao Lizhong's smile widened as he chuckled again, then said, "I've come to the provincial city with two purposes in mind. The first is to scout the investment environment here, especially for the restaurant industry. The second, well, is to wait for your notification!"
"Don't worry, I'll notify you the moment there's news!" Xiao Han nodded.
Lan Yudie looked on curiously as the two men conversed, finding herself somewhat at a loss to understand them. However, from the most basic information, she could deduce that the burly man must be an employee of Xiao Han's company, and a heavy hitter at that.
"This is..." Zhao Lizhong looked at Lan Yudie curiously.
"Brother Zhao, she's my girlfriend, Lan Yudie!" Xiao Han said with a smile.
"Hello," Zhao Lizhong laughed upon hearing this: "Miss Lan, you must have experienced quite the romance to have won over our Director Xiao, haven't you?"
"Ah!" Lan Yudie exclaimed in surprise, her face turning slightly red, "He's just a bookworm. His romantic cells have starved to death."
Zhao Lizhong laughed even more: "Come on, please, this way inside!"
Zhao Lizhong seated the couple in the farthest corner of the dining hall, where the spot was quite pleasant, with a broad view. Next to them was a floor-to-ceiling window that overlooked the pedestrian flow outside. To their right, they could see the entire dining hall at a glance. It was a pretty nice spot.
"Brother Zhao, you go ahead with your business," Xiao Han responded.
"Sure thing!" Zhao Lizhong nodded immediately, not wanting to intrude further on Xiao Han and Lan Yudie.
Once seated, Lan Yudie asked curiously, "Xiao Han, there seems to be something going on with you guys, right?"
"Yes," Xiao Han nodded, "This year is truly our first year to strive!"
"What do you mean?" Lan Yudie asked curiously.
"Hanmen Company is preparing to establish a group company this year," Xiao Han replied, then added with a smile, "Once the group is established, we will immediately start working on listing through a company in Hong Kong. Once the company goes public, heh heh..."
"Wow!" Lan Yudie exclaimed in astonishment: "This... isn't that a bit extreme?"
