Shadows of the Deep Space-Chapter 101 Cemetery (Second Update)
Chapter 101: Chapter 101 Cemetery (Second Update)
"Okay, Director Chen Zhu!"
The teachers responsible for distributing the uniforms hurriedly responded.
At this moment, Mia picked up a bottle of liquor, took a sip, and nonchalantly said to Su Ming and the others,
"Line up for your uniforms yourself, then go change. Once you’re done, come and get me."
Before Su Ming and the others could react, Mia staggered forward, walked straight up to Director Chen Zhu’s chair, sat down with a plop, and even propped her long, white legs up on the table.
In an instant, the students receiving their uniforms, as well as the teachers distributing them, were shocked and stared at Mia.
Even Director Chen Zhu looked at Mia with a stern face, but he didn’t explode with anger, although his eyes clearly showed he was seething.
Unfortunately for him, Mia seemed utterly indifferent to the disapproving gazes, clearly having no intention of getting up.
"Who’s that?"
"She’s wearing a teacher’s robe; she must be a teacher, right? I just saw her leading a group of students."
"Who’s so unlucky to end up with her as a teacher?"
...
Su Ming and the others quietly lined up to get their uniforms.
The process was rather swift; it didn’t take long for Su Ming to receive his uniform.
He carried it into the Men’s Changing Room Number 43 in Building No.1.
Inside the changing room, there were rows of electronic lockers. Just a swipe of a student card would automatically open a compartment where one could place their jacket and trousers and retrieve them later.
Su Ming took the Imperial Court Academy’s school uniform from its plastic packaging.
He examined the uniform carefully. The white top of the Imperial Court Academy was made from a stiff yet soft high-quality fabric, with a sleek cut, smooth lines, an elegant stand-up collar, slightly gathered sleeves, a star emblem on the chest showing a unique identity mark, and straight, slim trousers made from superior material.
Su Ming was inwardly impressed. The Imperial Court Academy really spared no expense; the uniform must have been costly.
Thus, he quickly changed into the uniform, placed his clothes in the locker, and then left the changing room.
A short while later.
After everyone had changed, Mia, who had been dawdling, finally stood up from her chair and walked over to them.
"Teacher, we’ve changed our clothes. What’s next?"
"Come on, I’ll take you all for a photo session," Mia yawned as she spoke, the high alcohol content making her a bit sleepy.
"Photo session?"
"Taking photos at the start of school?"
...
Angel and the others looked puzzled and unsure.
"Let’s go, let’s go."
Mia, holding her bottle, gestured to everyone and walked ahead, without offering any explanation.
The others had no choice but to follow Teacher Mia, confused.
After a long time, Mia led Su Ming and the others to the southeast corner of the Imperial Court Academy.
Here stood a solemn and imposing gate made of thick stone, large and sturdy, exuding a strong sense of history.
The top of the gate was arched, with the words "Eternal Resting Place" engraved in the center, surrounded by unique linear patterns.
Upon seeing the name on the gate, all of Su Ming and his group showed their respect.
This place was a cemetery within the Imperial Court Academy, where the academy erected tombstones for graduates who had sacrificed their lives over the years.
Thus, the cemetery was also one of the spiritual pillars of the Imperial Court Academy.
At this moment, Mia, clearly inebriated, led Su Ming and the others towards the gate of the cemetery.
However, just as they approached,
a Guard Captain clad in a bright red Third Generation Exoskeleton Armor·Fiery Flame, burly with thick eyebrows and a stout figure, immediately stepped forward and stopped Mia.
"Wait!"
"Eh? Captain Gat, why are you stopping me?"
Mia asked nonchalantly.
Captain Gat’s gaze landed on Mia’s hand as he spoke gravely.
"Mia, this is a cemetery, you can’t bring alcohol in here!"
"Aw, come on," Mia replied cheerily. "I’m bringing this alcohol to pay tribute to our deceased comrades."
Mia said with a laugh.
Captain Gat raised his eyebrows, suppressing his irritation. freēnovelkiss.com
"If someone else had said that, I might have believed it. Coming from you, not a chance! Hand it over right now."
"Fine, here you go!"
Mia cheerfully retorted, and then, picking up the bottle, she put it to her lips and tipped her head back!
Gulp, gulp~
Su Ming and the others’ eyes widened in disbelief as Mia downed half a bottle of vodka.
"Burp! Here you go!"
After finishing her drink, Mia shoved the bottle at Gat.
In an instant, Captain Gat exploded like a lit barrel of gunpowder, roaring furiously.
"Mia, you, you’re too much!"
At that moment, Gat’s subordinates hurriedly stepped forward to hold back the captain, pleading with him.
"Captain, calm down, you can’t hit her!"
...
No matter what, Mia was a teacher at the Imperial Court Academy, and if the captain actually hit her, he would be out of a job.
"Oh, let go of me! I get it."
Captain Gat angrily stomped his foot, unable to understand how the academy could allow such a teacher to exist, considering it a disgrace.
As soon as they saw Captain Gat had calmed down, everyone slowly let go of him.
"Don’t be angry, it’s not a big deal."
Mia replied, still slightly inebriated and chuckling.
"Get in, don’t irritate my eyes here."
Captain Gat said through clenched teeth.
With a cheery wave of her hand towards Su Ming and the others, Mia said.
"Dear students, let’s go!"
Su Ming and the others silently followed Mia inside, starting to get used to it.
Soon, they entered the cemetery.
The cemetery was vast, but a glance showed rows and rows of stone tombstones with hardly any open space.
Su Ming and the others were deeply shocked; so many had been sacrificed.
Mia, seemingly indifferent to the surrounding tombstones, led Su Ming and the others along the main road deep into the area.
As they walked, Su Ming and the others glanced at the tombstones along the road, each marked with a black-and-white photo, name, and epitaph.
Seeing the young faces on the tombstones weighed more heavily on everyone; each tombstone seemed like a life in slumber.
As they followed Mia further, the main road branched into many paths leading into different sections of the cemetery.
Su Ming saw many figures in school uniforms, military uniforms, and exoskeleton armors, carrying paper flowers and heading down different paths.
However, they did not turn onto any of those branch paths but continued along the main road.
After a moment, Mia led Su Ming and the others to an open circular plaza paved with thick rock, with moss growing between the stones.
In the center of the plaza, they could see three hundred-meter-tall rock statues standing side by side. The upper bodies of the statues on the left and right were smashed, with rubble scattered around, but the one in the center was completely preserved.
