Chapter 88: Scamming a Lunatic

"Aaahhh! Damn you!" Peanut screamed as he started chasing after Jian again.

Jian repeatedly unleashed Crescent Slash, worried that the lunatic would catch up to him. His altitude was rapidly declining since he was only gliding through the momentum of his skill’s recoil and not truly flying.

Jian shifted his flight path toward a nearby building, aiming to lose his pursuer by making use of the structure. But before he could reach it, something hit him.

"Ouch!" Jian cried as he felt a sting on his left shoulder. He didn’t have time to check it though as his path was veering to the side due to the impact, making it impossible for him to reach the building.

"Gotcha!" Peanut cheered. He then pranced toward Jian while shooting out a few tiny projectiles from his hand.

Jian sensed the incoming attack and tried blocking it. Full Moon turned into a flurry, parrying the tiny projectiles. But with each parry, Jian was pushed faster toward the ground.

"Argh!"

Jian missed a single projectile and it hit him on his chest. The pain was bearable, but it made him lose his flow, which resulted in another two projectiles hitting his left arm and right thigh.

With the ground closing in rapidly, Jian had no choice but to save himself from crashing. Ignoring Peanut’s attacks, he stabbed downward and shouted, "Fierce Thrust!"

The ground beneath him exploded and he landed hard, rolling on the floor to disperse the impact. And as he was trying to dash away again, his calf was hit by another attack, making him stumble and fall.

"Shit..." Jian remarked upon seeing Peanut’s lanky figure just a few yards away from him.

"What did you say about daggers again, shithead?" Peanut said while launching another projectile. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Jian quickly blocked the bullet that was aiming for his head. The projectile lost its momentum and fell near him. Glancing at it, Jian’s face twisted as he was finally aware of what Peanut had been attacking him with.

"Are you fucking insane!?" Jian cursed as he frantically pulled out all the projectiles that had hit him from his body.

"Kekeke... It’s a bit of a waste since they’re part of my precious collection. But I can always replace them, especially if I can kill a few students without Venus knowing, kekeke..." Peanut said while quivering in excitement.

A shiver ran down Jian’s spine upon hearing Peanut’s words. He dug into his back and finally removed the last projectile that was embedded in him.

"You crazy fucker!" Jian threw the projectile back at Peanut, who caught it easily since it was a weak throw, unlike his own attacks.

"Hey, be gentle! You’ll ruin Tommy’s skin! Ain’t that right, Tommy?" Peanut said, lightly kissing the projectile that he was holding. It was a severed fingertip that had been sliced off right at the joint.

Jian suppressed his disgust and quickly propped himself up. He glanced at the other dried out finger tips that were scattered around him after he pulled them out.

’Dying in battle is one thing, but why does it have to be against this maniac...’ Jian inwardly cried. He knew that his fingertips would probably end up in Peanut’s assorted body-parts collection if he really died to him.

Meanwhile, Peanut had put away the fingertip into a gruesome leather sack beneath his robe. He was now slowly making his way to Jian while smiling menacingly.

"Now, back to my question. What did you say about daggers again?" Peanut asked.

"Uh... I said... that they’re really awesome!"

"Huh?" Peanut was stunned by Jian’s unexpected reply.

"Yeah, you’ve opened my eyes, sir! Daggers are the best, and swords are definitely shitty versions of daggers! Why would I use a needlessly long weapon that’s so inconvenient when I can wield a perfectly sized dagger instead? Fuck this shitty sword!" Jian said, looking at Full Moon with feigned annoyance.

"...Hahaha! Right! Isn’t she awesome?! Just look at her sexy curve!" Peanut gleefully said while admiring his dagger.

Seeing that his acting was working, Jian doubled down.

"Yeah! She’s the greatest weapon I’ve ever seen in my entire life! I must make a shrine for her after I go home!"

"...Shrine?" Peanut asked, his smile vanished.

"Y-yeah! A shrine!" Jian nervously repeated.

"Why make a shrine?"

"To... honor her?" Jian replied unconvincingly.

Peanut fell silent. He gazed downward at the dagger in his right hand, as if contemplating.

Looking at Peanut’s serious face, Jian tightened his grip on Full Moon, ready to unleash his skills at a moment’s notice.

Seconds later, Peanut finally raised his head, his face was beaming.

"You’re right! Why didn’t I think of that? I must build Miss Dandelion a shrine to honor her beauty after this mission! And I’ll put it right in the middle of the congregation hall so everyone in the base can see it! Thanks for the idea, motherfucker! Hahaha!"

Jian let out a sigh of relief. He was worried that Peanut would really defy his orders just to kill him for shitting on daggers.

Jian felt that his mouth wasn’t at fault this time since Peanut was the one who started chasing him down out of nowhere, minutes after he had ran away from Venus and Donk. Jian making fun of Peanut’s weapon of choice was just his standard retaliation procedure.

"By the way," Peanut said after calming down from the excitement, "I think a swordsman’s head would be a nice ornamental piece for Miss Dandelion’s shrine, don’t you think?"

Peanut’s dagger buzzed as it began to emanate a jagged red aura.

While his heart was palpitating, Jian shifted his gaze and looked beyond Peanut, shouting, "Help me, Miss Venus! He’s trying to kill me!"

Hearing this, Peanut immediately retracted his aura and turned around.

"Don’t listen to this heretic, Venus—I was just toying with him," Peanut hastily explained. However, his words were met with silence, as no one was actually there.

"Venus?" Peanut called, his eyes darting around. After a few seconds he finally realized he had been made a fool.

Peanut instantly released his aura once more and leaped backward while slashing. However, his surprise attack only managed to hit empty air.

In the distance, a hazy blue figure could be seen speeding away.

"You!"

Peanut roared and sprinted forward, pursuing the scamming heretic. His bloodshot eyes had lost all their playfulness.

Arriving at a junction, Jian suddenly sensed a murderous aura closing in from behind. He turned his head and saw that Peanut was nearly catching up to him. The red aura around his dagger seemed to be channeling his fury as small red lightning were flickering from it.

While he was panicking, Jian noticed a familiar figure from the corner of his eye.

"Help me, Drai!" he hastily shouted.

"Do you think I’m the same as that dumbass Donk? You won’t fool me twice, fucker!" Peanut angrily remarked before pouncing on Jian, aiming a lethal strike at his neck.

However, a giant foot suddenly slammed into his side, sending him flying high into the air beyond the campus buildings until he eventually disappeared from sight.
