Chapter 517: Chapter 517: Final Dungeon - Second Floor (Part 10)

I stumbled slightly as the entire area shook and rumbled violently, Ciel’s explosion swirling around intensely and maintaining its shape instead of expanding and spreading out.

I see, she’s controlling and concentrating it to keep it contained, she’s trying to keep it from reaching Rex’s head.

The rumbling began to settle as the explosion petered out and died down, the dark red energy fading away, before Ciel collapsed onto her knees. Beads of sweat were pouring down her face, her entire body trembling.

Her blade of explosive energy dissipated, the handle receding back into her bracelet, right as the barrier disappeared and the ring of pillars shrunk back down.

Aria and I rushed over towards her immediately, the others close behind. We quietly helped her back up onto her feet as we knelt down on either side of her, neither of us sure what to say.

"Hey, um, how are-...?" Aria began solemnly.

"Could...could one of you preserve Rex’s head in your Treasury thing, please? I...I’d like to give him a proper burial after...after this is all over," She spoke quietly.

"Yeah, of course," I nodded, before Aria let Ciel lean on her shoulder as I slowly let go and made my way towards where she’d set down Rex’s head.

I felt a pang in my chest as I stared down at his head, the haunting dullness of his eyes and the ghostly pale shade of his skin.

I opened an empty slot in Treasury and carefully picked his head up, setting it inside the slot, before closing the slot and preserving it.

Damn it, this...this isn’t how it was supposed to go.

I knew, I knew there was every chance that I’d end up seeing some of my friends for the last time in this raid, but...even so, I wasn’t ready for this.

I...I can’t believe he’s gone. I-...

No, I need to...I need to keep my head clear, I can’t let my emotions take over, not yet. Until this raid ends, I have to hold it in.

"We should be getting teleported to the next floor any second now," Remarked Aarav quietly, as Aria comforted Ciel, along with Superbia.

"Yeah...oh, I’ll grab the Personalis Arma, it’d be a waste to leave it here," Added Jaden, as he jogged over to the weapon.

Huh?

"No, wait!" I exclaimed, sprinting towards him at full speed as he picked it up and began to glance back at me, before letting out a sharp gasp as his face tensed up in agony.

Blood began streaming out of his eyes, nostrils and mouth, violent spasms erupting across his skin, right as I closed in and leapt forward, grabbing his arm.

Ai!

A burst of energy erupted out of the rod, before it began to change shape rapidly.

It wrapped around his waist, forming a white belt with a pair of narrow, whip-like tails extending out of the back of the belt, before a display popped up in front of me:

Name: [ ]

[+25% Boost to All Stats While Equipped]

[+15% Boost to All Spells While Equipped]

[Unlimited Extend]

[Sharpen]

<Please Designate a Name for Your New Weapon>

That...that was way too close.

Jaden let out a dazed sputter, his eyelids fluttering as his eyes began to roll back.

"Brid, healing, quickly!" I called out urgently.

"Got it, GM!" He responded, hurrying over and healing Jaden, a glimmer of lucidity returning to his eyes as his expression eased.

Touching a Personalis Arma is the same as trying to establish a link with it, so it’s dangerous to pick up one of these weapons...unless you’re already linked to one.

An individual can only wield one Personalis Arma, so if they pick up a second one, nothing happens. Which means, only me, Aria, Cleo, and now Ciel, can touch a Personalis Arma safely.

The others were informed of this, so Jaden should’ve already known not to do it. I guess he must have forgotten.

"Wha...? What happened?" He groaned, looking around in bemusement as Brid finished healing him.

"You picked up the Personalis Arma and almost died," Aria informed him with a huff.

"Huh? Oh...ohh, that’s right, we aren’t supposed to touch those unless we already have one. Sorry," He responded sheepishly.

"That was really close, if I had reached you even a couple of seconds later, it would’ve been too late. The weapon would have fried your brain and reduced you to a vegetable," I remarked with a sigh, before adding, "Alright, hurry up and name it so that I can let go of you."

Oh, looks like we were teleported to the next floor, I didn’t even notice. Looks like a forest-type terrain, there are a lot of trees around.

"Alright...what does it do?" He asked me, as he glanced down at the belt curiously.

"It boosts you physically by twenty-five percent, boosts your Magic by fifteen percent, and if I’m not mistaken, you can sharpen it and extend it indefinitely."

"Oh, that sounds pretty cool. How do I use it, though?" He responded uncertainly.

"No clue, but you can figure it out after you name it," I replied, as the others gathered around.

"Hm...ohh, I got it, Tailekinesis! Like, telekinesis but the first syllable replaced by the word tail. No, wait, that doesn’t sound like a proper name. Uhh...oh, how about Tailekinect? Yeah, that sounds good," He decided after mulling it over.

"Sure, whatever works," I nodded, letting go of him before adding as I glanced at the others, "Alright, we’re about a quarter of the way through this Dungeon now, but before we proceed, we need to discuss what went down in the previous floor. We can’t keep proceeding with the same tactics."
