Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1483: The Mysteries Behind Robot Enhancement
After a rather intense session, Sein’s mind finally cooled down. He walked over to the bedside and finished the rest of the green juice that Azelia had brought earlier.
On the bed, the fox maiden was fast asleep. She was curled up and hugging her fiery red tail.
Lying beside her was Yuri.
As a Rank Four being who had gone through countless body-tempering experiments with Sein, Yuri was far less exhausted than the fox maiden.
When Sein got up, Yuri instinctively tried to rise as well, but he gestured for her to stay put.
“Rest a bit longer. I’ll check on the experiment.” His gaze drifted toward the purple crystal resting on the nearby table.
“You mentioned earlier that this Energy Amethyst can enhance intelligent robots?”
“Yes. That was what I discovered in the lab...” Yuri replied softly.
Within the Divine Tower of Ashes, Sein maintained hundreds of laboratories—each dedicated to a different branch of his research.
Some were for potion brewing, others for alchemy, body-tempering, or research focused on pyro and lumen elements.
The alchemy division alone contained over a dozen large laboratories, and several of them were dedicated specifically to mechanical research.
The Energy Amethyst itself had originated from the Magic Cube, a technological product of the Gallant Federation.
Though refined by the Magus Civilization and later modified further by Sein, the Magic Cube remained most valuable in his mechanical research labs.
Naturally, those facilities also housed Yuri’s subordinate mechas and a number of surplus robot units, lined up neatly in one corner of the room.
It was during one of these sessions that Yuri discovered that the Energy Amethyst could enhance intelligent robots!
Many of the lower-tier robots in Sein’s laboratories had already been awakened by the Magic Cube, making them far more capable than ordinary golems.
With self-awareness, they could carry out incredibly complex requests with remarkable precision.
When Azelia cleaned Sein’s laboratory, a few low-level intelligent robot assistants trailed behind her, helping with the chores.
In his younger years, Sein had once considered buying a few beautiful beastmen or half-beastman female slaves from Beastmen World to tend to his daily needs. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
He was not opposed to such indulgence, but years of war and nonstop research had gradually made him forget the idea.
Now, it seemed these intelligent robots were far better suited for the job than any attractive slave from a foreign world.
After all, Sein’s experiments often stretched on for decades, and his war campaigns could last just as long, sometimes even a century.
Buying low-ranking slaves would only mean watching them age and die eventually, forcing him to replace them again and again.
They were nowhere near as “durable” as the intelligent robots.
Unfortunately, Sein currently had only one humanoid intelligent robot—Linda Mark II, a unit he had brought home from the Gallant Federation.
This angelic-looking model was one of the few lower-tier robots in the Divine Tower of Ashes that had been awakened.
Perhaps because he was a mage from Magus World, Sein naturally found the humanoid robots far easier on the eyes than those clunky, box-shaped, or vehicle-type models.
The Norman Federation, a member of the Magus Alliance, was known for its advanced android technology.
During the last alliance conference, Sein had met several Rank Four and higher androids from the Norman delegation.
Visually, they were almost indistinguishable from real humanoid beings by Magus World standards.
It was obvious that the Norman Federation had designed its androids to appeal to Magus World aesthetics. Every one of them was crafted with striking beauty, regardless of gender.
Some even came with... extra functions.
And since they were still robots at their core, the Magic Cube should, in theory, be able to awaken the Norman androids as well.
Thinking about that, Sein turned to Yuri, who was still sitting on the bed.
“Once Azelia wakes up, have her contact Marie and order a batch of female androids from the Magus Alliance. Let them handle the routine cleaning and lab maintenance,” he instructed.
“Azelia shouldn’t be stuck doing menial work forever. I’d rather she focus on improving as a shaman priestess.”
“Sure, I’ll tell her that when she’s up,” Yuri replied.
Sein nodded. With the Energy Amethyst in his hand, he turned to leave.
“I’ll head back to the lab and take a closer look at what you mentioned earlier.”
***
In the laboratory, a low-grade gray intelligent robot lay flat on the table while Sein stood over it, his brow slightly furrowed in thought.
At this moment, his mind was calm and clear, free from the distractions and impulses that had clouded him earlier.
As artificial creations, robots had a fixed ceiling to their growth potential.
Whatever strength they were built with at the factory determined the peak of their combat ability.
Unlike true intelligent beings, they could not grow stronger through cultivation or training.
Until now, the only ways to improve a robot’s strength were through a complete overhaul or by outfitting it with better weapons and parts.
The Resonance Blade, a world-class secret treasure gifted to Aetherend by the Magus Civilization, was yet another example of an external enhancement.
Just as living beings could evolve through precious consumables like the Golden Apple, the Energy Amethyst in Sein’s hand was the intelligent robots’ own version of it.
The comparison felt almost perfect, considering that the Magic Cube had shown the ability to repair even the most severe damage sustained by these robots.
The low-grade gray intelligent robot before Sein had only been as strong as a senior initiate, useful only for menial chores in his laboratory.
Yet after absorbing a tiny shard of the Energy Amethyst, its metallic armor took on a deeper hue... and its strength suddenly surged to Rank One!
Rank One meant little to Sein.
What truly impressed him was how it had made such a leap, without any physical modifications or extra equipment!
And back in the Gallant Federation’s star domain, how had the Magic Cube managed to repair damaged robots?
These were the mysteries Sein wished to solve.
He was not the kind of mage content to know what worked; he needed to understand why.
Once he fully unraveled these secrets, his mechanical research would surely advance to a whole new level.
For now, the Energy Amethyst seemed to hold incredible potential for upgrading the Nexon intelligent robots and Yuri’s Burning Flame Unit.
Enhancing low-tier robots was one thing, but if this crystal could amplify the power of high-level robots, even those at Rank Four and above, then...
