Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon-Chapter 818 - 815: The Thirteenth Dawn (2)
Chapter 818: 815: The Thirteenth Dawn (2)
Corey could not deny the fact that he was surprised by the appearance of somebody with an illusion ability being in the team he was assigned to.
Apart from Pamela who could create illusions with ease, he had not met another individual that could use illusions, and he was extremely curious as to how skillful the captain of the Thirteenth Dawn.
’I didn’t notice the illusion at first, and that’s a plus in my book.’
’Although I wasn’t using my Eyes of Omniscience, the fact that I didn’t instantly see through the illusion when I glanced at him means he’s not that bad.’
’However... Hmm... His illusory skill is much weaker than Infinite Mirage.’
’It doesn’t have... substance.’
Corey thought without looking at the captain. He observed his appearance.
The captain had a tall and lean figure, and he was cloaked in a deep grey coat. His hair was jet-black, slicked back neatly, but a single strand fell across his sharp, silver eyes.
Corey observed the man’s eyes, and he instantly knew that the man’s eyes were unique.
He had no idea what they could do, but he knew that the captain of the Thirteenth Dawn possessed an ocular ability or ocular abilities.
A thin scar could also be seen under his left eye, and the man’s face always held a quiet, unreadable calm, the kind that made others uneasy when they looked too long.
Strapped to his back were twin sabers with crescent-shaped hilts, and around his gloved fingers were three metallic rings etched with formations.
Corey studied the metallic rings for a second longer with his gaze flicking between each faintly glowing rune inscribed into the surface.
He could see the formations inscribed in each ring, and even before he fully analyzed the formations, he knew their functions.
’I’ve seen more complicated formations, so these are pretty simple.’
Before he could further analyze them, the man finally opened his mouth, but the source of the voice was not from the illusion that was sitting, but from the man himself who was standing.
"You’re earlier than I expected."
His voice was deep and level, with an edge of something harder. His demeanor and the voice of the captain suddenly reminded Corey of soldiers.
Corey responded without moving from his spot, "I woke up early?"
His voice which contained visible sarcasm drifted into the ears of everybody, and this led to everybody raising their brows.
Not only because of the sarcasm in his voice, but also because of Corey’s lack of surprise.
"You were able to see through the captain’s illusion?"
The silver-haired man lounging on the crate asked with visible surprise in his expression and tone as his gaze flickered from Corey to the captain.
Corey glanced at him, and then his gaze followed that of the silver-haired man.
He looked in the direction of the captain whose expression was still one of calmness, however, Corey could see the surprise, confusion, and suspicion in the eyes of the captain.
Corey remained quiet for a second.
"I couldn’t see through his illusion. But... I’m very perceptive."
The expressions of the group varied, and most had intrigued expressions when they heard his words.
The illusion of the captain on the chair slowly dissipated, and the true figure of the captain came into Corey’s view.
The captain’s expression was unreadable as still leaned against the wall with his arms crossed.
He stared at Corey with the same stoic and unreadable expression for a few seconds, and then he spoke.
"You said you ’couldn’t’ see through my illusion which means that you knew that it was an illusion, but didn’t have the power to see through it... Am I right?"
The entire training arena became silent, and Corey could not help but inwardly praise the captain for noticing such minor details in his words.
Although he had not carefully chosen his words since it didn’t really matter to him, it was a little bit surprising to him that the captain took note of his choice of words.
’Hmm... I can give so many excuses, reasons, and responses to his question, but what should I say?’
The corner of Corey’s lips curled up slightly as he looked at the captain with an intrigued expression.
Everybody instantly frowned when they saw Corey’s smile, because it looked like Corey was looking down on their captain and was seeing him as a source of amusement.
Through soul perception, Corey had a general feeling of the emotions of everybody in the room, but he didn’t care.
His slight smile receded, and with an indifferent expression, he spoke.
"My ears are very sensitive to sound. Your breathing and heartbeat were absent in your illusion."
’There’s a lot more, but you don’t need to know them at the moment with your current ability.’
As Corey had these thoughts, the captain’s eyes flashed with a pondering light, and Corey could also see the light of realization appearing in his eyes as he pondered on his words.
"Are you kidding me? You’re able to hear something as faint as a person’s heartbeat and breathing? Are you a bat or something?"
The silver-haired man asked with disbelief in his words, and Corey glanced at him.
The silver-haired man mumbled.
"You have sharp hearing and also an absurd level of control. Are you sure you’re a human?"
Corey tilted his head slightly, "Don’t I look like one?"
The silver-haired man scoffed while rolling his eyes and changing his position on the crate.
"I was being sarcastic."
"So was I."
The silver-haired man’s lips twitched, and he looked at Corey with a dangerous smile.
"I think you have a thing for pissing off people."
Corey raised a brow, "Maybe it’s just you that has anger issues."
A dangerous silence engulfed the arena, and a "tch" echoed, disrupting the growing tension between Corey and the silver-haired man.
Corey looked at the woman in the blood-red overcoat.
"Zeke. I know that you’re happy that we have another talented Tier 3 apart from you in the group, but have you forgotten that we have a mission?"
