Shattering Humanity-Chapter 475: Hostile Hospital

Within the hidden sanctuary’s hospital room, the only two beds are filled with occupants Scylia and Aiden. Both victims to the day’s unfortunate mishaps, tethered to heart monitors, beeping at a steady pace.

Dreaming of her first encounter with the man she loves, Scylia’s beating heart is at a quicker rate with almost 12 pulses for every 8 of Aiden’s resting rate.

In the room, Daisuki sits beside the bed of his red haired bride to be, his bandage wrapped hand rubbing against her arm. Waiting for the faithful woman to wake up.

Standing at the foot of her bed, with his sniper strapped around his shoulder in its grey zipper case, Charybdis looks across at his sleeping sister’s face.

Daisuki: "So she tried fighting Nephilim’s leader to prevent our wedding day from being postponed?"

Also in the room, Itsuka is sitting at the foot of Aiden’s bed and she nods in confirmation.

Itsuka: "After both Charybdis and Jormy helped defend me against that m-...’boy’, Laban’s sister showed up.

It was as if she had planned the whole day out to that very moment and was using the opportunity to study Takamagahara for tomorrow."

She looks at Charybdis and continues her recap to their encounter with a DæMon.

Itsuka: "She even knew Persephone would conveniently show up there too and took her back to the mountains after easily beating Scylia.

She moved so fast, I probably wouldn’t have been able to defend myself either."

Having the missing clues filled in for him, the younger brother/sniper tightens his fist in confused distress.

Char: "Persephone’s Aunt did this to Scylia?"

Regrettably, Itsuka nods in silence again and looks back across the mattress she’s on.

A secretively aggravated Saku is leaning with his back against the wall, and his Anjell Eye is active. His blessed symbiote allowing him to watch all the events each Takamagahara member had gone through that day.

In his thorough investigation, the Yin Vessel watches the war recap of his rivaling division Captains.

At his feet, both napping Xaaydagaay and snuggling Laban have grabbed one of his legs while Friend is lying awake under him.

The clingy followers of their Yin God clutch at his knees after their long, eventful day.

There is a silence in the room only interrupted by the heart monitors, and Laban’s light snoring.

Once he’s able to fully accept Scylia’s condition, Daisuki takes a deep breath, and then glances at unconscious Aiden.

The young man’s blanket has been pulled up, revealing his now appropriately bandaged leg where the genius had his Iceman bitten foot cut off.

Daisuki: "And you said two Icemen were thrown into the shopping center, causing one of them to bite this poor boy who got trapped under the fallen scrap metal?"

Still paying attention to Shelly’s unrelenting Mach 4 ambush on the helpless enemy, now knowing of Katsu’s torturous situation. Swallowing his spit, Saku nods at his mentor’s question without a word in return.

Being more keen of the distrust between his two division Captains than he has let on, the Squad 40 Mentor focuses on the delinquent of his group.

Daisuki: "Are Katsu and Shelly okay?

How are the two of them after all that’s happened today?

I’m sure they both have something interesting and awe-inspiring to tell us all when they get back."

Saku deactivates his Anjell Eye, making the Yin aura fade.

He sucks his teeth before finally responding.

Saku: "Hmph, well you can ask them yourself."

Before fully comprehending the statement, the frantic rustling of a door knob grabs everyone’s attention.

From the other side of the only door in the room, there comes a banging knock that wakes up both Xaaydagaay and Laban.

Finally, Shelly’s muffled voice indicates the pair in question has made it back to Inner Sanpaku and are searching for their dear, injured friend from the Sister Mountains.

Shelly: "Is anybody in there?

Are Aiden and Big Sis okay?"

Itsuka hurries over and unlocks the deadbolt. She then turns the knob and opens the heavy, dented metal door.

On the other side of the doorway, Shelly stands alone, without her purpose, Katsu by her side.

Surprised by this image, confused Itsuka sticks her head out and looks left to right down the dark hallway.

Itsuka: "Where’s Katsu?"

Making her way into the medical room, Shelly looks at the ground, afraid of what she is about to see.

Shelly: "Katsu will be here in a few minutes. He just had to describe to that Vinland Navy Captain, what the Marine Captain did to him during his torture."

Itsuka: "Torture!?

They actually tortured Katsu?"

