Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Forceful Kiss

Pei Yansi’s one hand tightly gripped her slender waist while the other firmly held the back of her head, stopping all her movements to resist and struggle.

Shen Heyu’s mind exploded.

Lu Yi was right beside her, and she felt as though she was being thrown onto a grill, her whole body uncomfortably hot.

Pei Yansi had completely lost it!

She couldn’t break free from the man’s strength, and finally, with a hardened heart, she bit down hard on the thing causing chaos in her mouth.

A sharp pain shot through, Pei Yansi slightly furrowed his brow, and as the taste of blood spread between their lips and teeth, he finally let her go.

...

The moment he released her, she quickly stepped back, putting distance between them as if he were some kind of flood beast, the rejection clear in her eyes.

He sneered, “Refusal?”

Shen Heyu coldly said, “You’re simply insane, you have no shame, but I do!”

Hearing this, Pei Yansi glanced at Lu Yi, who had walked up beside her, and scoffed, “Are you afraid others will see and find it hard to explain?”

Shen Heyu frowned tightly, feeling that it was impossible to communicate with this man.

Lu Yi stood by her side, his tall stature casting a shadow that, unlike Pei Yansi’s oppressive presence, offered a sense of stability.

Lu Yi looked at Pei Yansi and seriously said, “This kind of coercion—”

But before he could finish, Pei Yansi interrupted him with a laugh, “What do you mean by coercion, we are legally married. Doctor Lu, do you need me to personally show you our marriage certificate for you to believe that Shen Heyu and I are husband and wife?”

Lu Yi frowned and remained silent. He obviously wasn’t foolish enough to lecture Pei Yansi on the law.

However, it was improper for him to meddle in their marital affairs given his position.

Seeing his silence, Pei Yansi inwardly smirked in satisfaction, considering him sensible enough not to be foolish. He looked at Shen Heyu, half threatening, half questioning, “Are you coming back with me, or do you want to stay here?”

Successful people always speak with skill, and some words are always prominent, while others might not count for much. In his words, Shen Heyu could hear the anger clenched in his jaw in those last few words.

It seemed as if just by daring to say she wanted to stay here, he would raze this place to the ground.

But after pondering for a moment, Shen Heyu firmly said, “I will, of course, stay here.”

Pei Yansi’s gaze shifted between her and Lu Yi, noting that their proximity was even closer than hers with him, almost shoulder to shoulder. To him, their posture was particularly irritating to witness.

He was equally extremely displeased inside.

He attributed this to the inherent possessiveness in men, and said in a deep voice to Shen Heyu, “Are you sure? Have you forgotten what our relationship is, forgotten what we said when we got married?”

His simple words sent Shen Heyu into a chilling plunge.

Their marriage from the beginning was an agreement, an extremely unfair marital contract. Within their marriage, he had absolute control, especially over her, much like an ancient local tyrant, arbitrary and autocratic.

Seeing her pretty little face gradually lose its color, Pei Yansi felt his anger subside bit by bit, proving that his words still had an effect on her.

And because of this incident, Lu Yi had noticed something was amiss with their marriage.

But he never mentioned it, pretending not to notice anything, and said to Pei Yansi, “Since she said she wants to stay here, Pei Yansi, you should go back tonight.”

“It’s best if Doctor Lu does not meddle in our matrimonial affairs.”

Pei Yansi spoke faintly, his warning and reminder quite clear in his tone.

He glanced back at Shen Heyu, who interpreted his look as threatening, as overwhelming as layers of dark clouds engulfing the sky above her, suffocating her to the point of breathlessness.

Ultimately, she dared not defy him and simply said, “I can go back, but as I said, there can only be one woman in the house.”

What she couldn’t control outside didn’t matter, but inside the house was different.

Pei Yansi looked at her for two seconds, making concessions as well; he had somewhat regretted his hasty decision before leaving, and now, making concessions didn’t seem like much.

He slightly nodded at her.

Seeing this, Shen Heyu turned and went upstairs, packed her things, bid farewell to Lu Yi, and then followed Pei Yansi into the car.

The car stopped outside the villa area, Shen Heyu walking behind him, pulling her suitcase alone. He showed no intention of helping, the neon lights of the night stretching their shadows long; she quietly watched and followed him into the car.

As soon as she got into the car and had just fastened her seatbelt, she looked up, still not fully recovered, only to see Pei Yansi leaning over. His warm palm grabbed her chin, turning her face toward him, and before she could speak, he kissed her heavily.

His kiss was sudden and fierce, without a trace of tenderness.

Shen Heyu forgot to breathe for a moment, startled by his fierce kiss, nearly suffocating from it until he finally let her go.

When releasing her, he bit her lip.

Shen Heyu frowned in pain. Satisfied, he leaned back, seeing a bead of blood emerge from her thin lips. He smirked coldly and said ominously, “Punishment.”

Then he started the car and left.

Shen Heyu frowned, increasingly convinced that he was a neurotic, a man whose moods changed unpredictably, as he had always been over the years.

She didn’t want to deal with him anymore, and didn’t speak to him for the rest of the journey. The atmosphere in the car was cold enough to form ice. Finally, upon arriving at the apartment, Shen Heyu got out first, preparing to get her suitcase when Pei Yansi had already moved ahead of her, effortlessly picked up the suitcase, and walked into the apartment building.

As the door opened, Shen Heyu walked behind him, suddenly seeing him throw the suitcase and sprint inside with almost breakneck speed.

Startled, she followed inside and then saw Bai Sheng’er fallen on the floor, blood pooled fresh and red.

Pei Yansi held her in his arms, his brows tightly furrowed, his eyes filled with immense concern. “What happened?”

Hearing his voice, tears cascaded down Bai Sheng’er’s cheeks like an unstoppable river. She reached out to grab his collar, her voice soft and pitiful, “I saw you leave and was worried you would be hungry when you returned, so I wanted to make some supper, but I… I accidentally cut my hand…”

Pei Yansi’s frown deepened.

He silently looked at her for two seconds, saw the cut on her wrist, picked her up horizontally from the floor, placed her on the couch, then quickly fetched the first aid kit, and started to bandage her wound attentively and cautiously.
