Chapter 1491: Struggle

The battle erupted in an instant, and once it began, it quickly reached a fever pitch.

The Gallant Federation had not deployed so many stealth-capable warships here for “sightseeing”...

Given the Magus Civilization’s dominance in the Grand Eye Demon World Star Domain battlefield and the massive gap in strength between the two sides, the federation’s special fleet clearly aimed to strike fast and retreat just as quickly!

Whoosh!

A blue energy beam was fired from the federal fleet’s flank.

A prism fort hovering near the logistics base’s right wing failed to dodge in time. The beam struck it, triggering a series of violent explosions.

Rolling black smoke poured from the wreckage before the fort erupted once more in a thunderous blast!

The blinding flash from the explosion blinded even the nearby Magus Civilization legions.

That strike carried power on par with a Rank Six being’s attack. Only something of that magnitude could obliterate a prism fort in one hit!

Sein was pretty knowledgeable about Magus World’s large and medium-sized war platforms.

Aside from war airships, which were practically toys in the eyes of law-wielding beings, even Sein himself would have struggled to destroy a war platform like a prism fort in a single strike.

Worse still, the destroyed fort had actually been reinforced by the Alveroth Empire’s magitech. It was far sturdier than standard models on the market.

As the fiery wreckage scattered, Sein’s expression darkened.

Benjamin’s forces were clearly not as well-equipped as the Divine Tower of Ashes.

Although neither Benjamin nor his space fortress had arrived, Sein was glad that at least two prism forts and most of his troops had reached the logistics base ahead of the Rank Four knight.

Otherwise, no matter how capable Sein was, holding this place alone would have been almost impossible.

“We must hold until reinforcements from the Magus Civilization arrive!” Sein growled the moment the prism fort was blown up.

That blast might have hit with Rank Six force, but it did not rattle him.

He could already tell these Rank Six-class destroyers were nowhere near true Rank Six beings.

Their precision might have been terrifying against stationary targets, but when it came to tracking an agile Rank Four powerhouse like him, their shortcomings were all too clear!

Under the crushing pressure that loomed like a mountain, Sein gritted his teeth and dove straight for the weak point in the enemy fleet’s formation.

Yuri rushed to his side in record time.

The master and his servant moved in perfect sync. In a sudden ambush like this, that unity might be their only chance to stand against their enemy.

On the battlefield, Sein maintained his demonic form at two hundred meters—the optimal size for this fight.

He could make himself larger, but he had no interest in becoming an easier target.

After countless battles against the Gallant Federation, Sein had long since mastered when and how to unleash his power.

If it had not been necessary to expose the federal fleet and warn the knight legions garrisoned here, he would have stayed even smaller to make it difficult for those long-range cannons to aim at him.

Yuri had accompanied him on infiltration missions before and knew his strategies and fighting style inside out.

Together, the two of them fought in seamless rhythm, mounting a surprisingly effective counterattack amid the chaos.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A cluster of federal ships exploded into fiery wrecks, torn apart by their joint assault.

Charging straight into the fleet’s weak point, Sein and Yuri finally dealt some solid damage.

Their efforts did not go unnoticed.

For the Magus Civilization legions stationed at this logistics base, law-wielding powerhouses were figures of awe and faith.

When such beings triumphed, morale surged through the ranks. But if one fell, despair spread like a line of falling dominoes.

Sein and Yuri’s brilliant counterattack quickly restored the garrison’s shaken morale.

The Magus Civilization forces began returning fire with renewed determination.

Still, the difference in firepower between the two sides was staggering.

Trying to hold back the Gallant Federation fleet alone was wishful thinking.

The only real question now was—how long could Sein and the others last? And when would reinforcements from the Magus Civilization finally arrive?

Violent explosions and streams of flame raced past Sein as the battle raged on.

As Sein vaulted over the burning wreckage of a warship nearly two hundred meters long, a sharp pang of regret hit him.

He should not have sent the Divine Tower of Ashes Army away so soon.

With the legion’s full strength, and the Ashen Fortress’ firepower and other war machines, they could have held out far longer under the Gallant Federation’s bombardment.

Then again, if the Divine Tower of Ashes Legion had still been here, this overly cautious federal fleet might never have dared to approach in the first place.

The battle had only just begun, and Sein had yet to pinpoint the enemy’s capital ship, but a suspicion already gnawed at him: this fleet had to be the infamous Shadow Fleet, the very same elusive force that had haunted the rear lines of the Grand Eye Demon World battlefield for years.

“Fucking hell!” Sein muttered under his breath.

He had spent decades garrisoning the rear of this vast star domain without ever crossing paths with the federation’s special fleet, only to run into them now, right before leaving for the Netherworld Star Domain battlefield.

To make matters worse, he could feel an oppressive “isolating” force spreading through the surrounding void.

It was more than just isolation—it completely cut off long-range communication. Even if he managed to break free, breaching the surrounding spatial blockade would be nearly impossible.

The Shadow Fleet’s reputation had not been exaggerated; they really did know what they were doing.

Unwilling to stay still, Sein beat his demonic wings again and signaled Yuri to shift course toward another flank of the enemy fleet.

Their strategy was to find the weakest point in the formation and dive straight in, tearing holes through the enemy’s lines.

Staying put and defending the logistics base would have been suicide.

A few focused salvos from the federal warships would have been more than enough to reduce them to dust.

Only by staying mobile did they have any chance of surviving the fight!
