Sold as the Alpha King's Breeder-Chapter 1275 - 30 : Beautiful Golden Threads
*Zara*
I was completely touched by Noah’s loyalty as a friend to help me with this. I hoped that I would help him find his mate at some point too.
We were hanging out in the lounge area, going through our laptops and responding to messages from archeologists.
“We’re getting closer and closer,” I said. “I can feel it. Since there are caves near the last one we excavated, and the conditions were nearly right, I think we’ll be right on the nose soon.”
“That’s good to hear,” Noah said, his tone positive. “There are no reports of direct rogue attacks, though my scouting guards have reported some eyes on them.”
I let out a sigh. That part of this whole ordeal was stressing me out. There was nothing I could do about it, though, and Noah had it taken care of.
“Thank you for keeping up with that,” I said. “I hope they continue to stay away. I was worried about you in that fight.”
“There was no need to be. I can handle it,” Noah said casually, but he shot me a warm smile. “I appreciate your concern, though, Zara.”
A few hours later, we hit the jackpot of luck and good news.
My eyes widened when they landed on the preview of the notification from one of the lead archaeologists.
“The conditions outlined by the archeologist are exactly what we need!” I exclaimed.
“That’s excellent,” Noah said. “I say we travel with the botanist there to take a look for ourselves. After all, we should see where we’ll be working for months on end now, shouldn’t we?”
I nodded, smiling from ear to ear. “Let’s pack some emergency supplies just in case. You never know when the weather will hit us hard.”
With that, we packed up and headed out, both in high spirits. Thoughts of the rogues were on the back of our minds as we drove there.
Noah’s guards took the front, while we sat in the back of a rather large vehicle that fit several Drogomor members and us.
“So... do you intend on staying here a few months, come to think of it?” I asked Noah.
“I am, if you’ll have me, beautiful,” he said with a charming smile. “This break from my pack has been wonderful, and I’m here to help you through the long haul. Who knows? We both may find our mates in the process.”
“I really hope so,” I said softly.
I was sitting next to him, and I leaned into his shoulder. His musky, vanilla scent washed over me, helping me relax.
I could feel him relax too.
“Either way, you won’t be alone with childcare,” he said. “You have your parents, and me. I’ll help with the little tyke too. I’ll probably still be around.”
“Really? You’re going to become more of my assistant than an Alpha of your pack,” I joked, causing him to laugh.
“Hey, I wouldn’t go that far,” he said with amusement. “Experience with that, though, will help me for my future family. I don’t mind babysitting every so often while you take care of your work.”
“If we haven’t found my mate, or yours, or both, by then,” I said.
As I stared into his eyes, I noted a flash of sadness within them, something that, oddly, I shared. I wondered what that was about.
Rather than dwell on it, though, I turned to look out the window. “We should be there soon. The woods at dusk are always so beautiful,” I said softly.
“That is true. See the fireflies?” Noah asked.
As I focused, I indeed noticed little lights dancing around, which caused me to let out a happy sigh.
“I see them... how beautiful,” I whispered.
Not too long after, we arrived and got out of the car.
The sound of crickets and frog cries filled the woods, causing a sense of relaxation to settle within me. Being one with nature was always just so comforting.
Noah and I walked together and entered the cave, following the archaeologist’s instructions. Immediately, I gasped.
The cave had a spring running through it that practically glowed like magic. There were crystals that shimmered with bioluminescent light jutting out from the cave floor and from the cave ceiling.
A relaxing, earthy scent ran through the cave. There was soft moss decorating the ground, and plenty of nooks and crannies with additional minerals settled into them all over the place.
The cave was roomy and just a little bit cold, which was exactly what we needed for the lilies. I spotted vines growing on the sides, similar to the ones that had been growing in the cave where we found the lilies.
“This is beautiful,” I breathed.
Noah walked up beside me, patting me on the shoulder and looking around. My heart leaped at the warm smile resting on his face.
“It is,” he agreed.
He focused on the botanist coming toward us, who’d been in deep conversation with the archeologist.
“Hello,” Noah greeted her. “What’s the status of this place? Is it what we’re looking for?”
“It is,” the botanist said. She gave a little bounce, unable to contain her excitement. “According to our research, the lilies can be cultivated here! This is so exciting!”
“It is,” I said. “I agree. Thank you so much for your help! You all have been an amazing team.”
Noah had hired only the best, and the botanist beamed at me at the praise.
“Without your direction, we wouldn’t be able to get anywhere,” she said warmly. “Now, I’ve marked the best places to set things up. Would you like to look at the report now?”
I opened my mouth to reply, but Noah shook his head. “Let’s take a look around,” he said softly. “We’ve been working to the bone these past several days. A break for celebration is needed.”
I chuckled but nodded. “What he said,” I said.
The botanist grinned. “He has a point. The spots to set up will be here! You two go look around some more.”
With that, Noah and I wandered around, following the spring to the outside and once again looking at the fireflies.
“Even the area outside of the cave feels teeming with magic,” I said. “I always knew the lilies were real, but to be the one cultivating them right here? This is a dream come true.”
Noah smiled at me, meeting my gaze. “I am happy it is. I can see how excited you are. I’m very relieved that we’re several steps closer to resecuring your career.”
