Chapter 450: Chapter 451: In Your Heart, Is This The Kind of Person I Am?

Leaving Shen Technology, Shen Tan headed straight for her new home.

But it wasn’t to her own house she went, instead, she marched right up and knocked on the door of the apartment opposite.

She knew that Jiang Yu had been staying at home these past few days, not venturing outside.

As soon as Jiang Yu opened the door, he was met with the formidable presence of Shen Tan.

On the way there, Shen Tan had already decided that she needed to be assertive in this conversation, to overpower him with her presence, to let him know that she would never give up the custody of the two little ones.

Yet, just as she was about to speak, she heard Jiang Yu say, "Come in and then we’ll talk!"

He seemed not at all surprised by her arrival.

Shen Tan’s prepared opening line suddenly got stuck in her throat, but she then said, "Fine, I’ll come in."

She was not afraid of him.

Shen Tan marched into his apartment wearing her high heels, not even bothering to change them out.

Jiang Yu didn’t remind her to do so either.

After Shen Tan entered the living room, she turned around and said to Jiang Yu, "Let’s talk."

"Okay!"

As soon as Jiang Yu had spoken, Shen Tan got straight to the point, "I can’t give you the children, nor can I marry you. Name your price, what will it take for you to not fight with me for the children’s custody?"

"Give me a moment," Jiang Yu then sat down on the sofa.

For the first time, Shen Tan noticed the laptop on the coffee table.

The laptop screen was lit, and she assumed he was in a hurry to work and didn’t pay much attention, but then she heard an excited voice from the computer saying, "Son, I thought I just heard a girl talking to you about a child. You have a child with someone? When did this happen, how old is the child? Boy or girl? How could you not tell me about such a big matter? Let me tell you, you must take good care of my grandson or granddaughter, your father and I will buy tickets to come over right away."

"Mom, I’ve got something to do, I’ll talk to you later," Jiang Yu ended the call emotionlessly, then closed the laptop and looked up at Shen Tan.

Shen Tan had frozen the moment she heard the voice, especially once she realized the identity of the speaker, her expression became complex as she said, "You were just... video chatting with someone?"

Jiang Yu didn’t answer her directly, instead saying, "You heard it just now, it’s not that I don’t want to agree with you, there are people who won’t agree."

Shen Tan, realizing the implications of the earlier conversation, quickly regained her composure and said, "You can tell them they heard wrong, or that someone walked into the wrong room, or even tell them that the child isn’t yours. Whatever it is, just make up some excuse to get past this. I believe you can do it. After all, lying and acting are what you’re best at, this shouldn’t be difficult for you."

"In your eyes, is that the kind of person I am?" Jiang Yu said, his eyebrows furrowing.

"Isn’t it?" Shen Tan tilted her head back, looking him in the face as she challenged him.

After all, wasn’t she the one with the most firsthand experience?

He had once approached her disguised as an innocent and harmless puppy, but in the end, it turned out he was neither a puppy nor harmless.

The truly innocent one was her, being manipulated at his whim.

She lost her heart, and fell into the trap.

Thinking herself a master of love, the first time she genuinely fell for someone, she hadn’t expected to take such a huge fall.

Did she hate him?

At first, of course, she did, but after coming to terms with it, she no longer hated him; it was her own fault for wanting to keep fish but ending up capsizing the boat.

But not hating him didn’t mean the past could be treated as if it never happened.
