"What?" Lily looked at Caden Lockwood, asking casually, "Are you worried I’ll bully her?"

"My wife is so cute, she’s likable everywhere, how could Mom ever bully her?" Caden said softly, "I’m just curious about what Mom and her daughter-in-law will talk about when they meet for the first time."

With his words, Lily’s face bloomed into a smile; all the gloom had vanished.

"My son!" Lily chuckled softly, "The thing I have no regrets about in my life is marrying your dad and having you."

Caden’s lips curled slightly as he lowered his gaze to Evelyn, seeing the uneasiness in her eyes, he involuntarily tightened her shoulder.

"Now that my son is here, the evil mother-in-law should leave." Lily sighed deeply, "Daughter-in-law, what I said to you today wasn’t meant for you to agree with, but for you to do, understand?"

After speaking, Lily glanced at Caden again before getting up and walking out of the cafe.

Evelyn’s breath caught, and before she could gather herself, she heard Caden asking, "What did Mom say to you?"

"Nothing." Evelyn replied in a muffled tone.

Caden frowned, seeing Evelyn’s expression, he knew his mother had said something hurtful.

He lifted her chin, meeting her gaze; her eyes were obscure. A light smile appeared on his lips.

"You don’t need to change anything, nor do you need to make any effort for me. Just give me what you have now." Caden’s voice was deep, rich, and incredibly charming, "People who need to try hard are those without a preference, while I prefer you."

Hearing Caden’s words, Evelyn’s cheeks flushed. She quickly averted her gaze, daring not to look at him again.

This man, how could he say something so captivating so casually?

Seeing Evelyn’s cheeks turn rosy, Caden’s palm itched, touching her soft skin, his gaze grew increasingly affectionate.

"Come on, it’s about time, let’s go watch a movie." Caden said in a deep voice.

Evelyn didn’t move, still showing some dejection between her brows.

"I..."

She hesitated, unsure of how to articulate her thoughts.

"Don’t overthink," Caden comforted, "If there’s something you don’t understand, just ask. If I don’t tell you, it won’t affect you, just continue living your carefree life."

Evelyn sighed softly, meeting Caden’s gaze, she said, "Uncle, if you want me to be your wife, I can’t help you with business, and I definitely can’t be a stepmother to any children from your lovers outside!"

Caden raised an eyebrow, "Is that what my mom told you?"

"Answer me first!" Evelyn urged, "You always dodge my questions!"

"I can handle my business problems myself, and there won’t be any lovers outside." Caden replied plainly.

"I understand being sure about business, but how can you be so certain about not having lovers?" Evelyn frowned, "Don’t try to fool me!"

Several lines of frustration appeared on Caden’s forehead, his body only felt for her, how could he possibly look for lovers outside?

"Erin Morgan." Caden lowered his gaze, "Do you think I’m the type of person who would lie?"

Seeing Caden’s arrogant and domineering demeanor, Evelyn pursed her lips and then revealed a gentle smile.

"You don’t lie?" Her tone was somewhat unpleasant, "You lied saying I initiated sleeping with you, isn’t that lying?"
