School Hunk or Childhood Sweetheart?-Chapter 449 - 450: Never Been So Flustered Before
Shen Technology, in the President’s office.
Shen Tan slammed her hand on the desk, her face contorted with indignation, "How can he be so shameless? I haven’t even settled the old scores with him yet, and he has the nerve to come back and say he wants to marry me, what does he take me for?"
Having known each other for so many years, Shen Weiyi still found it the first time she’d ever seen her lose control like this.
This girl had always lived self-reliantly and carefree; it was rare to see her worry about anything.
Even when she found out she was pregnant, she hadn’t been as anxious as this.
But this was about two children after all, Shen Weiyi herself would probably struggle to stay calm if she were in the same situation.
Shen Weiyi pushed the coffee that the secretary had just brought over towards her and comforted her, "Take a sip of coffee and calm down, then we can talk it over slowly."
"That bastard now even wants to take the children from me, how can I calm down?" Shen Tan felt like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode at any moment.
She was so angry now that she had completely lost her rationality, unable to calm down at all.
"Don’t worry!" Shen Weiyi said, "The children have always grown up with you, you have a stable job that’s enough to support both children, and they’ve always been happy with you. Even if it goes to court, based on the principle of favoring the children’s development, there’s a high probability that you will be awarded custody."
If it were purely a matter of child custody, Shen Weiyi felt there was no need for such concern.
Although the law stipulates that for children born out of wedlock, the father has the right to reclaim custody,
the court’s decision will consider the best interests of the child and generally follow the principle that favors their development.
After all, the two children had lived with Shen Tan for so many years, and she had a stable job, so under normal circumstances, it was unlikely that custody would be granted to the father.
But even so, Shen Tan still felt unsettled.
"What if?" Judging by Jiang Yu’s appearance, he seemed to be doing quite well.
The court might not necessarily rule in his favor.
And with two children, her biggest fear was what if the court decided to split them up, giving one to each parent?
She wanted both kids and didn’t want to give up on either of them.
"No, I need to talk to him," said Shen Tan, ever the impetuous one, as she got up and walked out.
Watching the hurried silhouette leave the office, Shen Weiyi couldn’t help but sigh.
With that man returning, who knows whether it was for better or worse.
Over the years, Shen Tan had devoted all her energy to her children and her job, balancing her work and the two kids while having almost no personal time for herself.
And although the children never verbalized it, she could tell they still longed for a father’s love. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
The arrival of Jiang Yu might actually be a good thing for the children; they wouldn’t have to envy other kids anymore or be called fatherless wild children by others.
Shen Weiyi, who grew up in a single-parent family, knew all too well what the children were going through.
Not everyone was like her, feeling that having Shen Juanzhi was enough, nor could every single parent be like Shen Juanzhi.
It wasn’t that they didn’t love their children; it was just that everyone had different personalities, energy levels varied, and their ways of treating children differed.
No matter how great Shen Tan was, she couldn’t completely replace the presence of a father.
Besides, she had to raise two children alone while also juggling her job.
Shen Weiyi felt truly sorry for her and secretly hoped that someone could help share her burden.
Although she was unclear about the details of Shen Tan’s breakup with Jiang Yu, the fact that Shen Tan would risk alienation and go through with having his children suggested it wasn’t all borne out of hatred.
