Slowly Falling into His Love Trap-Chapter 142: The Person Lying in the Fire, Is It Him?
Listening to Caden Lockwood’s words, a hint of suspicion flashed in Sean Ashton’s eyes.
Why does it feel like the boss is asking not for Julian Keaton, but for himself?
"What are you laughing at?" Caden didn’t have a good tone, "Julian Keaton is asking for your help, are you planning not to help?"
"Help!" Sean Ashton quickly spoke out, "Of course I’ll help!"
"What method?" Caden immediately asked, a faint expectation surfacing on his face.
Sean Ashton smiled even more ambiguously; he rarely saw Caden Lockwood display his emotions so openly.
It seems the boss is worried about the boss’s wife’s matters!
"Women, they’re very sensitive creatures. In times of uncertainty and confusion, they’re both eager to love and afraid to love. So, the first thing a man should do is to dispel her anxiety, grasp that appropriate distance, and keep her guessing." Saying this, Sean leaned to Caden’s ear and whispered, "Boss, you could try..."
After listening to Sean’s advice, a faint curve of a smile flashed in Caden’s dark eyes.
He believed Evelyn Morgan would soon become his.
Evelyn was in class when her phone suddenly vibrated—Caden Lockwood was calling.
Her brow furrowed; did he pick the perfect time to call or what?
She wanted to hang up, but knowing his temper, he might just storm into the school after her.
Lightly biting her lip, she hesitated for a moment, then crouched under the desk and answered the call.
"Uncle, do you know I’m currently in..."
"Twelve noon, The Epoch Restaurant at Celestial Gardens, wait for me there." Caden’s tone was commanding.
"Huh?" Evelyn was a bit confused, "What’s going on there?"
"If you’re late, you’ll be dead!" With that, Caden hung up.
Listening to the busy signal from the phone, Evelyn pouted, thinking Caden was simply looking for trouble.
Twelve noon?
That’s the meal time!
What’s he thinking?
The bell signaling the end of class rang just then, and she peeked her head out, packed her things, then prepared to head to her next class.
Walking down the hallway, two female classmates approached, chatting.
"Earlier, there was a sudden fire in the music room. I heard an outsider is trapped inside and can’t get out," said one.
"I told you, the circuits in the music room were worn out and would eventually cause trouble!" the other predictably spoke.
"Exactly! I heard the one trapped is a handsome guy. The fire department is stuck in traffic and couldn’t rescue in time. If something happens, our school will be in disaster!"
Upon hearing this, Evelyn stood there for a while, her mind buzzing.
Music room?
Fire?
Trapped outsider?
Could it be... Logan Shaw!
The things in her hand fell to the ground, but she had no awareness to pick them up, she trotted towards the music room.
Approaching the music room, the smell of burning became stronger, and the crowd grew. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Since it was an electrical fire, no one dared to use water to extinguish it, and the music room was ablaze with a colossal fire.
"Big brother," Evelyn murmured, the fire reflecting in her eyes as if she were being roasted, "Big brother!"
She came closer to see, the intense heat forcing her to step back.
From the window, Logan Shaw lay on the ground, apparently unconscious.
Everyone kept their distance, unwilling to step forward, only craning their necks to look at the fire scene, ready to run back at any moment.
Evelyn stood at the forefront, hearing the fire engine’s roar, but it was still some distance away.
In such moments, every second counts.
A few seconds’ delay might mean for Logan Shaw...
