Sleeping With The CEO-Chapter 369: Wonderful, Wonderful Sleep
Chapter 369: Wonderful, Wonderful Sleep
Secrets.
When it came to secrets that he was willing to take to the grave, Derek thought that he was done with all of that. He had been willing to die without ever telling a single soul about his insomnia.
When the truth had finally come out, Derek had felt as though a huge weight had been removed from his shoulders and he had made a promise to himself to never ever go back to that. But now it seemed that he would have no choice.
Unlike the insomnia secret, that had had him feeling as though he were weighed down. This new secret had butterflies swimming around in Derek’s stomach, his heart threatening to burst with joy. Before he knew it, his shoulders were shaking and he was laughing.
A proper laugh that had him wiping tears from his eyes when he finally stopped, his sides hurting.
"Mind sharing with the rest of the class," Emily’s voice was full of warmth, clearly she was feeling as content as Derek was. When he had begun laughing, she had been laying next to him on the carpet, her hand in the air as she looked at the ring.
Wiggling her fingers and smiling up at the piece of jewelry. Running her hand over her naked torso Derek pulled her close. Making her giggle, as he peppered the side of her neck with kisses. The two of them were still satisfied after their enthusiastic lovemaking, but Derek could definitely sense another round or two in the near future.
"I just realized that the two of us are going to be the only people who know exactly how I propose to you, and your reaction to it," She raised her head, her brow furrowed in confusion.
"Derek, why on earth would we lie about how we got engaged. Sure it did not have all of the usual fancy stuff that came with engagements but..." He smacked lightly at her bare bottom, and Emily’s eyes widened, her head shooting up as she looked down at their naked bodies. The sheet around their waist did not cover much. Mouth open in a perfect O, she looked up at Derek and he couldn’t help but laugh again.
"Now do you get you get it. Or will you be the one to tell your mother that you ravished me like a wild beast as soon as I asked you to marry me?" She let out an indignant huff, her face heating as she pouted at him, the whole thing looking cuter than it had any right to be.
"As I recall, I was not the only one who was very enthusiastic. I would say that we devoured each other instead of it being a one-sided thing,"
Derek nodded, he was as much to blame for their engagement story needing to be heavily edited as she was.
"In that you are right, but admit it I am also right. This is not the story that we will be telling our mothers,"
Settling back down, Emily placed a hand against his chest.
The feel of the cool metal of the ring making Derek smile. He could get used to this, and he would love it even more once the ring was no longer just an engagement one.
"What secret, Derek? There will be no secret. I came home and found that you had set up the roof. Flower petals everywhere, candles floating in the water, and there you were already waiting for me. Down on one knee and the ring in your hand. I said yes, you got up, we kissed and then we had the delicious dinner that you’d had prepared beforehand. Simple,"
Derek had to laugh at her matter of fact voice.
"You know, now that you mention it, I recall things happening exactly like that. Everything was very family friendly,"
"Of course it was. You and I are very proper people. We never do anything wild,"
The fact that they were currently naked in the living room, their clothes tossed all over the furniture.
Their hair a mess, their skin covered in scratches and love bites, said her statement was a big, fat lie. But to anyone other than the two of them, it would be nothing but the honest truth.
Too tired to cook, and not feeling bothered enough to pick up the phone and order. Their celebration dinner, ended up being the muffins that Emily had bought.
The two of them finishing the remaining ones, and making their way upstairs to shower and get ready for bed.
Laying in bed next to her, Derek could not help but think back at all of the things that they had been through.
And no matter how difficult it had all been, because it had led to him finally having someone that he loved as much as he loved Emily. Derek felt that all of the trials and tribulations had been worth it.
After all of the years that he had suffered, things were finally looking up for him. And he had a feeling that with Emily by his side, it could only get better from there on out.
"I love you, Emily Molson," He whispered. Next to him, she moved around a bit, getting comfortable. The coolness of her engagement ring making his heart flutter as she settled her hand over his chest.
"I love you too, Derek Haven,"
Feeling the now familiar pull of sleep, Derek could not help a drowsy smile.
A little while ago he had not even been able to remember what that felt like, but now it had gotten to the point where it was familiar. All thanks to his beloved Emily.
"Good night, Emily,"

The two of them fell asleep like that. Sleep. Wonderful...wonderful sleep.
But while Derek and Emily joined the majority of the world in slumber. There was one person who had lost the ability. In a prison cell shared with four other men, Sebastian Haven lay awake, something that had become a norm for him as the months had passed. He prayed for sleep, but also wished that it would not come. For on the rare nights that it did. It brought nothing but nightmares with it, Jasper reaching for him from the other side, always trying to drag him down.
From a man who’d had everything to a man with nothing. His body imprisoned, and his mind denied the freedom of sleep.
Sleep, wonderful...wonderful sleep. Oh, how he missed it.