“You could have let things lie, and instead, you accepted responsibility, Noah,” I said, reaching up to cup his chin.
He leaned into my hand, partially closing his eyes.
I couldn’t help it. I wanted to give a warm, friendly gesture so that he knew how much this meant to me, just like the hug. My wolf certainly approved.
“I could have,” he said. “But you’re right. I wasn’t going to let my stubborn asshole-self ruin everything for you. Now, at least, we have both learned something about the world.”
I was about to reply when a huge burst of thunder sounded overhead. Gasping, I looked at the cave. “Oh shit! The weather here is unpredictable. We should get inside!”
Noah and I scrambled into the cave, but the archeologists and botanists were nowhere to be found. I assumed they had gone home for the night or sought shelter elsewhere.
The Drogomor guards had always been sticking close, so they guarded the entrance of the cave while Noah rummaged through his bags.
I shivered a bit. “It’s cold in here.”
“Well, we can’t head to your home in this powerful of a storm,” Noah said. “Thankfully, I have supplies here for a fire.”
With that, a little fire pit was set up. The Drogomor guards helped us settle in before going back to patrolling the entrance of the cave, leaving Noah and me alone but safe.
The sound of the running water relaxed me a bit, but I couldn’t help but shiver. I wasn’t sure when we’d be able to get back to my house, what with the strong pattering of rain and rumbling thunder outside.
This storm was certainly violent, and I was worried.
“There’s soft moss over here. Want to take my spot, Zara?” Noah asked softly.
I looked at him and contemplated things. “I can sit with you,” I suggested, causing him to raise a brow.
“Well, I wouldn’t mind that. It’ll be warmer together, too,” he said.
I settled into his lap, leaning against him. He had a point. His warmth flowed over me like his scent did, helping me relax further.
Electricity surged through me stronger than ever. Noah reached around me, grabbing a metal rod and attaching a couple of hotdogs to it.
“Not the most gourmet of foods, but something yummy by the fire,” Noah said into my ear. His breath so close to it, and his voice so soft, it sent shivers down my spine.
My wolf pulled at me to ask for more of his touch—the feeling of his hands all over me, the rush of his lips on mine.
No....
I had my mate to think about, not Noah.
“Something yummy indeed. Thank you for making dinner. You did well with making the fire. It’s nice and warm,” I said, stumbling over my words.
Noah chuckled into my ear. “Yes, fire does tend to be hot,” he said in a teasing tone, causing me to roll my eyes.
He cooked the hotdogs to perfection, and soon, my belly was full, and I was even more relaxed. Noah hesitated at first, but then wrapped his arms around me. I turned a bit, then stared into his blazing blue eyes.
“You’re beautiful, Zara,” Noah whispered as he stared at me, taking in a deep breath.
The feeling of his chest against me was tantalizing, and I found myself losing focus.
“What an honor that is coming from such a gorgeous man,” I said, reaching up to cup his cheek once more.
Noah grinned, though his eyes flashed in confusion a bit. “I appreciate that. Should we be doing this? What about your mate?” Noah asked. He was leaning closer and closer. “Because I really want to kiss you right now,” he said in a husky tone.
“Do it,” I whispered. “Kiss me, Noah. Please.”
He didn’t hesitate any longer. I gave into my instincts, what my wolf was wanting me to do, and felt his lips rest on mine.
The burst of ecstasy that rushed through me was exactly like when I’d met that man in the clearing under the full moon.
Noah’s lips tasted the same. As I explored the curves of his muscles with my hands, I found the feeling to be exactly the same.
I moaned into the kiss, wanting more.
No—I needed more, and now.
Breaking it, I breathed, “I need you in me. Now.”
“I thought you’d never ask, beautiful,” Noah said, not hesitating to undress me and press me down into the soft moss.
I groaned, feeling him grind against me, wanting him right that moment.
He wouldn’t give himself to me yet.
First, I felt him explore me, his hands tracing over every curve, hitting every sensitive spot and causing me to let out a low whimper. Noah locked lips with me again, and when the kiss ended, he whispered something into my ear.
“This is just like my dream.”
Then, he penetrated me, his size filling me up and causing such a burst of entwined pleasure and pain that it caused me to cry out. Bliss surged through my muscles as I was overwhelmed with the feeling of him.
His dazzling strokes melted my mind with pleasure, and the only thing I could think of was Noah Drogomor, the Alpha Heir of his pack—strong, intelligent, headstrong... someone who teased and played, with a sense of humor entwined with kindness and confidence.
My eyes were shut tightly as he continued to move in and out, brushing against all the most sensitive places in my body. His fingers massaged expertly at my clit, sending me cascading into release already.
He didn’t take long, either. Noah growled into my ear, a sound of dominance and lust yet mingled with a sense of strong emotion that completely took my breath away.
As we lay together afterward, catching our breath, Noah pulled me close against his muscular chest. I listened to the rapid beating of his heart, feeling content and at peace.
"I’ve been dreaming of this moment for so long," Noah murmured, nuzzling his face into my hair.
He kissed me tenderly, igniting the passion between us once more. We made love slowly and gently this time, savoring each touch, each kiss, each whispered endearment, pushing back the inevitable heartbreak and reality that whatever this was, it wasn’t meant to be.
