Duties

I chose love over duties and hence changed my fate, did I make the right choice? I often ask myself that particular question, there’s always doubt sometimes it’s part of what makes us human... but when I look at the things I have achieved from making that one decision that changes everything, I’m happy, for my loved ones are happy and that choice is worth anything because I get to choose, I got to free myself.

Yes... embracing... embracing all parts of me, there’s no reason to push it further, for it’s a part of me and that part cannot be taken away from me.

I flashed my eyes open, the encounter of I and Mother reminiscing in my head. My vision was blurry but when I came to, I met a dark setting, not exactly dark, it seemed like night, I could make out the forest outlines now.

I moved and then I paused, something didn’t feel right, I didn’t feel right, the last I remember, mother was trying to crack my head, she claimed she was trying to get me to remember but she was only hurting me and then something happened to me, I felt power and then...

I tried to speak but what came from my mouth was an animal sound. Wait an animal sound? I tried again, the same, it sounded like a Fox? My eyes grew wide. I forced my body up but I stood on all fours before I knew it I was dashing towards the nearest stream, thanks to the moon highlights I could see my reflection and then I was shocked because I wasn’t looking at my face but that of a Fox, silver fox, gosh I looked so beautiful in this form like a heavenly animal, I was really admiring this form? Well, it seems like it.

I noticed a blue crescent moon tattoo on my forehead. Blue? The visions I had of my past self were gold color so how come? And then I stood upright and finally saw the rest of me, my eyes shocked when I saw nine tails swamping behind me.

Dear gods I was a full-blooded wolf right now, in the flesh, was this really happening, this wasn’t a dream, was it. I whirled, panting, making more sounds. Where am I? How did I get here? My fox eyes scanned the area and when I saw the snow puddles I took a deep breath of relief knowing I was in the Vampire Realm, I felt it... I was feeling Nicklaus’ aura all over the place so this was definitely his realm.

Mate!

A voice in my head, what was that? At the mere thought of Nicklaus that voice echoed in my ear.

That was it again, who has that voice? But then I remembered, upon my Fox awakening blood, I did some studying with Mint, since he was a part shifter he knew about things, he told me about the part spiritual animal that lives within a shifter he called it the Beast just as how Nicklaus has his, it was common for all magical creatures.

So this is how it feels to have one, something powerful within me was no other than the beast, the wild part of me that was sometimes unstable, this part of myself longed for Mate. It longed for Nicklaus, this sudden pull, this invisible thread that kept yanking me to go to him and my beast was suddenly growing wild within me.

I need to find Nicklaus. My fox eyes scanned the area, and I could see the palace far away. How lost was I in this Realm? Seems like I have to start running.

I smiled as then I hopped and next I knew was speed, speed, extreme speed, was this me? running on all fours in animal form, I do not know how to explain this but this was the most wonderful feeling I have ever felt, it was extremely glorious, the wind and the snow brushing against my silver fur was the best feeling ever. I felt like I was floating and felt wild and free and I felt powerful, this was nothing compared to when I was Mortal.

I came to a sudden halt when I saw the lights up ahead, I could see the palace in the distance and yet with the guards patrolling so far away, and then the realization struck me, the security was tight, why? Because I was missing. I came forward and then I paused. Wait! I’m still in my Fox form, no one will recognize me, they will think I’m some sort of threat, the only ones who knew about this form are those within the palace and not these guys, I will be killed on the spot.

I needed to find a way to get inside that palace without being seen, and it wasn’t exactly like I knew how to shift back to human form, I have no idea how.

I know I know, my beast was seriously becoming unstable. I spotted the guards getting to where I was, and as swift as a cat I climbed the tree, going up and looking down.

gods, there were so many how was I gonna get through them without them seeing me? These were Vampires; they could spot me if I made the slightest mistake.

My eyes lingered on the palace and then the trees that lead to it. That’s it! The vampires only kept their eyes on the ground, these trees will be my way out. I smirked, alright let’s do this, I have to be quiet as wind if this were to work.

My tail wagged behind me and the I steadied myself before jumping from one tree to another, being as quiet as I could, I panted as my heart slammed loudly in my chest, I could the see the palace getting closer and closer to me, I was glad and happy that I could finally get home.

And then I tripped and fell hard on the ground while slamming against the tree branch, I bounce from the force as the broken tree drew me to the premise of the palace and then I dropped on the snow puddle, if it wasn’t for it then I would have broken more than I have already done.

"INTRUDER!"

Oh no they found out, I could hear their footsteps as they clustered around me, I was still hidden in the puddles, my heart slamming loudly in my chest.

"SHOW YOURSELF!"

I tried to move but my body was shocked in pain, I think something was broken.

"CALL FOR THE EMPEROR!"

Yes, call for him. He was the only one that could recognize me right now. Let’s hope he gets here on time before I’m butchered by his guards. That will be an awful ending.

"What’s going on?!"

Nicklaus? No that wasn’t him that was...

"We have an intruder your highness"

Alaric! Instantly poked my head out of the snow and my ears shook the snow off, at my outburst they gasped when they saw me. My fox eyes landed on Alaric who had wide eyes as he gazed upon me.

I forced the rest of my body off the snow and my tails burst out. I shocked my body to get the snow off me, but then I whimpered in pain, the pain from my fall.

"Lena?" Alaric said, still stunned.

"What is it brother, what’s with all the noise, no time to dull we have to find-" Celeste came into view, and then she paused when she saw me.

I tried to speak but Fox’s voice came off rather, gods this was harder than I thought, if only I knew how to turn back.

Mate!

My inner beast roared and then I paled, because my eyes were on Alaric right now! No... no no... no.

MATE!

My body jumped as I was drawn to him but stopped myself from doing so. This can’t be happening, this cannot be, why was my body reacting to Alaric?

"Quick call the Emperor... the Empress is back!" Celeste barked to guard, even at the mention of Nicklaus I didn’t react I was still overly drawn to Alaric.

"Lena," He said, worried as he came to me.

I shook my head, my body was screaming at me to go to him but I couldn’t. I do not want him then WHY?

STOP!

"LENA!"

I was already running away before I knew it, in speed as I zapped out of the palace, tears gushing from my eyes.
