Am I dying?

My vision was blurry, seeing as Alaric said something to me but it was inaudible.

Is this what it feels like to die?

My eyes felt heavy, the pain, the ache, it was just too much that I could not contain. Tears stream from the corners of my eyes.

I wanted to see him even if it was for the last time.

My lips quivered, as a rush of hollow feeling overwhelmed me. I didn’t want to die, I didn’t want to leave him. Before I knew it darkness found me.

A Series of images played in my head. I couldn’t decipher what, but I knew it was the memories of the past. I couldn’t keep up and I couldn’t understand it.

Suddenly I gasped like I was drowning and then I opened my eyes, trying to catch my breath, before gazing upon my newfound environment, this wasn’t the glasshouse, this was somewhere else, there was nothing here, just a white background, I was the only one who stood before it, the yellow gown I wore standing out than expected.

"Where am I?", I was puzzled. Did I really die? Is this where souls go? I couldn’t tell and I couldn’t understand.

I was just left alone as several thoughts rammed into my head, what could this place be? And the horror of me dying made me panic, just the mere thought of it and leaving Nicklaus, the harsh feeling consumed me and I have never felt fear in my life before. The thought of losing him... again.

"No," I said, looking around desperately trying to find a way out. There was no way I could die like this, it wasn’t fair, it didn’t seem right, it didn’t make sense at all, fate should not be cruel to me right now, not when I have finally found happiness, not when I have obtained it, death shouldn’t do this to me.

"Hello child"

My body stilled instantly, this feeling, this power, and more this rush of familiarity from this voice I heard, could it be? I gulped not daring to turn because I didn’t want to think about it. This feeling was so intense that I couldn’t contain it. My chest rose and fell, I tried to steady myself, I tried to ignore, I tried to not turn my back and look at what was behind me.

But I couldn’t help it, I leisurely turn, very slowly and the white background cleared to a new view which was the forest I have always dreamed about, the same forest that houses my hidden memories and the same forest that kept calling me, it wasn’t until now that I realize it... my Realm, the Spirit Forest.

My golden gaze on the very person I never thought I would have the chance to see, my eyes shocking, my lips quivered, and then I knew exactly what she was and who she was to me.

"M-Mother" I stammered. My shaky eyes on the heavenly beauty before me, her silver hair was short on her shoulders, her eyes gold but a mix of blue in them like the skies, her face angelic although she looked like any mother would, her clothes golden, a linen material that hung her body perfectly, she had the curves and the style, her arms graced with golden bracelet shaped in that of a peacock.

A smile graced her lips. "How long has it been, millenniums isn’t it?"

I gulped.

"I can’t express how happy I am to finally see you after all this time, I was merely stunned when I found out you were no longer in the Mortal Realm"

I backed away slowly, my grip tightened on my gown.

"Are you scared of me child?" she asked, puzzled, noticing my actions.

As the wind whistled around us, there was a prolonged silence.

"You cursed me and my lover," I said faintly, my firm eyes on her, the angry building within me like a storm ready to blow.

"Oh my child, are we still going to do this?" she sighed. "I only did what I could for you, I love you," she said with so much sincerity that I almost believed her but I knew better.

"YOU CURSED ME!" I shouted, my breath raspy, the pain in my voice and the gravity it weighed like a ton. "You cursed your own daughter just so you could prove that duties come before love", I remembered the Mortal Realm, when I ended my curse.

’You will learn Yelena... You will learn to respect the laws of your people’ at the unknown voice in my head I shook my head, I felt dizzy all of a sudden. What was that voice and who did it belong to? The power that came from it.

’Love will destroy you, all you need is your duties, all you will ever need is a partner and not a soulmate, a partner you would perform your duties with... all you should think about is your people and your Realm’

"Sylvia" Lawrence said, holding onto me so that I wouldn’t fall, I moved my gaze to him.

’No I will not!’ this was another voice and it was stronger and braver, it sounded like mine?

"No," I said, he frowned.

’I choose love because when there is love there is hope, I choose love because I love my people and that happiness is what everyone needs... I found love and that freed me... I do not care what you think’

"I will not marry you", at my confession the clamorous thunder stroke.

Everyone gasped, and I moved away from Lawrence’s hold.

"I refuse to put duties over my own feelings"

It was like a weight was lifted off my chest like a chain was broken, and like my eyes were open to possibilities. And then Instantly time stopped around me, a pause I never thought could happen.

I could still remember how free I was when I broke from her clutches.

"Everything I have done was for you, to set an example," she said as her jaw tightened.

"No" I shook my head. I looked around. "I have to get out of here, away from you"

"Calm down child" she came to me.

"Stay away!" I barked. "What is this place, where am I?!" I demanded staring daggers at her.

She sighed. "Your Fox blood was triggered, in that very moment I called your soul here so that I can talk to you"

"Take me back, I want to go back to Nicklaus, now!"

"Magnus again?" she said sternly. "How long will you drift away from me because of that monster"

"He’s not a monster you never liked him to begin with!"

"Is that so my child, then tell me why he’s planning to invade our Realm"

I paused. "What?"

"You do not know, I thought you were his mate," she said the word mate in disdain.

"You’re lying, there’s no way Nicklaus will do such"

"Open your eyes, Yelena, that man is not what he seems, he despises me because I put him under a curse, he will do anything to have his way and you. Your fate was doomed the moment you let that man defile you!"

"Lies, all lies!" I stood my ground.

She paused. "Your memories are being blocked" she stated as her eyes narrowed. "Seems like you’re yet to know what man you claim to love" she nods her head. "Let me set you free", The moment she said those words she flicked her fingers and then I screamed when an intense pain found my head, I went on my knees screaming.

"What are you doing to me?!"

She huffed. "As if not enough that vile man has blocked your memories, he doesn’t want you to remember. Take heart child, for it is time for the holes to be filled"

I screamed to the skies holding my head, it felt like it was being cracked open, the wind around me grew intense, like a whirlpool, the grass ripped from their roots at the force.

"Such a powerful spell" I heard Mother say as she growled.

"Stop it, you’re hurting me!" I yelled as tears filled my eyes.

"I will not stop until what is taken from you is restored, I do not mind trapping you here forever, you have to remember Yelena only then can you remember the truth"

"STOP!"

"Remember my child remember"

I growled as my body ached, and then I felt power surge through me. "I said..." my eyes gleamed the brightest gold. "STOP!" I screamed as the imaginary world cracked.

I felt powerful, I felt complete and I didn’t want the pain anymore, so I let it out, I let my fox out. I stared at my mother with furious eyes, she stared at me in awe.

Despite the pain and tension at her spell, I rose to my feet, fighting back her spell.

"No my child, don’t do this!" she yelled. "You do not understand" she shakes her head as tears fill her eyes. "You do not know what you are" she took a step further. "You’re in the wrong hands"

And then I let the energy released as my head drew backward and I gave the loudest scream that shocked the entire imaginary world and my silver aura consumed everything.
