School Hunk or Childhood Sweetheart?-Chapter 463 - 464: You Don’t Like Us?
"Ah! What a good child!"
Jiang’s mother’s heart nearly melted with affection for the two children, warmly beckoning them, "Come here to grandma, I’ve prepared gifts for you."
Shen Yan didn’t move, but Shen Ning, the cute little one, adapted very quickly to the sudden appearance of dad and grandpa and grandma. Upon hearing this, she toddled over to them.
With a sweet little voice, she said, "Are you really Ningbao’s grandma? But you don’t look like any other grandmas; you are prettier than all of them."
"Is that so?" Jiang’s mother’s face lit up with joy, indeed, a granddaughter is so considerate. Looking at the soft little girl in front of her, Jiang’s mother was very pleased, hurriedly taking out a pile of gifts from behind her, and placed them in front of the little girl, "These are all for you and your brother, take a look, do you like them?"
"Thank you, grandma," Shen Ning sweetly expressed, her flattery keeping Mrs. Shen’s smile unceasing.
Mr. Jiang’s gaze, however, fell on Shen Yan, who was standing to the side. As someone at the helm of a family, he naturally paid more attention to male descendants.
"You’re Shen Yan?"
The little guy nodded his head.
"Do you know who I am?"
Shen Yan glanced in Jiang Yu’s direction and said, "Mom said you are dad’s dad; I should call you grandpa."
"You don’t like us?" Mr. Jiang inferred from his small face.
"Will you take us away from mom?" the little guy countered with a question instead of an answer.
Without any hesitation, Mr. Jiang said, "You are children of the Jiang family; naturally, you should come back with us to the Jiang family’s home."
"I can’t go with you," the little guy shook his head. He pursed his lips, his little expression serious as he looked at Mr. Jiang, "Mom worked hard to raise my sister and me to this age, we need to stay by mom’s side."
"But living abroad with us, you and your sister could have a better life," Mr. Jiang said.
Shen Yan scrunched up his brow, his little face stern, "We don’t want a better life; we just want to be with mom."
Hearing this, Shen Ning slid down from Jiang’s mother’s embrace and ran to Shen Yan’s side, aligning with her brother, "Ningbao also wants to be with brother and mom." She then threw a wary glance at Mr. Jiang, Jiang’s mother, and Jiang Yu, "Will you separate us from mom? Are you bad people?"
Just when Jiang’s mother had finally warmed up to her dear granddaughter, Mr. Jiang’s words caused both children to become guarded, making them see them as bad people. Jiang’s mother immediately spoke up, "Good children, don’t listen to grandpa’s nonsense, no one is going to take you away from your mom."
She was a mother too and understood the bond between a child and their mom.
If someone tried to separate her children from her, she would not agree to it either.
However, the two little ones didn’t relax but kept their eyes on Mr. Jiang.
Despite their young age, they knew how to read adults’ facial expressions. They could discern when an adult’s words were true or false and who really had authority.
Although Mr. Jiang was not pleased with the children’s reluctance to go back to the Jiang family home with him, he also knew they had been raised well, exhibiting neither servility nor overbearingness in front of adults.
And with thoughts and convictions of their own, they were truly children of the Jiang family.
"Alright, let’s have dinner!" Mr. Jiang then declared.
The meal went fairly smoothly.
Throughout, Jiang’s mother kept serving food to the little ones.
Shen Yan was more reserved and simply said thank you, while Shen Ning, the little girl, kept repeating, "Thank you, grandma, you’re so nice, I really, really like..." which delighted the old lady immensely.
When it was time to leave, Mr. Jiang addressed Jiang Yu, "I don’t care by what means, but these two children must recognize their ancestry."
