Simplification System: From Perfect Arrow Skill to Immortal-Chapter 410 - 329: Crisis Approaches, Bloodthirsty Taotie
Hearing Sword Elder speak that way, Lin Chang’sheng instantly knew this place was absolutely unsafe—there could very well be some powerful creature lurking here.
"There’s a city up ahead. Maybe there are humans living there!"
One of the disciples suggested, immediately getting everyone’s approval—even Wine Sword Immortal nodded, deciding they’d head to the city first.
Fine rain kept falling from the sky, and they couldn’t stay out in the downpour forever; they had to find shelter.
"You go on ahead!"
Lin Chang’sheng agreed, but he wanted to inscribe a teleportation array here, just in case they might need it later.
Wine Sword Immortal nodded, then led the disciples toward the distant city at a cautious pace.
Not knowing if this place was safe, everyone moved with extra caution.
Chila—
Lin Chang’sheng began inscribing the array, golden light shimmering and dancing in his wake.
In just a short while, an array was finished.
Meanwhile, most of the disciples, following Wine Sword Immortal’s lead, had already entered the city ahead of time.
Lin Chang’sheng and Yan Zhen saw this and immediately joined them, so they could assist in case anything unexpected happened.
But not long after Lin Chang’sheng left, a four-legged, dark-green Demon Beast showed up right where he had just finished inscribing the array.
The Demon Beast sniffed the air, as if it sensed the scent of food.
Awoooo—
The Demon Beast raised its head and howled at the sky, seemingly signaling its companions.
Rumble—Rumble—
But as soon as its howl echoed out, something stirred beneath the ground—a giant creature was about to burst forth, churning earth and stone as it sped toward the Demon Beast.
The Demon Beast saw the strange movement and, terrified, tucked its tail and ran, but hadn’t gotten very far when a colossal Beast-eating Giant Insect exploded from the dirt.
This giant insect was thirty feet long; with a single bite, it ripped the howling Demon Beast to pieces, sending blood flying before burrowing back underground.
After a moment’s upheaval, silence fell again—like the place was dead.
...
"There must’ve been human beings here once!"
Arriving at the city gate, Lin Chang’sheng eyed the towering walls and thought to himself.
The walls were thirty feet high, ten feet thick, built incredibly broad and solid—clearly to fend off external threats.
Other than humans, Lin Chang’sheng couldn’t imagine any creature capable of building such structures.
But as Lin Chang’sheng and Yan Zhen entered the city, they saw a scene of complete devastation—every house inside had collapsed and rotted away, looking like they’d been abandoned for centuries.
What surprised them was that in the city center, there stood a massive temple, utterly untouched by any destruction.
Wine Sword Immortal had already led the disciples there for shelter from the rain.
Lin Chang’sheng and Yan Zhen quickly went over as well.
On the way, Lin Chang’sheng noticed that, along with the ruined houses, quite a few corpses had decayed into skeletons—proof enough that humans once lived here. Why the place was abandoned, or if everyone here had died, was a mystery he couldn’t solve.
Lin Chang’sheng felt certain this place was anything but simple; it had to be fraught with danger.
"Did you find anything?"
After joining up with Wine Sword Immortal, Lin Chang’sheng asked.
"No luck. This used to be a human city, that’s for sure, but the people must’ve all moved out,"
guessed Wine Sword Immortal.
"I don’t think they moved—I think they all died,"
Lin Chang’sheng bluntly gave his own guess.
"Dead?"
Wine Sword Immortal was surprised. If that was the case, wasn’t this place riddled with hidden threats?
"I’m pretty sure. Tell the disciples not to let their guard down. We need about three days to let the Void Divine Hall absorb enough Spiritual Energy—after that, I’ll break through the barrier here and we can head for the Immortal Realm."
Lin Chang’sheng shared his thoughts.
There was no way this place was safe—otherwise, humans wouldn’t have abandoned such a massive city, nor would the streets be lined with corpses.
"Listen up, everyone! Demon Beasts might be lurking in this place. Stay sharp and don’t split up! Three days from now, Daoist Lin will restore the Void Divine Hall’s Spiritual Energy and guide us out of here!"
Wine Sword Immortal addressed the disciples.
The disciples instantly felt relieved—they’d feared they might be trapped here forever and never make it to the Immortal Realm.
"Elder Sword Immortal, Tu Yunfei and Mu Yunfeng are missing!"
Just as Wine Sword Immortal finished speaking, Yu Lingfei spoke up.
Those two were Loose Cultivators, not used to sticking with the group. As soon as they arrived, they went off on their own.
"What? Those two idiots always cause me trouble!"
Wine Sword Immortal snapped. Loose Cultivators just couldn’t keep order, always making a mess at critical moments.
Still, seeing as they all came from this same Abandoned Land, he couldn’t just ignore them—so Wine Sword Immortal prepared to search for them using Divine Sense.
"Found them!"
But before Wine Sword Immortal could send out his Divine Sense, Lin Chang’sheng had already locked onto their position.
They were still in the city, less than a kilometer from here.
Lin Chang’sheng and Tu Yunfei actually had a bit of history.
When he attended the Immortal Ascension Conference, he’d gotten to know Tu Yunfei. Nice enough guy.
It’d be a real waste if he died here without even knowing why.
"I’ll go get them,"
Lin Chang’sheng said, then left the temple heading in the direction of Tu Yunfei and Mu Yunfeng.
Not knowing what kind of Exotic Beasts might lurk here, Lin Chang’sheng didn’t dare fly through the air—he quickly darted along the ground instead.
Off in the distance, Tu Yunfei and Mu Yunfeng had discovered a massive skeleton, and their hearts were filled with shock.
