Chapter 105: The Third Mole

"Adam!"

A busty young woman entered from the mansion’s rear opening, rushing toward Smith, who was lying dead on the floor. Arriving at the puddle of blood soaking the lad’s cold body, she stood there and stared at Smith with a horrified expression.

While Ravi was backing away from the woman, Drai carefully laid down Jack’s and Samara’s bodies.

Soon, the young woman finally recovered from her shock and was trembling in anger instead. She slowly turned around, facing Drai and Ravi.

"Who did this?!" the woman questioned as she looked at the pair furiously.

Before Ravi could open his mouth, Drai had already replied, "He killed himself."

Both Ravi and the young woman stared at Drai. Ravi was perplexed, wondering why Drai had given such an answer. Meanwhile, based on her bulging veins and clenching teeth, the young woman was obviously angered by Drai’s reply.

"Don’t fuck with me! Tell me what really happened here!" she barked while threateningly raising her hands that were brimming with mana.

Ravi couldn’t help but snort. He wondered why the young woman, who was likely part of the intruders, didn’t know that a spell-restriction was currently active.

Ravi’s snort irked the young woman. She immediately swiped her hand, sending a pink stream of smoke toward Ravi.

Seeing this, Drai raised his arm to block the attack. But to his surprise, the pink smoke passed right through his arm and rapidly enveloped Ravi’s head

"How can you still use spells?!" Ravi exclaimed in shock. But before he could inquire further, his eyelids suddenly felt extremely heavy.

"Hooaah... So sleepy..."

After yawning one more time, Ravi finally slumped to the ground, lying in an awkward posture. A few seconds later, he was already fast asleep, snoring loudly.

Drai briefly glanced at the professor before shifting his gaze toward the young lady.

"What have you done, Tamara? Or whoever you really are," Drai asked coldly. After witnessing Paul’s and Smith’s betrayal, the sudden appearance of Jian’s classmate did little to faze him.

"Heh. Looks like you haven’t forgotten about me. If you miss me that much, you shouldn’t have embarrassed me that night," Tamara replied with a scornful smirk.

Drai didn’t actually remember her face much, but her voluptuous figure was difficult to forget, especially since Drai hardly knew any other student with such a large bust.

Ignoring Tamara’s remark, Drai crouched and checked on Ravi.

’He looks unharmed—is he just sleeping? I’m not sure if I should wake him up, though. What if I end up hurting him?’ Drai thought after inspecting Ravi’s pulse and pupils, which seemed normal.

"Look at me, dumbass, or I’ll make sure that the old man sleeps forever!" Tamara threatened.

Frowning, Drai decided to comply. He immediately stood up and turned around, locking eyes with her.

"Good boy. Now tell me, who killed Adam? And where did Trojan Horse—the professor you know as Paul—go?"

"I told you that Smith killed himself."

"Nonsense! I know Adam well! There’s no way he committed suicide! And even if he did, why would he do that!? It doesn’t make any sense! Don’t lie to me, idiot!" Tamara lashed out.

"Who said he committed suicide? I only said that the guy killed himself," Drai remarked.

Another vein popped out on Tamara’s forehead as she snapped, "What’s the difference, dumbass!? If you keep messing with me, I’ll kill you both for real!"

Drai sneered and shook his head mockingly.

"Looks like your abnormal chest growth stunted your brain’s development, so let me explain. Suicide is death by one’s own hands, whereas killing oneself means causing one’s own demise regardless of the actual killer. Think about it. If Smith hadn’t betrayed the academy, would he have died? Probably not, right? That’s why I said that he killed himself. The poor dude basically dug his own grave."

Hearing Drai’s condescending words and semantic interpretation, Tamara finally snapped.

"You’re also digging your own grave!" Tamara shouted as she unleashed her pink smoke.

With his head being covered by Tamara’s spell, Drai’s sight soon turned blurry while his mind became hazy. But as soon as his eyes felt tired, he suddenly regained clarity.

’Is this what happened to Professor Ravi? It seems my skills protected me. Wait... let’s use this to my advantage...’

Meanwhile, Tamara was looking at her target impatiently.

"Why is it taking so long? Are idiots more resistant to my spell? I should try it on Donk later. If it’s really the case, he probably won’t fall asleep before I run out of mana."

As she was mulling over the matter, Drai finally dropped to the floor. He also ended up snoring but a lot quieter than Ravi.

Tamara sighed in relief and immediately dispersed the pink smoke. She had no need for it after her spell had taken effect, and mana-wise, it was costly to sustain.

"I really need to conserve my mana since there’s only a single mana potion left. Lulling all those professors was really costly. Luckily, the potions I received were barely enough. Whoever handled the operation’s logistics must be really smart." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Tamara walked to Drai and Ravi who were lying side-by-side in different poses. Ravi was facing down with a bent lower body, his butt sticking out. On the other hand, Drai was lying sideways, facing Smith’s body across the room. His left arm was weirdly bent underneath his ribs while his right arm was dangling in front of his torso.

Tamara crouched beside Drai. Looking at Drai’s peaceful sleeping face, her agitation grew.

Ptui!

Having spat on Drai’s face, Tamara calmed down a little. She turned her head, gazing at her deceased companion.

Tamara pursed her lips as a tinge of sorrow stabbed her heart. She and Adam belonged to the same batch of children who were kidnapped by the Order to fill their ranks. After surviving the initiation and intensive training, they became close comrades who were always assigned missions together.

This was one of the reasons the Order’s top brass assigned them here. Tamara was an obvious choice due to her tranquilizing skill, and the higher-ups figured that Adam would complement Tamara’s skillset and boost her morale since the duo was an inseparable pair, raising the operation’s success chance. And they weren’t wrong—their operation would’ve probably gone well had Drai not intervened.

Tamara wiped away a single tear running down her cheek. Despite the Order’s strict initiation and training, they couldn’t completely erase their members’ weaknesses. Donk had his idiocy while Peanut had his lunacy. And for Tamara, Adam was her vulnerability.

"Sorry I was too late, Adam," Tamara whispered, "but I really came here as fast as I could after you told me to release my spell from this old bastard and his butler. I thought I could witness your moment of glory as you apprehend these two. Who knew I would see you lying dead instead? But where the hell is Trojan Horse? How could he leave Adam alone? I don’t know exactly what happened, but if Trojan Horse were here, Adam would definitely still be alive..."

"That’s where you’re wrong," a cold voice said, sending a shiver down Tamara’s spine.