Daisuki doesn’t say a word, but carefully listens to the not as fun, interesting story as he had hoped for his young, promising duo.

Shelly nods but lifting her head, the Ace is stunned to see not only her allies unconscious in their beds, but fixates on the bandaged nub to the leg of the only known human smarter than herself.

Shelly: "Ai-Aiden..."

While Laban tries to ignore the dramatic moment and drift back to sleep, Saku side stares at the purpose to the Vessel of his rivaling universal force.

Saku(thinking): *That bastard can control Icemen without looking at them, and he used that ability to have a hidden giant in the ocean, toss two smaller Icemen perfectly at our location.

How the Hell did that psycho manage to know where all of us were going to be, when we would be there, and only use his Anjell Eye abilities in that brief moment before his attack dog broke in to save him?*

While he contemplates the possibilities, the room watches as a shocked Shelly staggers to her friend’s bedside, tears in her blue pooling eyes.

After gently touching the bandages, Shelly clenches her teeth and with grit in her voice, asks through them...

Shelly: "Who did this to him?"

Unable to fall back asleep due to the commotion, the DaeMon at Saku’s feet answers with out a care of the immediate consequences.

Laban DaeMon: "I did.

Stupid nerd should have just stayed at the Fire Station and played with his off brand gadgets."

Due to her condescending tone, leering Shelly stares at her ’cousin’ with nothing but pure distain.

She steps towards her first defeated DaeMon while the witch continues to talk with her eyes closed. Unaware of the hostile force moving closer towards her.

Laban DaeMon: "If he didn’t flail like a bitch the entire time, he might’ve made it out of there with both his heels."

Due to a shadow casting over her closed eyelids, the instigator clutching to her one true God finally opens her heterospecies eyes.

Standing over Laban, Shelly’s fist tightens and the three Valkyrie blue eyes lock in on one another.

Itsuka attempts to deescalate the tension in the room.

Itsuka: "Hey, Shelly...

You probably went through a lot today, and I get it.

Let’s just calm down and get ready for a relaxing bath, what do you say?"

Feeling somewhat untouchable while pressed against Saku, the overconfident ex-Don makes one final comment in an attempt to push Shelly mentally, and provide evidence to Takamagahara, not to trust the Yang Vessel or his Valkyrie blooded body guard.

Laban DaeMon: "What are you gunna do, Skalmönd?

You gunna hit me?

Yea, Saku and I cut your little friend’s alien bitten foot off, but we also saved his life from being encased in crystal ice.

Trying to be the next great inventor using Seiõr, your physically inferior pal was the one who asked us to escort him around, and my Saki told him just how dangerous it was."

Allowing his devoted follower to explain herself, Saku listens while staying absolutely still in Shelly’s line of fire.

Laban DaeMon: "Isn’t it a little odd how the only other times those ice aliens have done anything closely as intelligent to create dangerous situations, were caused by your boyfriend’s overpowered eye ability?"

Upon the accusation, Shelly’s nose and neck twitch. Knuckles cracking as fingernails scratch inward on her palms, holding back her retaliation.

Daisuki and Charybdis stay silent on the other side of the room, unable to persuade the two power blooded women.

Breaking their eye contact, Saku tugs Laban’s hair, pulling her head to the side, and the reprimanding captain bends to whisper in her ear.

Saku(whisper): "I know what you’re trying to do, and I appreciate you for wanting to expose Katsu’s true influence, but now is not the time."

He lets go of Laban’s dark black hair and stands straight up again. Looking at his Squad 40 Student Captain, Saku figuratively steps around the conversational landmines, and tries what Itsuka had failed at.

Saku: "I’m sorry for not protecting him better.

We got sloppy and a serious injury to someone you care about happened cuz of it.

We won’t even acknowledge requests for escort missions anymore."

Itsuka looks back and forth between her love interest, then at her best friend.

Shelly doesn’t say a word while her eyes move from the mostly sincere Saku back down to the uncaring Laban.

In the only way he can, the uneasiness of the entire room is subsided by the unwarranted noise of someone running into the other side of the locked metal door.

Katsu(muffled): "Owww..."

Hearing her purpose hurt, Shelly snaps out of her hostile mode and rushes over to open the door.

The sudden noise is also enough to wake up Scylia and then Aiden soon after.
