The atmosphere was tense.
The power that this little fox and the slime on her back displayed was very shocking, especially considering that it was a Slime!
In fact, their power was much weaker than that of the two elves or the humans they defeated, but the usefulness of their attacks, the surprise effect, and the ambush they formed were what determined the victory.
In a battle, it is not always the most powerful who wins. As long as the opponent has enough power to break through the enemy’s defenses, any opportunity can be fatal.
And that’s what happened here.
Because of the high density of Mana in the human mage’s body, Lohan’s digestion speed was much slower than when digesting anything else he had tried so far, only slightly inferior to the Level 11 Weaver Spider Mana Stone.
If it depended solely on his digestion, Lohan would not have been very useful in this battle, but his goal here was only to use the clone to interrupt the spell the mage was casting, so the fact that he was extremely fragile to pain was a very pleasant surprise.
When dealing with the female assassin, Lohan only needed to pin her to the ground, and it was the Elf with the sword who finished her off.
Lisa’s battle, although it seemed more dominant and destructive, also took advantage of the fact that the enemy archer was unaware of her and had no spiritual protection, otherwise the battle could have been different.
So under the gaze of the two elves, clearly more powerful than them, Lisa and Lohan became slightly tense, until Lisa opened a telepathic communication channel with the adult elves and spoke cautiously.
"Don’t worry, we have no ill intentions," she said in a calm voice, her eyes narrowed at the arrow pointed at her.
Realizing that the fox could communicate, the elves’ eyes widened, and with Lisa’s gaze on the bow, the female elf took the hint and lowered her bow slightly.
The first to speak was the elf swordsman. "Thank you very much for your help. If it weren’t for you, we don’t even know what could have happened to us."
Looking at him closely, it was possible to see that the clothes he wore were not made for combat, but were simply beautiful, luxurious fabric torn in different places.
Not only his, but the clothes of the entire group were very luxurious and clearly not made for this purpose.
The silence that followed was filled only by the sounds of the forest.
The tension did not disappear, but it changed form. It ceased to be a threat of death and became a mutual and suspicious curiosity.
This silence was broken by a curious voice. "What a beautiful little fox!"
The little elf girl, with long white hair and a beautiful green princess dress that mixed shiny fabric with colorful leaves, looked at Lisa with bright eyes and walked towards her.
Seeing his sister walk up to the fox, the little boy also looked curiously at the newcomers, but his gaze fixed on the Slime, which at some point ceased to be a dull green (because it was camouflaged with its surroundings) and became a beautiful bright blue.
Having never seen a Slime in person, he also began to walk toward the ’monsters,’ only to be held back by the swordsman, with his sister being held back by the archer.
Keeping her hand close to her bow, she looked at Lohan, who still looked like a harmless gelatinous mass, if we ignore the fact that he had just tried to digest a living wizard, turned to Lisa and spoke, her eyes shining slightly.
"I’m sorry about the children..." replied the elf, her voice soft as silk, trying to hide her exhaustion from the previous battle. She approached her fellow swordsman, helping him to stand. "I am Elara. This is Vulre. May I ask... are you by any chance a Spirit Fox?"
Lisa’s eyes didn’t change, but inside she felt her heart skip a beat. But with a calm voice, she replied. "Yes, do you know anything about Spirit Foxes?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Upon hearing this, the two elves’ bodies visibly relaxed, although the caution on their faces increased slightly.
This strange reaction confused Lohan and Lisa, who at that moment did not know if it was a good or bad thing.
Elara replied with a smile on her face. "That’s great, again, thank you very much for your help. Spirit Foxes are very famous in our history, although they rarely appear in person."
Despite saying this, the caution was still there, but changing the subject, she looked curiously at the fox’s back.
"May I know what..." She didn’t know how to phrase this question.
’Would it be very rude to ask what that is? It looks like slime, but what slime would have the intelligence to do something like this? ’ she thought.
Lohan, realizing that direct communication would be best to avoid misunderstandings, rolled off Lisa’s back onto the ground, without approaching the group. Using the small distance as a gesture of non-aggression and independence.
"Hello, I am Halon, a Slime," he said, using the mental link Lisa had created.
Hearing this, the elves’ eyes widened, alternating between disbelief that a Slime could have wisdom and the fox, who looked at it as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
The strangest thing was that this Slime even had a name!
And considering the reputation of Spirit Foxes, accepting this situation was even more difficult.
Their distrust was so clear that Lohan had an idea to alleviate it. "We decided to help because we realized that you look like a friend of mine, who is also an elf."
Just as Lohan had imagined, using someone in common to form a close relationship was a good choice, as upon hearing this, the elves became curious.
"Really?
Who is your friend? Maybe we can meet her." Vulre asked.
Although Thalendor was a huge city run by elves, the local elven population was not the largest. After all, as a long-lived race, fertility was never their strong suit.
And for thousands of years, even though they had different and distant lives, living in the same city, the possibility of meeting each other sometimes was very high.
They couldn’t say they knew all the elves in Thalendor, but to say they knew most of them would not be an exaggeration.
Thinking about the elf friend he had made, Lohan remembered the scene of Aeliana introducing herself to him by name, but he was unable to respond because he couldn’t speak or write the language of this world.
But he explained. "I met her a few days ago, her name is Aeliana, a mage."
Hearing that name, the elves’ eyes widened in surprise, obviously knowing the elf the slime was talking about.
This made Lohan curious about his friend.
’Is Aeliana famous among the elves of Thalendor?
