Showbiz Scandal: The Official Announcement of My Ex and Myself-Chapter 320: Do You Like Me?
"What’s up?" Yu Xia asked casually after sipping her soup.
He Ci: "... Is your brain on vacation?"
Yu Xia then said "Oh oh" twice, explaining to the puzzled Xie Qingci, "It seems like someone from the ’Burning Spring’ crew said you like me just because you got too immersed in your role and can’t distinguish between character and actor."
Xie Qingci remained unfazed: "Rumors."
To them, this wasn’t a big deal since Xie Qingci hadn’t started liking her just from that drama—they both knew this well.
But others didn’t know.
Yu Xia patted him: "See what the crew says, you should clarify a bit. By the way, how’s the preparation going with the crew? If it airs early, it could attract more viewers by riding the wave of this buzz."
He Ci rolled his eyes at them: "You think? The crew released a teaser last night."
Last night...
Yu Xia showed an awkward smile: "Really? Haha, how’s it looking? Which teaser is this?"
"The one where Xie Qingci fights with the martial arts instructor, and this morning they released some behind-the-scenes footage of you sharing roasted chestnuts with everyone during rehearsal."
In the second behind-the-scenes video, several male and female leads were laughing, and Xie Qingci was peeling chestnuts while chatting with another middle-aged actor, without much interaction with Yu Xia.
The crew really had their work cut out for them, editing a video where Xie Qingci wasn’t glued to Yu Xia—considering back then in the crew, he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
"Is this the warm-up?" Yu Xia asked.
Xie Qingci replied, "It’s April now, it’ll air by the end of June at the latest."
He then fed her a spoonful of vegetables. Yu Xia originally didn’t want to display affection in front of He Ci again, but the spoon was right by her mouth and she took the bite.
Mei cheerfully said, "That’s soon then, another show to follow!"
He Ci: "Yes, and there are two more. Next month ’Different Paths’ is coming out."
’Different Paths,’ a prime-time drama featuring Yu Xia and Yu Zhi.
Mei turned to look at Xie Qingci, then quickly lowered her head to continue eating.
Yu Xia was also thinking about this drama, her first reaction was relief.
"Two dramas back-to-back, plus this variety show, there’s going to be enough exposure in the coming months."
Her second thought was about how the audience might talk about her ’romantic escapades.’
Though she considers herself very clear and upright.
She glanced at the expressionless Xie Qingci, leaning over to say, "I want more of that chicken leg meat."
Xie Qingci fed her with a spoon, and as he turned away, she kissed him lightly.
Yu Xia wore a radiant smile, and without saying anything more, kissed him twice in succession. Xie Qingci lowered his eyes and laughed, then fed her another piece of meat.
He Ci’s eyes hurt just watching.
"Sticky and mushy even while eating, as if checking who doesn’t have a boyfriend."
Mei spoke quickly, "You have one again?"
Yu Xia chimed in, "Do you really have one?"
He Ci: "..."
He’s got nothing!
After eating, they chatted a bit about work separately, and Yu Xia saw He Ci and Mei off.
At the elevator door in the hallway, He Ci whispered a reminder to her, "No plans for the next few days, consider it a vacation for you, but when the next show starts airing, I want to see you full of energy, got it?"
"...Got it."
Yu Xia went back and relayed the reminder to Xie Qingci, who listened thoughtfully, then nodded earnestly in agreement.
"Alright."
Yu Xia breathed a sigh of relief, stretching and rubbing her back, thinking she could finally have a peaceful couple of days.
But who could tell her why Xie Qingci’s words didn’t match his actions!?
She’s going to be skinned and eaten!
Starting that night, Xie Qingci embarked on his endless indulgence journey, filled with so much excitement it’s like he couldn’t get enough of being attached to her day and night.
When she questioned him for not keeping his word, he rather justified confidently—
"Being energetic for the recording day only requires sleeping enough the night before. Don’t worry, sister, I’ll leave you one day."
"..." Curse it, a man would twist his brain around like winding mountain roads just to eat well.
She didn’t know how she got through the next two or three days; first time she opened her eyes it was daytime, then night again, then again it was daytime.
The only extra activity every day was receiving feeding from Xie Qingci, then being coaxed into saying all sorts of nonsense. If she didn’t know she was healthy, she’d feel like this state wasn’t much different from being a high-level paraplegic, her life trajectory was all the same.
In between, she also thought, truly, Xie Qingci was a man of his word—really had endless energy and enthusiasm to waste on her.
Perhaps it’s understandable why older wealthy women love finding young blood.
Indulging like this for three days, finally on the fourth day, Xie Qingci seemed to quiet down a bit.
Yu Xia got to sleep peacefully until morning, half-opening her eyes to see the half-open window, the blowing wind fluttering the sheer curtains, letting her occasionally glimpse the deep blue sky, oddly-shaped clouds, and hear some bustling noise from outside.
There was no other movement in the room, she stared at the window blankly, idly wondering what Xie Qingci was doing.
Her body felt soft, she slowly struggled to get up to open the window wider.
Sitting up, she finally realized, Xie Qingci was in the room, leaning against a wall-mounted shelving unit, carefully examining something.
"Xie... cough, Xie Qingci..."
She had no strength in her voice, it was soft, fortunately, Xie Qingci heard her right away and turned to look at her.
When he turned around, the item he was looking at was revealed, it was an open blue gift box.
Seeing that box, Yu Xia’s expression paused.
Xie Qingci picked up the box and sat down by the bedside.
"I almost didn’t recognize these things," his voice gentle, "didn’t expect you kept them so well."
Yu Xia wanted to close the box, but he blocked her hand and began taking each item out.
"This shirt, I bought during sophomore year because I liked the pattern, even though it didn’t fit, I still bought it. After I met you, I started wearing it, and after you left, I realized it was gone."
He picked up the shirt, smelled it, and smiled at her: "The scent of laundry detergent, it’s from the latest bottle you opened. You’ve been washing this shirt."
Yu Xia’s ears turned a little red, grabbing the shirt and hiding it behind her.
"Aren’t clothes supposed to be washed? What’s there to make a fuss about?"
He curled his lips, picked out a hair clip from the box.
"This hair clip, like that fluffy yellow one, I bought it for you back then, thought you didn’t care for it and threw it aside."
"This postcard—back then, it was popular in school to write love letters on postcards, I wrote many with different pens, finally chose the best to give you. I remember you just glanced at it casually and left it on the desk."
He swallowed, then turned to hold the back of her neck, giving her a gentle kiss.
"Do you like me?"
