Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 152: Ethan Yardley and Quinn Gardner Came Too
That evening, Serena Yardley called Ethan Yardley again.
She told him about the camping trip with a few of her classmates that weekend. To her surprise, Ethan Yardley gave her his permission, saying it would be good for her to get out and relax.
He also reminded her to be safe and to send him her location once she arrived.
The thought of the camping trip made Serena realize she definitely wouldn’t see Ethan Yardley this weekend, and she couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.
On Friday afternoon, she and Kylie Cross were in a supermarket buying camping gear and food when she suddenly got a call from Nina Thorne.
On the phone, Nina Thorne said, "Serena, it’s the weekend again. Ethan Yardley is away on business, so I’m coming to pick you up."
Serena told Kylie Cross to keep picking things out, then said apologetically into her phone:
"Nina, I forgot to tell you, I’m not coming home this weekend. A few of my classmates organized a camping trip."
"Oh? What a coincidence."
"What do you mean?" Serena asked, confused.
Nina Thorne laughed.
"I just dropped Leo off with my parents for a couple of days, and I was planning to take you out for some fresh air this weekend.
I checked the weather forecast, and it’s supposed to be beautiful this weekend. I was going to take you to see the most gorgeous sunrise and sunset.
So, since you’re also going camping with your classmates, why don’t you ask them if guests are allowed? We could all go together."
Serena, "..."
’Nina wants to come with us?’
’But Cynthia Meyer is going to be there!’
She hesitated.
Nina Thorne sounded a bit hurt. "Serena, you don’t want me to come? Sigh... Are you worried I’ll cramp your style because I’m older than you guys?"
’I’m not that much older than them, am I? It’s not like I’ll embarrass her by going.’
"That’s not it."
Serena quickly explained, "Do you remember Clementine’s aunt? She’s coming too. But Nina, I don’t get along with her, so if you came... would it be awkward?"
Nina Thorne fell silent.
After a moment, she laughed. "Why would it be awkward? You think I’m going to care that she’s there?"
Serena breathed a sigh of relief. "Well, if you don’t think it’ll be a problem, Nina, you should definitely come with us. We’re meeting at the school gate?"
"Sounds good. I’ll be driving."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Serena hurried to catch up with Kylie Cross, and they pushed their cart to the checkout.
Carrying several bags, the two of them hurried to the school gate where Nina Thorne got out of her car and opened the trunk for them.
"And to think you didn’t want me to come. If I hadn’t, were you two just going to take a cab?"
Serena laughed. "I never said you couldn’t come."
She introduced Nina to the friend beside her. "Kylie, this is my sister, Nina Thorne."
Kylie Cross greeted her politely. "It’s nice to meet you."
After the greeting, she leaned close to Serena and whispered, "Your sister is gorgeous."
Serena said with a touch of pride, "She has a brother, too, and he’s also really handsome."
At this, Kylie Cross’s eyes lit up. "Is he single?"
"Of course."
Before Kylie Cross could say anything more, Nina, having finished loading the trunk, walked over and asked:
"Is it just the two of you? Where is everyone else?"
Kylie Cross immediately answered, "The others are riding in Rhonda’s boyfriend’s car. If you hadn’t come, we would’ve had to squeeze in with them."
"So my timing was perfect!"
Nina asked, "So, should we wait for them, or should we head out first?"
"Let’s head out first. They can come after us. I know the address."
"Alright."
The three of them got in the car. Nina Thorne keyed the address into the GPS and drove straight to their destination.
The three of them talked and laughed the whole way. The two- or three-hour drive flew by as they chatted.
They reached the mountaintop campsite just in time to see the sunset. The vast sky was filled with blood-red clouds, a breathtakingly beautiful and magnificent sight.
Serena quickly pulled out her camera to take photos.
After taking pictures, the three of them started pitching their tents. Before long, Cynthia Meyer, Azure, Rhonda, and her boyfriend arrived as well.
As she was getting out of the car, Cynthia Meyer immediately spotted Nina Thorne in the distance, dressed in a simple yet sharp outfit.
At first, she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her, but on closer inspection, she confirmed it was indeed Quinn’s cold-blooded, ruthless wife. A wave of jealousy and hatred instantly washed over her.
’So that woman came here with Serena Yardley?’
’A married woman like her, hanging out with a bunch of college kids. Has she no shame?’
Pretending not to recognize her, Cynthia Meyer went to get her things from the trunk.
Serena saw Cynthia Meyer too. She leaned close to Nina Thorne and muttered:
"Let’s just stick to ourselves and pretend we don’t know her."
Nina Thorne smiled and patted Serena’s head. "Don’t worry about it. I never waste my time on people who don’t matter."
"Mhm."
Once the tent was pitched, Serena crawled inside to spread out the sleeping mats.
When she finished, she lay down to rest for a moment before calling out to Nina Thorne outside:
"Nina, we’re sleeping in here together tonight, okay?"
"Okay."
Nina Thorne secured the last tent pole, then knelt at the tent’s entrance and asked Serena, "What do you feel like eating? I’ll go get it ready."
"We just bought some instant food. We can make do with that," Serena said, sitting up.
Nina waved a hand dismissively. "No. A stunning, romantic night like this deserves hot pot."
The moment she heard "hot pot," Serena scrambled out of the tent with a huge grin. "You brought hot pot?"
"I did. Come on, let’s get it from the trunk."
"Okay!"
While they were getting the hot pot ready, Serena introduced Nina Thorne to her classmates.
Everyone was very polite and welcoming when they learned she was Serena’s sister—everyone except Cynthia Meyer.
They all pitched in, spreading mats on the grass, prepping the ingredients, stringing up lights, and building a bonfire.
As night fell, dinner was ready. The seven of them sat in a circle, poured some wine and other drinks, and raised their glasses to drink.
Just as the group was in the middle of a lively chat, enjoying the beautiful, romantic night and what felt like the most delicious meal on earth, the headlights of two cars in the distance cut through the darkness, aimed directly at them.
The light from the cars was blinding. They all raised their hands to shield their eyes, unable to make out what was happening.
As the eldest of the group, Nina Thorne took charge. She stood up and said, "You all keep eating. I’ll go see what’s going on."
Worried she might be in danger, Serena quickly put down her bowl and chopsticks to get up. "I’ll go with you."
"Okay."
Using their phones as flashlights, the two of them walked toward the distant cars.
As they drew closer to the two cars and could finally make out the people getting out, both Serena Yardley and Nina Thorne stopped in their tracks.
Of course, some were happy while others were dismayed.
The happy one was Serena. She hadn’t expected Ethan Yardley to show up.
She happily hurried toward him, an irrepressible smile on her face.
"What are you doing here?"
Serena was genuinely surprised.
Ethan Yardley stood before her, tall and straight. "I was worried about your safety, so I came to check on you. And to relax a little, too."
"Aren’t you worried they’ll notice something?"
After all, the man was famous at her school—a visiting professor, no less. There wasn’t a single student or teacher on campus who didn’t know him.
Ethan reached out and ruffled Serena’s hair. "We’ll just say it’s a coincidence. As long as we’re not too affectionate in front of them, no one should suspect a thing."
"That’s true."
But then she saw Quinn Gardner walking up beside him, and the smile on her face froze.
She muttered, "Why did you bring him?"
