School Hunk or Childhood Sweetheart?-Chapter 469 - 470: Keeping Distance
Although Shen Tan felt a tinge of reluctance, she still nodded with a smile, "Of course you can, Miss Sun. If you like it, I’ll give this dress to you as a form of compensation."
It was time to learn to let go of things past their expiration date.
Sun Yun’er stopped admiring her reflection in the mirror and looked at her, "How could I accept this?"
Shen Tan replied, "Miss Sun, there’s no need to be polite. Clothes are designed to be worn by those who appreciate them. And I think, Miss Sun, you suit it better than I do."
Sun Yun’er was very satisfied with her reasoning, and even more so with the dress and her own reflection in the mirror.
"Since Mr. Shen is so sincere, I’ll accept it. However, I don’t want to take advantage of you, so consider this dress as something I’ve purchased. How much do I owe you?" She paused, then continued, "Now I believe that the mix-up with the dress design was indeed a misunderstanding. With Miss Shen’s outstanding design talent, it stands to reason she wouldn’t deign to plagiarize."
"Thank you, Miss Sun, for your willingness to believe in us. The incident truly happened due to a staff oversight that led to the design blueprints being leaked. We will take it as a lesson for the future."
The issue with the dress was thus resolved.
When Shen Tan returned home, she immediately saw Jiang Yu coming out of the kitchen.
"You’re back?" Jiang Yu had just finished making dinner and called out to her, "Perfect timing, you can wash your hands and get ready for dinner."
Seeing him, Shen Tan couldn’t help but think of the dress and their past, which instantly complicated her emotions.
Lately, she had grown accustomed to him coming and going from her house, to his presence, but the incident with the dress reminded her that their relationship had long since passed.
"I’m not eating, you can have dinner with the two kids!" Shen Tan suddenly felt miserable and retreated to her room. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Jiang Yu watched her back, his eyebrows involuntarily furrowing.
The two little ones sat at the dining table, looking up at Jiang Yu, "Daddy, did you make mom mad again?"
"No, your mom is probably just tired from work. You two eat up quickly, then go take a bath. Don’t worry mom," even the two little ones could sense the change in Shen Tan’s attitude towards him, and Jiang Yu naturally noticed it too.
But what could have happened to her today?
Jiang Yu sat with the little ones until they finished their dinner, cleaned up the kitchen, and made sure they had bathed. Before leaving, he glanced at Shen Tan’s room and ultimately decided to knock on the door.
"Is something the matter?" Shen Tan, who had just finished bathing, came to open the door.
Jiang Yu stood outside and said, "I just wanted to let you know, they’ve had dinner and taken their baths."
"I know, thank you!" Shen Tan said, her expression cold and her tone particularly detached.
"Is something bothering you?" Jiang Yu asked with a furrowed brow.
She seemed to be in a bad mood.
"It’s nothing," Shen Tan replied, clearly not wanting to elaborate.
Jiang Yu wanted to say more, but then Shen Tan gave him the hint to leave, "You’ve been looking after them a lot lately, and for that I’m grateful, but given our current relationship, I think it’s inappropriate for you to be here every day. It can lead to misunderstandings, so it’s probably best if we keep our distance from now on."
Jiang Yu detected her intention to set boundaries with him.
He thought their relationship had been improving over time, but was caught off guard by her sudden coldness, leaving him puzzled and disappointed...
