School Hunk or Childhood Sweetheart?-Chapter 462 - 463 Don’t Forget What You Promised Me
"Alright!"
Jiang Yu had anticipated her reaction, but when he heard her refuse without hesitation, he couldn’t help but feel a flicker of disappointment cross his face.
"I’ll let you know after I’ve arranged the place," he said.
"Got it!" Shen Tan finished and hung up the phone without any hesitation.
That afternoon, when the kindergarten let out, Shen Tan personally picked up the two little ones and then took them to the place she had agreed upon with Jiang Yu.
Mr. Jiang and Jiang’s mother had been eagerly waiting, frequently glancing toward the door. "Have they arrived yet? How much longer until they get here? Should you call and check?"
Jiang Yu, unable to help himself, reminded her, "Mom, you’ve asked that question more than a dozen times already. They’re already on their way, please just wait a little longer."
"It’s just because I’m so eager to see my precious grandchildren!" Jiang’s mother didn’t think there was anything wrong with her reaction. In fact, she felt that her son wasn’t being considerate at all.
What was so wrong with her wanting to see her eldest grandson and granddaughter quickly?
If he had been more competent, she could have met her precious grandchildren six years ago.
Jiang’s mother ignored her eldest son and turned to Mr. Jiang. "How do I look today? Do you think the children will like me?"
"Just sit tight," Mr. Jiang advised, though he too was anxious. Having been a person of authority, he had long been trained to keep his emotions in check, and even if he was eager inside, it wouldn’t be easily noticed by others.
Jiang’s mother glared at Mr. Jiang, "I don’t believe you aren’t eager to see your grandchildren." She then started to criticize Jiang Yu resentfully, "You don’t even know what your own children like, and you call yourself a father. Totally useless. I have no idea if they will like the gifts I prepared for them."
Jiang Yu: ...
So now that the grandchildren are here, the son is just picked up like some castoff, huh?
He had only just found out he had children himself and hadn’t had the chance to get acquainted with them before they arrived. Could this really be blamed on him?
"Mom, both children are very well-behaved and sensible. No matter what you prepare, they will like it," he reassured.
"Really?" Jiang’s mother breathed a sigh of relief, then her lips curved into a smile. "Even if they don’t, it’s okay, I can buy them something else later."
In the midst of the conversation, Jiang Yu’s phone rang. He glanced at it and said, "Mom, the kids are here, I’ll go receive them."
"Go quickly," Jiang’s mother urged.
Downstairs, Shen Tan cautioned the two children, "Remember to be polite when you meet them."
"Got it, Mom!" The two little ones nodded in unison.
Shen Ning, the little girl, looked up and asked, "Mom, aren’t you coming with us?"
"Mom will wait for you down here," Shen Tan replied, patting her little girl’s head. As she looked up, she saw Jiang Yu coming out. She handed the two children over to him, not forgetting to remind him, "Don’t forget what you promised me."
"Alright!"
Jiang Yu took the two little ones back to the private room.
Jiang’s mother’s gaze fell on Shen Yan’s face as he entered, and she stood up excitedly, "The resemblance is uncanny!" Those eyes, that nose, he was the spitting image of his father as a child.
Afraid of startling the two, Jiang’s mother tried to restrain the urge to rush forward, smiling and motioning for them to come, "You must be Yanyan and Ningning, right? Come here, let Grandma take a good look at you."
The two children stood still but politely greeted the elders, "Hello, Grandpa and Grandma."
"I’m Yanyan."
"I’m Ningning."
The two little ones were both fair and beautiful with the delicate grace of fine porcelain, their appearance instantly endearing.
Even Mr. Jiang, who was usually stern, couldn’t help but show a touch of emotion on his face.
