Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 107: I’m Not Having Children
Fearing Ethan Yardley would think she was just putting on an act, Sylvia Schuyler slashed her own neck with the fruit knife.
Fresh blood oozed from the sharp blade, a shockingly vivid red.
Ethan Yardley immediately raised a hand and cried out,
"Sylvia, calm down. Can we go outside and talk?"
’If Serena comes back and sees this, she’ll be terrified.’
’No matter how he ended up dealing with Sylvia, he had to get her away from here first.’
"No! Promise me you’ll let me stay first. Only then will I go with you."
"Alright. You want to work by my side, don’t you? I’ll promise you. I’ll let you join my secretarial department, okay?"
He reached out, trying to take the knife from her hand.
Sylvia had never intended to actually hurt herself, so when she saw the man approach, she didn’t resist and simply let him take the knife.
Ethan quickly grabbed a tissue and pressed it against her neck, pulling her along as he said,
"Let’s go. We need to go to the hospital and get that wound treated first."
"You can’t go back on your promise, then," Sylvia continued to cry.
"Alright."
To get her to leave, Ethan had no choice but to agree to everything.
Before leaving with Sylvia Schuyler, he shot a cold glance at Vivian Lynch, who was standing not far away, and warned,
"Act like you saw nothing. Don’t say anything you’re not supposed to."
Vivian Lynch quickly nodded. "Yes, Mr. Yardley."
Watching Mr. Yardley leave with that woman, Vivian Lynch let out a long breath.
’So Mr. Yardley is having an affair?’
’And his mistress even showed up at the house?’
’She knew it. Other than being pretty like a decorative vase, Serena Yardley is useless. How could she possibly hold on to a man as high and mighty and exceptional as Mr. Yardley?’
’Maybe if she put in a little effort, Mr. Yardley might even take an interest in her.’
...
It was ten o’clock at night when Serena Yardley returned.
She had waited until Mr. Grant arrived home before leaving.
As she was leaving, she heard Nina and Mr. Grant arguing again, but it wasn’t her place to stay, so she could only come back for now.
After coming inside and changing her shoes, she saw only Vivian Lynch sitting in the living room.
Serena Yardley walked over and asked, "Where’s your mother?"
Vivian Lynch stood up quickly. "My mother has been hospitalized recently, so she probably won’t be coming in for a while. Miss Serena, have you had dinner?"
"I’ve already eaten."
She headed upstairs.
She planned on finding Ethan Yardley to ask about Mr. Grant, but when she searched all over the second floor, she couldn’t find him.
Returning to her room, she sat at her desk, took out her phone, and called Ethan Yardley.
The moment the call connected, Serena Yardley asked glumly, 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Where did you go?"
Ethan Yardley’s voice was gentle on the other end of the line.
"Serena, you’re home. I’m at the main family estate for some business. I’ll be back right away."
Serena Yardley pouted and said listlessly,
"Hurry back, then. I have something I need to talk to you about."
"Alright. I’ll be there in half an hour, I promise."
After hanging up, Serena Yardley rested her head on her desk, staring blankly out the window into the dark night.
She couldn’t understand it. Why would the Grant Family hide Nina’s child and refuse to let her see him?
After all, Nina was already a daughter-in-law of the Grant Family.
’Could it be that the Grant Family only wanted Nina’s child?’
She recalled what Sylvia Schuyler had said to her before.
Serena Yardley started to wonder again: ’Ethan Yardley is so good to me now, but will he, in the end, just want me to bear his child?’
’And after she had the child, how would he treat her then?’
For some reason, she suddenly felt deeply unsettled and insecure.
Perhaps because she hadn’t taken an afternoon nap, Serena Yardley fell asleep at her desk without even realizing it.
By the time Ethan Yardley hurried back, it was already eleven o’clock.
Entering the room, he saw Serena asleep at her desk. He walked over quietly, carried her to their large bed, and personally took off her shoes and outer clothes.
However, his movements still woke Serena Yardley.
Opening her eyes to see that Ethan Yardley was back, she called out drowsily,
"Ethan..."
Ethan Yardley furrowed his brow and looked up at her. "I’m here. Are you awake?"
"Mhm. Can you hold me for a bit?"
She opened her arms wide.
Seeing her actions and hearing the tone she used to call his name, Ethan Yardley inexplicably felt that the sweet, affectionate girl he knew was back.
He sat down, leaned over to embrace her, and patted her back, coaxing her gently.
"I’m holding you. Go back to sleep, Serena."
"I’m suddenly feeling a little sad."
Serena Yardley nestled against his shoulder, her voice soft.
"What’s wrong? Does something hurt?"
Ethan Yardley lowered his head to look at her.
Serena’s furrowed brow and pitiful expression were heart-wrenching.
Serena Yardley burrowed into his neck. "Ethan, if I don’t have children, will you always be this good to me?"
Ethan Yardley’s expression changed slightly.
But he didn’t hesitate, his tone resolute. "Yes. I will always be good to you, Serena."
"But if I don’t give you any children, will your family blame me?"
"As long as I’m here, no one will dare to blame you."
"Mmm~"
Serena Yardley tightened her arms around him and added,
"Did you know? Mr. Grant’s parents aren’t letting Nina see her child. They’ve hidden him away."
Ethan Yardley was stunned. "Why?"
Serena Yardley pulled away from his embrace, looked up at him, and asked in return,
"I was going to ask you that. Mr. Grant is your friend. You mean you don’t know the reason either?"
Ethan Yardley was at a loss for words.
