Sorcerer: I want to be an Academic Prodigy-Chapter 693 - 655: Discussing the Tao While Sitting
Supreme Council, Truth Hall.
It had been no more than three months since the last gathering, and the Void King Wizards once again assembled here.
"Black Flame King, what is the reason for summoning us here?"
"Patience. We will discuss it all once the others have arrived. The Ice Queen hasn’t shown up yet."
Seeing Ivan respond this way, the others refrained from pressing. With the teleportation array now in place in the sorcerer world, even those stationed in distant continents could quickly return to Truth City without worrying about wasting time.
After a short while, the Ice Queen arrived at the Supreme Council as expected.
"I have a proposal. Why don’t we sit down and discuss the Way?" Ivan said under everyone’s watchful gaze.
"What do you mean by ’discuss the Way’?" The others were briefly taken aback, and the King of Ten Thousand Woods couldn’t help but ask.
"Before I explain, I have a few questions for you to answer first," Ivan teased cryptically.
"Ask away."
"It’s currently the 3209th year of the Betta Calendar. The sorcerers have endured for thousands of years. Considering all factors, isn’t this a particularly critical moment for our development?"
Ivan scanned the group one by one, his gaze steady and serious as he posed the question.
"You could say that."
"According to documented history, our sorcerer fortune has never been so flourishing as it is now—like oil on a roaring fire. However, extremes often lead to reversal. I have a strong premonition that if we fail to progress further during this golden opportunity, we might face setbacks in the future."
After a few moments of contemplation, the King of Ten Thousand Woods and the King of the Long Sky answered successively.
The others nodded slightly. Although the current times seemed tranquil, there were potential dangers beneath the surface, the timing of which no one could predict.
"Since we’re in agreement, shouldn’t we go all out?" Ivan asked again.
"Indeed, that would be proper," the others echoed in agreement.
"Shouldn’t we also be willing to break conventions?" Ivan continued.
"It’s worth considering." Upon hearing this, some felt uneasy but did not oppose outright. "Black Flame King, we’re all one family here. Just speak your mind directly."
"The path of cultivation consists of four key elements: Method, Companion, Resources, and Place. Method refers to the inheritance of techniques; Resources, to the materials necessary for cultivation; Place, to suitable locations for practice; and Companion, to fellow practitioners.
We can spar among ourselves, support one another, share experiences, and exchange or gift knowledge.
But I believe what we’re doing now is far from sufficient."
To Ivan, the four elements—Method, Companion, Resources, and Place—also encapsulated the current state of their cultivation. For wizards like them, who pursued knowledge and truth as their ultimate goal, the importance of Companion held significant weight among these four.
"How is it insufficient?" the King of Ten Thousand Woods asked reflexively.
"I believe we could push further, openly demonstrating the powers we excel in to validate our mastery. Something like this."
With the conversation taking this turn, Ivan did not hold back.
He immediately revealed the spatial powers he commanded, showcasing them directly and elaborating on his understanding. His explanation delved into the core of his strengths.
In the sorcerer world, the principle among the sorcerers was that knowledge came at a price and exchanges were based on equivalence.
Even between master and apprentice, knowledge was only shared or gifted in exchange for something, along with additional guidance. Among sorcerers, it was even less likely for anyone to openly display their dominant powers and reveal their secrets.
This was undoubtedly contrary to typical sorcerer behavior.
"Is this what you mean by ’discussing the Way’?"
When Ivan finished, someone frowned, their expression caught between hesitation and doubt.
"That’s right, this is exactly how I envision it. Frankly speaking, now is the perfect confluence of time, place, and people. Time, because our sorcerer world has reached a pivotal moment; place, because the teleportation array has brought us geographical convenience; and people, because our relationship can be considered harmonious.
There has never been a more opportune moment than now to discuss the Way. As sorcerers, we can also study certain things collectively—like the Ember Furnace.
If necessary, we might even allow subordinates to listen in. Of course, that would require prior coordination amongst ourselves."
Ivan poured out all his thoughts without caring how they might be received.
Afterward, he fell silent, waiting patiently as the others weighed the pros and cons. He could understand their concerns; after all, this proposal went against traditional sorcerer customs.
He had not privately discussed this idea with anyone in advance.
In the Truth Hall, after Ivan finished speaking, the remaining five Void King Wizards exchanged glances several times, each frowning deeply, unable to reach a conclusion for a long while.
"Since my power is the weakest, if there’s an opportunity to gain an advantage, I won’t pretend otherwise. I agree with the Black Flame King’s proposal," said King of Green Flood Dragon Hadi Charosi after a long pause, breaking the silence first.
"I second the motion."
"Seconded."
Following this, the Dragon Flame King and the Ice Queen voiced their agreement.
Seeing this, the King of Ten Thousand Woods glanced at the King of the Long Sky and then slowly nodded.
"Then let us give it a try. The six of us will discuss the Way, and the location shall be the inner sanctum of the Truth Hall."
As the foremost figure in the sorcerer world, the King of the Long Sky naturally bore the greatest responsibility and considerations. After weighing his options for an extended period, he finally expressed his thoughts.
Hearing this, the other five nodded slightly.
Sorcerers tend to act decisively. Once the consensus was reached, the six Void King Wizards went back to organize their knowledge and the topics they wished to present. Half a month later, they began the first session of discussing the Way.
As the initiator, Ivan was the first to showcase his powers, primarily demonstrating his mastery of the Space Path and the Life Path.
