Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 20: Hugging Sylvia Schuyler in Front of Her
To think someone would dare cause trouble for one of his people in broad daylight.
They must have a death wish.
Without asking any more questions, Ethan Yardley looked toward the office door. "Someone."
Mr. Young immediately pushed the door open and came in, nodding. "President."
"Investigate what happened to Serena when she went out today. Give me the results by tonight."
As Mr. Young nodded and prepared to leave, Serena Yardley quickly said:
"It was at Enchantment Karaoke. If you really can’t find anything, you can ask my roommate, Azure. But don’t reveal my identity to her. Just tell her you’re the police; she should cooperate then."
Mr. Young understood. He quietly closed the door and left.
Serena Yardley looked away and snuggled back into the man’s arms, her hands clinging to his neck.
Ethan Yardley reminded her, "Don’t make wild guesses without proof."
"Huh?"
Serena Yardley sat up straight and looked at the man before her, frowning. "Uncle, do you think I’m wrongly accusing Sylvia Schuyler?"
Ethan Yardley’s expression wasn’t pleasant. "Everything requires evidence."
"But I haven’t offended anyone else, so who would want to harm me? You have no idea how many times Sylvia Schuyler has warned me. She even offered me ten million to leave you."
Ethan Yardley looked at the woman in front of him. Seeing her small face scrunched up and her aggrieved expression, he decided not to argue with her any further.
He pressed her head into the crook of his neck with one hand and picked up his pen with the other, continuing to sign documents.
"I will get to the bottom of this. If it really is related to her, I will see that justice is done for you."
"Mhm."
Serena Yardley nodded, then wrapped her arms around his neck again, wanting to fall asleep on him.
Ethan Yardley didn’t push her away.
He certainly didn’t feel that holding her made it difficult to work.
After all, he had often worked just like this, holding her in his study. It wasn’t a problem.
Just then, his secretary walked in with steaming hot coffee.
Seeing the scene before her, she froze.
’Their cold, aloof, untouchable President was actually holding a woman in his lap and still working as if nothing was out of the ordinary?’
’So who was this woman?’
’The President’s wife?’
’No, no, no, their President is still single. Where would a wife come from?’
’His sister?’
The secretary could only come to that conclusion. After all, what woman out there had the ability to make their President hold her?
"What are you staring at? Do you want to be fired?"
Seeing the secretary standing at the door with the coffee like an idiot, Ethan Yardley snapped harshly.
Snapping out of it, the secretary hurried forward with the coffee. "My apologies, President. Here is your coffee and... this... y-young lady’s."
After setting down the coffee, the secretary timidly scurried away.
Serena Yardley saw how obviously scared the secretary was of him. She glanced at the man beside her, at his handsome face with its sharp, chiseled features, and said in a low voice:
"Uncle, you’re so fierce. You scared that poor young lady."
Ethan Yardley turned to look at the person on his shoulder, his expression blank. "Do you want me to throw you out the window?"
"No."
She quickly tightened her grip on his neck, clinging to him.
"If you don’t, then behave yourself. Stop squirming."
’Every time she sat on his lap, she was so restless, rubbing against him until he felt a stir of unease throughout his body.’
"Ohhh~"
Serena Yardley replied petulantly and quickly settled into his arms, not moving anymore.
’But Uncle was so charismatic when he worked. She loved it.’
Gently closing her eyes, she greedily savored the warmth and security in his arms and soon fell asleep.
By the time Ethan Yardley finished his work, Serena Yardley still hadn’t woken up.
He took his jacket, wrapped it around her small frame, and carried her out of the company.
Many employees watched them along the way, but no one dared to gossip about the woman’s identity.
When Serena Yardley woke up, they were almost home.
Finding herself still in his arms, she yawned. Seeing that she was in the car, she finally asked, "Uncle, are we home yet?"
"Mhm."
"I need to use the bathroom."
She sat up, saw their villa right in front of them, and laughed happily. "What a coincidence, we’re here already."
After getting out of the car, Serena Yardley rushed toward the house. She couldn’t wait.
Ethan Yardley followed behind at a leisurely pace.
Perhaps because Serena Yardley had burst into the villa so suddenly, Sylvia Schuyler, who was looking at her phone, didn’t have time to put it away before Serena saw her.
When Sylvia Schuyler realized, she hastily put her phone away and pretended to fumble for her cane.
Serena Yardley averted her gaze and thought as she walked toward the restroom, ’Isn’t Sylvia Schuyler blind? What was that just now, looking down at her phone?’
’Could it be that she’s just pretending to be blind?’
’Pretending or not, I’ll find out if I test her.’
Sylvia Schuyler saw Ethan Yardley follow her in and quickly stood up with her cane, calling out, "Ethan, are you home from work?"
"Mhm."
Ethan Yardley walked over to Sylvia Schuyler and sat down beside her. "How are you feeling today? Is your leg any better?"
"Yes, I’ve been exercising it all day. It’s much better."
"And your eyes? Can you see anything?"
Sylvia Schuyler quickly shook her head. "Still nothing. It’s just pitch-black everywhere."
She fumbled, trying to get closer to Ethan Yardley.
Seeing that she was about to fall again, Ethan Yardley quickly reached out to support her.
"It’s okay, take it slow. I’ll have the doctor come by for regular check-ups. You’ll get better."
"Mhm. Ethan, I’m still scared."
Sylvia Schuyler deliberately leaned into his arms and asked in a delicate, coquettish voice:
"What if I’m blind for the rest of my life?"
Ethan Yardley didn’t push her away. He held her and said gently:
"Even if you’re blind for the rest of your life, you’ll still have me. I’ll take care of you forever."
...
When Serena Yardley came out of the restroom, she saw with her own eyes Ethan Yardley holding Sylvia Schuyler on the living room sofa.
She even heard with her own ears his promise to take care of Sylvia Schuyler forever.
She froze on the spot, a sour feeling welling up in her heart again.
But then she remembered that he was only compensating for the harm he had caused Sylvia Schuyler, so she didn’t dare make a scene and could only bottle everything up inside.
She walked toward them.
Even though Ethan Yardley saw Serena Yardley approaching, he made no move to push the woman in his arms away.
Sylvia Schuyler leaned against him. Catching sight of Serena Yardley’s unhappy face out of the corner of her eye, she felt extremely smug.
Then, she deliberately raised a hand to touch Ethan Yardley.
"Ethan, ever since I went blind, for some reason I’ve forgotten what you look like. Can you let me touch your face?"
Ethan Yardley sat there without moving, letting Sylvia Schuyler raise her hands and run them all over his face.
Watching from the side, Serena Yardley gritted her teeth, wishing she could tear the two of them apart.
She clenched her fists, then suddenly stood up and looked at her uncle, her eyes full of resentment.
She shot him a look, telling him to push the woman off him.
Ethan Yardley looked back at her, but he still didn’t react, as if he had no intention of pushing Sylvia Schuyler away at all.
Serena Yardley was furious. She couldn’t stand to watch another woman climb all over her uncle any longer.
She was angry now. She turned and stormed upstairs.
Ethan Yardley didn’t go after her.
Knowing that Serena Yardley had left and that Ethan Yardley still hadn’t pushed her away, Sylvia Schuyler grew bolder. Puckering her red lips, she moved in to kiss his face.
