Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1503: Gray Quartz
On any battlefield, charging recklessly just to show off personal valor rarely made a difference in the grand scheme of things.
Even the Magus World knights knew it was wiser to stay behind the massive legions of enslaved creatures on the battlefield...
Of course, one major weakness of the Klytherans was their lack of such enslaved legions.
As a result, they had no choice but to rely on their own bodies and risk their lives to withstand the enemy’s assault.
“Let me give you a hand,” Sein called out, swiftly flying to the side of the demigod-level Klytheran fighter.
With quick, practiced movements, he secured the fighter onto a makeshift experimental stretcher, handling him almost as if he were a specimen.
Sein pulled out various experimental tools, including scalpels of different sizes.
The demigod-level Klytheran, still dazed by Sein’s sudden appearance, stared at him in confusion.
Even so, he sensed no real hostility in Sein’s aura.
“I’ll treat your wounds first, then I’ll take care of those who hurt you.” Sein gave him a rather... friendly smile before beginning the procedure.
The Klytherite embedded in the warrior’s chest caught Sein completely off guard. The discovery filled him with excitement and a powerful urge to examine it more closely.
Throughout the treatment that followed, Sein’s attention remained fixed on the Klytherite lodged in the fighter’s chest.
As for the Blue Star natives who had injured the Klytheran, Sein simply instructed Yuri to wipe them up with her Blazing Flame Unit.
In this battle, the Klytherans held a clear overall advantage.
To Sein, the Blue Star technological civilization still looked like it was in its early infancy.
Even though they had created weapons capable of threatening Rank Five beings, they were nothing compared to the Rank Five fleets of the Gallant Federation. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Perhaps because Planet Klythera had been destroyed by the Gallant Federation, most Klytherans held little fondness for technological civilizations at all, shaped by their genetic memories and the teachings of their elders...
On the Blue Star front, Sein might as well have been a selfless field medic from the Magus Civilization.
Beyond this demigod-level Klytheran, he ended up rescuing many lower-ranking fighters as well.
Of course, Sein reached some Klytheran fighters too late. By the time he found them, they had already turned cold.
Sein simply gathered the bodies as specimens with a respectful attitude, avoiding doing anything that might dishonor the fallen Klytherans in front of their kin.
All these actions earned him considerable goodwill from the Klytheran fighters.
After all, Sein’s earlier display of shattering Blue Star’s outer defensive line with overwhelming power had been nothing short of spectacular.
Not only Kram, but even the nearby lower-ranking Klytheran warriors were quietly observing him.
Seeing a formidable Rank Five repeatedly rushing over to assist Klytherans of lower life levels truly reassured many of them.
Because of Sein’s actions, countless Klytherans who had barely known anything about the Magus Civilization began to see it in a more positive light.
If these Klytherans eventually joined the Magus Alliance in the future, their preconceived impressions shaped by Sein would likely make them far less resistant... but that was a matter for another time.
The only minor complication was that, while Sein frequently rescued Klytherans, he also saved some Blue Star natives along the way.
Those small, four-armed Blue Star beings looked more like semi-aquatic creatures in Sein’s eyes.
Water made up over 85% of their entire body structure, flesh and blood less than 10%, and the remaining 5% consisted of metals and microelements.
Surprisingly, this biological foundation did not push Blue Star lifeforms toward mastering water-based powers. Instead, they developed technology.
Sein had already taken note of the nature of their technological weapons on this battlefield, and they did not seem to involve heavy industry at all.
He found himself leaning toward calling them “Light Water Weapons.”
Even the energy cannons and beams fired by the Blue Star natives contained strong hydro-elemental traits.
Ultimately, as a species born on a hydro-attribute plane, the Blue Star natives could never fully break away from the nature of their world, no matter how advanced their technology became.
It was during one of his trips across the battlefield, collecting specimens...erm, treating the wounded, that Sein discovered a gray, cubic crystal no larger than a fingernail among the wreckage of a large Light Water Particle Cannon destroyed by the Klytherans.
The crystal looked ordinary. If Sein had seen it by itself, he probably would have dismissed it as unremarkable, even with his sharp observational skills.
“An inert crystal... a unique mineral rarely used in the Astral Realm. It has properties entirely opposite to the active elemental traits found in energy crystals, magic cores, or divine relics,” he murmured to himself.
“So this is the energy source the Blue Star natives developed, and the resource the Klytherans coveted?” Sein examined the crystal in his hand.
Unfortunately, even with the Faceless Mask’s impressive analytical abilities, Sein still could not uncover the secrets inside this gray cubic crystal within such a short time.
He temporarily named it Gray Quartz.
“What do you make of this?” Sein asked the Burning Flame Unit floating beside him, holding the crystal toward her.
As a technological construct, the Burning Flame Unit should, in theory, have the ability to absorb and analyze these strange crystals.
Back in Magus World, she had even shown a desire to consume the Energy Amethyst, which Sein himself had not fully studied at the time.
The Burning Flame Unit’s yellow eyes flickered at Sein’s question, showing a hint of uncertainty in her gaze.
After Yuri nudged it, the Burning Flame Unit finally shook her head and replied, “Master, I sense nothing from this crystal. It feels like a rock.”
“Like a rock?” Sein glanced down at the crystal with a raised brow, nodding once and then shaking his head. “You’re right, it really looks like a rock.”
“If I had not seen the Blue Star creatures using it as an energy source for their tech weapons, even I would doubt whether this strange crystal held any extraordinary power at all. Why did the Magus Civilization go to such lengths in its early days, searching the entire alliance for inert crystals?” he wondered.
“Could it be that the Magus Civilization, like the Blue Star natives and the Klytherans, has an exceptionally advanced ability to process and utilize these inert crystals?” he said aloud, rubbing his chin.
Either way, once he returned to the Magus Civilization, he would definitely report everything he had seen and learned, including the Blue Star natives, the Klytherans, and these inert crystals.
The existence of inert crystals on Blue Star would certainly catch the attention of some in the upper ranks of Magus World.
