School Hunk or Childhood Sweetheart?-Chapter 474 - 475: That’s Good
Since the day they had parted on bad terms, the two hadn’t spoken a single word to each other in a fortnight. When Shen Tan saw the other party again, she was habitually wearing a cold expression.
In order not to let Jiang Yu fight for custody of their little ones, she even stopped letting the kids run over to the neighbor’s place.
Jiang Yu seemed to become much busier during this period; Shen Ning, the lovely little girl, snuck over next door to find him several times, only to return looking disappointed each time.
After several days without seeing him, the little girl visibly became unhappy, her little face listless.
Shen Tan noticed her mood was off and asked her if something had happened?
The little girl tearfully reddened her eyes and asked Shen Tan, crying if daddy didn’t like them anymore, if he didn’t want them?
Children from single-parent families tend to be more fragile and sensitive.
Shen Tan felt a mix of emotions as she comforted her daughter for a long time, telling her that daddy didn’t dislike her and hadn’t abandoned her. Daddy was just really busy lately and would come to spend time with her after he was done. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
The biggest perk of children is how easily they can be soothed; their emotions come and go quickly.
Although she had soothed her daughter, Shen Tan’s brow remained furrowed.
When Jiang Yu came home in the evening, he found the door opposite open; he hesitated for a moment but still went inside.
There he saw Shen Tan sitting in the living room, her gaze shifting toward the door at the sound of footsteps.
"Do you have time to talk?" Shen Tan’s voice was calm, as if she was specifically waiting for him.
"You wanted to see me for something?" Jiang Yu walked over and sat down opposite her.
Shen Tan: "Have you been very busy recently?"
"Um," Jiang Yu responded, looking at her with a strange expression, "I have been a bit busy. Did something happen?" Given her personality, she wouldn’t usually pay special attention to his schedule.
"It’s about Ningbao. She hasn’t seen you for several days and is very unhappy, thinking you don’t want her anymore."
"I’m sorry, I didn’t know. Is she asleep? I’ll go see her." Jiang Yu got up and headed toward the children’s room.
Shen Tan called out to him from behind: "Jiang Yu, no matter what happens between us, I hope it won’t affect the children." This was a decision she had pondered for a long time.
Jiang Yu turned around: "Don’t worry, I won’t let my emotions affect the children. I’ve indeed been caught up with a lot of things recently, but I will explain everything to them clearly."
Shen Tan watched him, pausing for a moment before finally saying, "That’s good then!"
In the room, the two little ones had already gone to bed.
Jiang Yu went to see his daughter first.
The little girl was already asleep, her white little face peaceful and exceptionally well-behaved, tender.
He couldn’t resist touching the little girl’s face, his entire demeanor softening.
No wonder they say a man must have a daughter, for her existence will always keep a father’s heart tender.
Suddenly, the person who had been asleep opened her eyes and seeing him, murmured hazily, "Daddy?"
Jiang Yu touched the little girl’s cheek: "It’s Daddy."
The little girl rubbed her eyes and sat up from bed, her soft little hands reaching out to hug Jiang Yu’s neck, "Daddy, don’t you like Ningbao anymore?"
"Of course not, Daddy loves Ningbao the most."
Jiang Yu picked up his daughter and sat her on his lap: "I’m sorry, Daddy hasn’t been good, Daddy has been too busy recently and neglected Ningbao. Daddy promises you, no matter how late, he will come to see you and your brother, okay?"
"Really? Can daddy come home earlier from now on?"
"Yes!"
After this day, the employees of a company that had just been acquired found out that their new CEO, who had been working overtime for half a month, suddenly stopped working late. Not only did he leave work on time every day, but he even left earlier than his employees.
