Slowly Falling into His Love Trap-Chapter 164: Spend Your Lifetime to Compensate Me
Caden Lockwood’s fists tightened and ripples stirred in his normally tranquil gaze, only to settle back to its usual, unfathomable calm.
He pulled out his phone, dialed a number, and coldly instructed, "Aunt May, there’s no time to cook now. Go buy some of the dishes my wife loves. Hurry, she’s very hungry."
"Yes!" Aunt May responded.
"She’s weak right now. Eating overly rich supplementary food can burden her body. You can’t spoil her entirely." Caden paused and continued, "Get her a bowl of chicken porridge, add a steamed egg, cook some fish, and stir-fry corn with carrots. Make her a cup of juice as well. Have the chefs ready at all times; if she’s still hungry, they should be on standby."
Hearing this, Aunt May was stunned.
Is Evelyn a pig?
Can she eat this much?
"What’s wrong?" Caden raised an eyebrow, "Is there a problem?"
"No problem!" Aunt May immediately replied, "I’ll get right on it!"
Caden nodded in satisfaction, hung up the phone, and returned to the ward.
Evelyn sat on the hospital bed, arms crossed, staring at the ceiling with a pout as if in protest.
Initially, she wanted to sneak to the door to eavesdrop on what Caden and Shannon Dunn would say.
But she felt it was too humiliating.
Moreover, why should she care so much about what happens between Caden and Shannon Dunn?
Whatever they want to do, it’s none of her business!
"Is it still very painful?" Caden’s tone was filled with concern.
Evelyn remained silent, her expression proud.
He walked up to her, his shadow falling over her face, engulfing her, and asked again, "What’s wrong?"
"What’s wrong? Do I know you?" Evelyn’s tone was not friendly, "Don’t forget, we’re still fighting!"
"Evelyn!" Caden growled, "Do you believe I’ll throw you back into the car with those two men and let them do what they intended to do to you!"
Hearing his threat, she shrank her neck, looking weakly at him, muttering discontentedly, "Typical, never expect a devil to change."
Suddenly, he bent down, very close to her, his breath landing on her cheeks, his lips lightly parting, "Thank you for the compliment."
Her lips awkwardly curled, her gaze quickly shifted away, noticing his shirt was wrinkled; she suddenly remembered clinging tightly to him before fainting.
At that time, she thought she was going to die!
Tired and scared, the only thing that could comfort her was his presence.
But who on earth sent those two men to abduct her?
Caden lowered his eyes, a faint smile curving at the corners of his lips, "Shouldn’t you compensate for that?"
"Compensate?" She was on the verge of tears, "I haven’t even finished repaying the money I owe you!"
"Then repay it over a lifetime." His voice was deep and rich, with a coaxing undertone.
She looked at him again, biting her lip, her gaze pure yet perplexed, tinged with complexity.
"You..." she unconsciously tightened her grip on the sheets, "Why did you marry me after all?"
She wanted to know the answer.
Desperately wanted to know.
He didn’t avoid her gaze; instead, his eyes grew increasingly gentle, softly asking, "Want to know the answer?"
She nodded, wearing an earnest expression.
Suddenly thinking of something, she hurriedly added, "I want to hear the truth!"
Until he spoke openly to her, whatever she did felt insecure, lacking a sense of belonging and safety.
Holding her breath, she awaited his answer.
