Chapter 45: Planning

Fear whirled around the room; the parents watched their own little angel sobbing as if she lost a piece of her heart.

The parents exchanged a sorrowful glance as they meditated on the princess’s situation in their throne room. They thought about how she changed when she met Kai.

The queen suddenly said, "This is bad; she’s totally broke. What are we going to do?" She asked, her face looking pale as she thought of her daughter.

The king replied, his voice barely above a whisper, "I don’t know; that kid is new here in the castle, and we don’t even know him that much."

Queen Sophia suddenly widened her eyes as she glared at the King. She said, "But Sonia’s actions changed after she met him!" after she thought that the King wanted to abandon Kai.

"Yes, you are right; it’s bad for her, I’m sure," he said.

The queen suddenly closed her eyes in a pale state, and with a low voice, she said, "She totally loved that guy, and if he’s still alive, we should retrieve him fast or..." She paused and sighed.

The King then jumped to the next line by saying, "Yes, I can’t just let my only daughter’s heart pour down like that without doing anything."

A ray of hope appeared in Queen Sophia’s eyes as she snapped them open and asked, "Imh, but what are we going to do?" she questioned, her left hand holding her chin.

"I don’t know; it’s another worlder we are dealing with. The mages can hesitate to act against that, and it’s under Goro’s territory, so it can be hard."

The queen widened her eyes after hearing Goro’s name. "Ohh, it’s Goro?" She questioned, her heart racing, a thudding sound that was heard by her and only her. She continued, while she held her chest with her left hand, "Oh gosh, this is bad. Goro isn’t the type to let anyone go breathing, right?"

The king’s voice growled as he replied, his head lowered down. "Yes, he’s the most famous otherworlder in Luminaris to kill mages. For now, he is in a ranking of killing 4 men of mages who were in a group."

"Four people at the same battle?"

"Yes, that’s what I wanted to say, and no other worlder has done that; he’s considered another worlder king, so...." The king took a deep breath, his left hand holding the resting side of a chair, and then the other one was holding his cheek as he got more worried since the situation was a bit out there.

"Doesn’t that mean, one day he will attack us for a throne?"

"Exactly, that can simply happen, and he’s too much for us and our soldiers. If he tries, we will really rely on the mages, but not today."

The queen looked down in disappointment while she said, "Yes, mages won’t act faster than expected, so I guess it will be better to try our army; maybe they can snatch Kai away and run with him if he’s still breathing." She suggested a valid point but also difficult to consider.

"Yes, that can help, but do you think they’ll...."

"It’s an order, not a request!" The queen said, her eyes piercing through the thick air, glaring at the king.

"But they are still humans! They can maybe think about their lives."

"It’s for our daughter’s happiness!"

"Yes, but what if they get spotted and get attacked by Goro’s guys in the streets?"

"Let’s just hope they won’t get spotted."

"Haaaaa (sighed), I don’t know about this, but it’s our only option."

On the other side, the princess’s cheeks were covered with tears as she thought of her own friend, who was also her bodyguard.

She was muttering Kai’s name and many sad words about Kai, who was a dead person to the princess. She was sitting on her bed, her hands holding her legs that were folded upwards. Her feet were in front of her, and she laid her head on top of her knees. She was wearing a big nice dress that was mostly popular that hid her cover since she was undercover.

She slowly said, "Kai, you should have listened. Now, Goro, no, not Goro. Why, Kai, why did you just leave like that?" she said while tears continued to flow down her cheeks.

She continued saying, "Only two days and you are gone?" she said while showing a two with her hands.

The maid tried to calm her down by saying, "Calm down, Princess, I’m sure Kai is alright!" With some lies to comfort her, she continued to cry, replying to her.

"No, he’s not alright; he doesn’t have any fighting experience or anything like that. He’s just the simple Kai that we all know. So against Goro he’s nothing but an...ant."

She hesitated on her last word, and her eyes widened before she said it. Just to finish her sentence, she said *"ant,"* but her mind was totally full of new thoughts.

She thought of the time when Kai came out from the middle of the apartments with the robbers that robbed the poor woman.

The princess suddenly said, "Kai can be hiding something. How did he...? Of course, he’s..." She paused and looked at the maid, who was all ears to what she was saying. She said, "May you excuse me, please?"

The maid respectfully excused the princess and said, "Okay, Princess." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

The maid left puzzled; she closed the door and slowly walked away, thinking of what the princess said in her last words.

She relayed the words of her princess, "Of course, he’s... a what exactly? Her sentence was not clear, and she even paused to get me away. What was she even talking about? She suddenly paused her pouring tears just in the middle of criticizing him. Something is totally fishy."

She went back to the door and listened to what the princess said if she continued to talk on her own.
