Chapter 267: Chapter 267: We’re Going on a Date Tomorrow Afternoon

After she asked, Evelyn regretted it.

Why did she care whether Caden Lockwood was angry?

If he said he was angry, did that mean she had to make a sacrifice?

She felt so embarrassed that she wanted to find a hole and crawl into it, then escape the topic altogether.

"It’s fine," Caden Lockwood replied calmly, "I didn’t have high hopes for you anyway."

Listening to Caden, Evelyn forced a guilty smile and just wanted to disappear from his sight as quickly as she could.

"Stop thinking about maybe getting divorced one day. Just be a good Mrs. Lockwood," Caden commanded, "Are you free tomorrow afternoon?"

"Huh?"

"What could you have going on?" Caden muttered to himself, "5:30 in the afternoon, let’s go to the movies."

"Go! To! The! Movies!" Evelyn’s eyes widened in shock.

"Sleep," Caden deliberately ended the conversation, holding Evelyn and saying no more.

Meanwhile, Evelyn’s mind was in complete chaos.

Go to the movies?

Caden invited her to the movies tomorrow?

Does this mean... they’re officially going on a date?

She blinked repeatedly, looking at the handsome sleeping face in front of her, and instinctively pinched her own face.

It hurt.

So, she’s not dreaming?

A date tomorrow!

The corners of her lips lifted unconsciously, her mood inexplicably got a lot better, and she wanted to hum a tune.

Realizing it’s late at night, she quickly covered her mouth.

She rolled over slightly, thinking about how Caden had gone to exercise, and laughed again for no reason.

He really is a man who keeps to himself!

Turns out, once that kind of fire starts, it’s not that easy to put out!

Remembering their times together, it seemed like there were quite a few times he was burning with desire.

But she never saw him go out to exercise!

So why did he have to exercise this time?

Lying in bed, Evelyn’s thoughts wandered. Thinking and thinking, she gradually drifted into sleep.

...

As a faint white appeared in the sky, when Evelyn woke up, Caden had already gone to work.

She turned over, and the first thing that came to her mind was: she had a date today.

She immediately sat up, looked out the window, it was another sunny day.

Blinking her eyes, the arc of her smile grew even more beautiful.

Growing up, she hadn’t been on many dates!

Getting out of bed, she looked in the mirror again and again, tying her long hair up, then down, again and again, unable to find a better hairstyle.

But all she knew was how to do a ponytail.

She wanted to doll up a bit, but didn’t know how!

Evelyn pursed her lips in frustration, when suddenly, her phone rang—it was a call from Cecilia Lynch.

Evelyn’s heart ached, the arc of her smile instantly froze.

From yesterday to today, she had deliberately avoided thinking about Cecilia being Julian Keaton’s mistress.

But now, since Cecilia called her, she must want to talk about something!

After hesitating for a moment, Evelyn pressed the call button.

"Evelyn," Cecilia’s voice was very soft, "Are you free for lunch? I’ll treat you."

"Sure!" Evelyn replied, "Where should we eat? I’m on break now, I’m free every day!"

Cecilia mentioned the meeting place, and after a few more words, they hung up.

Listening to the beep-beep sound of the busy line, Evelyn’s eyes dimmed.

She didn’t know how to listen to Cecilia’s unspeakable secret.

She clearly already knew the truth, but did she have to pretend she didn’t know anything?

With something like this, was she supposed to comfort her, or should she... understand?

It seemed like there wasn’t anything she could do.

As Cecilia’s best friend, Evelyn felt completely helpless.

Something was stuck in her heart, making her feel incredibly uncomfortable.

By noon, Evelyn headed to the place where she was supposed to meet Cecilia.

Cecilia arrived before her, sitting there with a face full of sorrow and helplessness.
