School Hunk or Childhood Sweetheart?-Chapter 437 - 438: The Lazy Girl
"Does your brother often help you with these?" Sheng Ting withdrew his gaze and continued to ask his daughter.
"Yeah!" The little girl nodded vigorously, then counted on her fingers, "Brother helps Bao’er with drawing, he also helps Bao’er with crafts, and he makes picture books for Bao’er. Brother is so amazing!"
The little girl wore a proud expression on her face.
Sheng Ting probably figured out why his son was falling asleep in class. He reached out and touched his daughter’s head, "Aren’t these things you should be completing on your own? Why let your brother do them?"
"Bao’er can’t do it, it’s too hard, too hard," the little girl replied emphatically, her big eyes blinking, not feeling there was anything wrong with having her brother help.
Sheng Ting couldn’t help but laugh and cry, realizing he had a daughter who knew how to take it easy!
Soon, Sheng Ye came in with a cup of warm milk and handed it to the little girl, "Drink it quick!"
Baoning took the milk and glanced at Sheng Ting, then whispered to Sheng Ye, "Brother, did you get into trouble?"
"What are you talking about? Of course not!" Sheng Ye outright denied.
He couldn’t admit it, he had to maintain his image in front of his sister.
The girl whispered to her brother while sneaking looks at Sheng Ting behind him, "Today mom came to pick you up, and dad seemed like he had something to say to you, surely you were up to no good at school."
Sheng Ye: ...
"Do you need my help?" the little girl blinked, looking cunning beyond her years.
Sheng Ye also stole a glance towards Sheng Ting, guessing what dad wanted to talk about, but he didn’t tell little Baoning. Instead, he reassured his sister, "No need, just finish your milk quickly and go to bed early. I’ll take the cup down and wash it later."
"Got it, thanks, brother, you’re the best!"
The little girl obediently nodded, her lips sweet as honey, and while drinking her milk, she comforted him with her big twinkling eyes, "Don’t be scared, if dad scolds you, I’ll help you."
"How will you help me?" Sheng Ye was a bit tempted.
"If dad scolds you, I’ll hug him and cry. Daddy loves me the most, if he hears me cry, he surely won’t scold you anymore." The little girl winked and whispered to him.
The siblings thought they were speaking quietly, but Sheng Ting heard everything loud and clear.
Watching the loving siblings, he felt amused yet helpless.
But more than anything, he felt reassured.
After watching little Baoning finish her milk, Sheng Ye then carried the cup and followed Sheng Ting out the door.
He turned off the light for her and gently shut the door behind them.
Seeing his son’s careful and skilled movements, Sheng Ting glanced back towards the room and said, "Don’t spoil her too much, be careful not to spoil her completely."
Sheng Ye looked up and said, "But didn’t mom and dad always say to protect my sister? And my sister is the best, she won’t be spoiled."
Sheng Ting touched his head and said, "Alright, our Xiao Ye has grown up. But to really protect your sister, just helping with crafts might not be enough?"
Sheng Ye looked at him puzzled.
Sheng Ting said, "What you need to do now is to study hard. Only when a person has enough capability, can they protect those they want to protect."
The young Sheng Ye looked thoughtful. He understood yet didn’t fully understand, but he knew he needed to study well to protect his sister and nodded, "I understand dad, I will study well."
Sheng Ting patted his shoulder, "Alright, head back to your room and rest."
